My favorite comments are "I hope you ate them" "You better eat these and not just waste them". Those that write those comments clearly don't watch the video or they would have seen that I eat them...of course I do. That is the whole point of hunting... However I kinda think that the offended people would actually prefer to assume that I don't eat them so they can justify their hate for me easier..lol

We are not allowed to hunt rabbits with a bow in England. In fact we are not allowed to hunt anything with a bow(or crossbow), even vermin. Shooting an animal with an arrow or bolt is considered to cause unnecessary distress, but a bullet or pellet isn't? We also can't hunt with a catapult if using stones or pebbles BUT we can use ball bearings, This is because stoning(or pebbling) something to death is considered cruel BUT using a metal ball bearing ISN'T?? We are even being discouraged from growing our own vegetables. They really want us to be 100% reliant on supermarkets.

I wish you had not made this video. First, it's a waste of effort and arrows to kill small animals, compared to deer and larger game, for which one deer feeds many people or a few a long time. A rabbit? One doesn't even make one meal for one person, yet you wasted the same effort and materials you put into killing a deer. Second, one deer is one living being sacrificed for you, your family, your group to live. One rabbit? More like a dozen. You have to kill dozens of lives to to get the same survival value that you get from taking just one. That also multiplies the chances of leaving orphan babies to die without their mothers. My dad was an archery champion and a devoted bow hunter... until he killed a possum. When he took the shot, he couldn't see that there were 4 babies clinging to their now dying mother. That was the last animal he hunted.

    • @AaronHatton

Waste of Arrows my guy ITS BLUNT HE ONLY USED 1 ARROW HE SAID IT IN THE VIDEO. also you dad shot the mother of a possum ok so what, animals kill the mother of other animals, so by your description your father kinda sounds like a puss puss.

What other game can you get with a primitive blunt?

Have you given any thought to hunting with a sling? I am not sure on the legality of it, but I know it has the power to deliver a humane kill just based on target practice I have done over the years. Accuracy is the mane challenge I see, however the sling has many styles that can applied to different situations. All of this is in reference to small game of course.

With game that small, and tender, wouldn't a sharpened shaft be slightly more effective? I'm thinking, with an arrow attached, they would't make it down a hole as easily.

My experience shooting rabbits with a longbow made me prefer blunts, hands down, over field-type points. Sharp arrows pass completely through over half the time, allowing the rabbit to run even if the hit was a fatal one. You lose them down holes, etc. A blunt also does more tissue damage than a shaft diameter sharp point and, more often than not, remains in the rabbit, impeding it's ability to navigate through briars and brush. Broad headed arrows kill rabbits more rapidly than either blunts or field points but also have a pass through problem as well as being more easily deflected if you are shooting at a hunkered rabbit in it's favorite briar patch. They will ALL work, just saying that if you shoot an equal number of rabbits with blunts and field points in the type of terrain I hunt, you will recover more shot with blunts by a good margin.

Do you worry about worms or disease when hunting rabbit in the warmer months? That has been a big deterrent for me, or possibly more of an excuse.
There is some public land around me that has rabbit, but I'd say if you get one shot at one, its a decent day. I'd love to get one or two with the bow, but worry about the diseases everyone keeps on about and not sure if its worth it. "after the first frost" is the time to hunt rabbit, but what about the down times in the warmer months when you cant hunt deer?!

We don't have those problems with them down here. I've never seen a parasite in one. Also, I don't think it ever frosts this far south.lol deer season down in this zone actually starts in late July, and bucks are dropping Antlers around Christmas.

Hi I was wondering if you would class a slingshot as a primitive hunting tool would love to know what you think I enjoy slingshot hunting but don't know if it's classt as primitive hunting

    • @huntprimitive9918
      @huntprimitive9918  4 года назад

there are no real classifications I suppose, just however you feel about it.A slingshot definitely adds a level of difficulty to the hunt. It wouldn't be primitive in regards to that there are no rubber bands found in nature, but otherwise, it doesn't really have to have a label on it for yo to enjoy it.

@@huntprimitive9918 I think you are totally right with that and like you say it doesn't take away the enjoyment of slingshot hunting thanks for your reply

The flank meat is perfect for slow cooking in lard. First you salt cure it (salt, sugar, and whatever spices you want) for 24hrs, then rinse and wipe it, season it and toss it in the pot in preheated lard. You want the lard to be just barely simmering. Cook for 2-4hrs and it's AMAZING. I raised rabbit for meat and I'd save up 10 or so (you can freeze them until you have enough) and then cook like this. I call it 'anything' meat because you can literally put it in anything as a filler. Even more than you can chicken lol. Alfredo, burritos, literally anything you'd use a meat filler in.
Awesome video man! Thanks for sharing.

So I’m making a knife blade out of a rock and I want it to look like a normal knife how should I sharpen the edges of the rock, I have a 8- inch file and rocks

    • @huntprimitive9918

a file won't do you any good on a rock. A stone knife needs to be flintknapped
