I grew up on this music i was about 13 years old when this was popular, born in 1947! Thank goodness we had this great music when i was akid! I went to dancing school from age 4 all the way up to age 26! Loved to rip up the floor with these great rock songs! ROCK ON ROCK ON!!
Thanks Pontius Pilot they are part of the gang and will check it out most certainly. I was a rocker allright with Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry.etc and to be fair the guy who kicked it off when I was a 14 year old was Elvis He changed the face of music for me . Keep on Rocking ma man Connelpark
It is no wonder that the Rolling Stones, Zep, The Who, and many others took strongly to them and went to their shows. This is exactly the kind of music that they were listening to and doing when they began and was always a big influence on them all. The Stay Cats did it so well and so authentically. They should have been a bigger commercial success.
Actually these are the Stray Cats in 1982, in France (Paris Hippodrome) just after the release of their second album Gonna Ball. The sax is Mel Collins who played with The Rolling Stones.
Damn Disco - Stopped listn to radio and new music LOL missed these guys et al - couodb't put any better "on the ball - the real deal! Hang in there connelpark from a 64yr old canuck :)
Actually, the original was written & performed by Little Richard, recorded by Art Rupe on his Specialuty label. Bill Haley did a cover version, as did Elvis circa 55-56.
Yes I know it did, and Bill Haley and the Comets started rock'n'roll in May 1954, but rock'n'roll wasn't popular until 1955, and it became fully popular in 1956, then Carl Perkins started rockabilly music in 1955, yes rock'n'roll came from blues, and most of the rock'n'roll from 1955-1964 had that blues sound in it, but I wouldn't say the song rock around the clock by Bill Haley and the Comets from May 1954, has that blues sound in it.
I'm...I'm sorry to say this but...you've failed this world... ;) Just kidding, let 'em like whatever they want, because it wouldn' really be in the Rockabilly spirit to make someone like it, I guess, right?
Le groupe français les teenkats ont rencontrés le groupes qui les a inspirés donc les strays cats . les teenkats comment les stray cats continuent de tournés et ils sont sacrements bons leurs titres le premier succès dans ton djin . Que dieu les protègent.

The Stray Cats as gloriously wild as I remember them and a punky-looking, gorgeous Brian Setzer at his absolute best. Fantastic performance.

@@BigAndTall666 You apparently do not know how to read. Read my comment again, slowly, and when you understand it, you may apologize.
Very great version
YOWZA! Outstanding! I'm normally wary of remakes, but they definitely do this song (and Little Richard) some justice! :)

Its hard to believe he was ever this young. In which year did he go over to the dark side of Rockabilly.
wow, early early years!
Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps also did a remarkable cover of this dynamite song.
A lotta bands covered this, and still do. It's a classic!
Never saw or heard this before.

GREAT !!! If Stray Cats make a studio version of this song, would be the best

I love u tube. my boy loves when he hears music from my early days. he doesn't have any from today's anti- music.
This was in France 1981 I think, after the Gonna Ball LP came out. Always thought they sounded better with sax and keyboards backing them.
