- The Sims 4 has been around for a while now, some would say it has overstayed it’s welcome! I’ve been seeing a few posts lately form simmers who are missing some of the best bit we got in the sims 3 and I’ve heard that the word on the street is that the sims 3 is better than the sims 4.
Well I’ve decided to take matters into my own hands and find out which game is better in a new comparison series where I’ll be looking at the top features of the sims 3 and sims 4 games and expansion packs to conclude which sims game is best.
This first video is an analysis of the sims 3 base games vs the sims 4 base game. We will be looking at the create-a-sim features, the world in both games and most importantly, the game play features of the sims 3 and the sims 4.

I feel like the expansion packs for sims 2 and 3 EXPANDED the game but the expansion packs for the sims 4 complete the game, they don't add anything extra, they just fill the stuff that should have been included in the base game.

Exactly this. The expansion packs in Sims 4 don’t add anything to the game. They complete the game itself. Every expansion pack in the Sims 4 should have been included in the base game instead.
This is why EA is among the most hated game development companies in the world
THIS! Also expansions are supposed to -expand a game-, not replace it, so why do they cost as much as the base game, each?
I got the base game and it's so boring that I can't play it without mods now (which they keep breaking with updates).
To some extent that's true which is one of the reasons I didn't actually play TS4 for the first years... but I don't fully agree with you.
For example, the latest expansion, the farming one (dunno what it's called in English). You can't claim that one didn't actually expand the game? At most levels the "hate" against Sims 4 is disproportional.
the sims 3 is pretty a base game u can play for hours, MAYBE you could buy 1 expansion pack but overall great without any packs whereas the sims 4 you NEED packs at least 3 to enjoy the game

literally the only ts3 expansion i ever got was late night and i never ever got sick of it, and that was after like a full year just playing base game

I used to play with Seasons EP only for quite a while.
Yeah, I got Seasons, Cats & Dogs (bundled with My First Pet Stuff…and EA wonders why everyone hates them; Also, still don’t understand why cats and dogs can have heterochromia but sims can’t without mods), Get Famous, and City Living. (I also have game packs; Realm of Magic, Vampires, and Parenthood.) I can’t imagine playing Sims 4 without them again.
However, I remember playing The Sims 3 on my Xbox 360 and despite the fact that my mom bought a used copy, making the code to use the gallery for free useless, I remember that it was a lot of fun. Never bought a single expansion pack. I am considering buying The Sims 3 on Steam but my computer is running low on space, which is why half of the games in my Steam library is still not installed.
Personally, I prefer the way the sims 3 has the open world. I do wish they kept that and allowed us to go inside the public buildings.
Yeah, The Sims2 had shops and restaurants (and you could build theatres and jails) which were also in The Sims4 including science labs and hospitals. In addition to the lecture halls (and finally open restaurants) in The Sims3 which showed us they can easily give us open lots for most careers.

I Preferably want open neighborhood because I feel like if you have open wall the game is gonna run so slow and that was the main problem for the sims 3. I use to play sims 3 on Xbox and open neighborhood worked amazing
@@aysiavlog Nah, you have to remember that TS3 was a 32-bit game and couldn’t use more than 4gb of ram, which is why it was so slow and often crashed.

For me, since it’s a game heavily involved with emotion, I don’t understand why they removed the depth and layers sims 3 had. In sims 3, if your sim cheated and someone else witnessed that, they could gossip it to other sims and that info could make its way to your sims spouse and cause issues. In sims 4, unless your sim cheats in front of the spouse, they don’t really care 🤷♀️

There are some decent mods these days that replicate some of the smoothness in the visuals in Sims 4, nothing perfect or one to one, but you can make it look pretty nice for a game that’s over ten years old.
Definitely, sims 3 with sims 4 art & maybe including emotional stages to a lesser degree would be the perfect game

@@Its_Alee Yeah, the reason why I don’t play The Sims 4 on console. I have several mods on the PC version like MC Command Center and Basemental Drugs. I also have other mods that are purely cosmetic like one that adds hair physics to hair styles, and another one that allow Sims to have heterochromia (different colored eyes).

I'd like to argue against "behavior" going to Sims 4 for two reasons. One, Sims 3 they'll actually do what you ask them to do in a timely manner (which makes the game less frustrating), and two, 3 isn't nearly as glitchy as 4. I've almost had toddlers taken away by CPS because the adult would just stare at them in the high chair instead of feeding them, letting them out, or giving them a bath. I've had starving Sims who refused to eat the meal I told them to eat because they would rather cook six meals first. 4 is so glitchy that behavior is not better.
I do like the emotions, and I do like Sims using their emotions when they follow prompts. But I don't like Sims glitching out, ignoring me, standing there like a dingus for a solid, literal minute, before they run off to do something else that I never told them to do.
Also heaven forbid another sim be anywhere near them when they eat or level up a skill. They get so caught up in yacking that they stall completing their task or gaining skill/finishing their meal.
To tack onto what you are saying: depending on what the EA Team does for a Sims 4 update, there's a chance my Sims become more obnoxious to play with. There was one update that just made toddlers constantly angry. I got so fed up with it, I went back to TS3. And holy hell the gameplay is so different! TS3 - only need to pee/shower/eat *twice* a day, and it's not a massive "oh ffs" drag like it is in TS4. I don't feel like I'm staring at my sim waiting for them to eat/pee/shower so they can get back to whatever I wanted them to be doing. They seem to take care of the baby just fine for the most part (I seem to have memories of one of the Sims games wherein toddler was constantly being put in the high chair when toddler was *screaming* because it was tired and needed to go to bed...I really thought that was TS3, and maybe it was, but it's not happening my current play through because I'm better at playing the game now).
I always forget how much I love Sims 2/Sims 3 "toddlers just have a single yes/no for walk/talk/potty skills to develop and you can just develop them in one day." I like the aesthetics and the create a sim content in TS4. I kind of like the emotion system...otherwise everything else in TS4 is kind of "meh" for me.
If ea would compile sims 3 with some pertinent expansions, upgrade graphics a little, and optimize the game for newer hardware so we can finally play without lags or crash THEN rename it sims 5...
I won't complain.
Mass Effect legendary was a big hit for EA and they barely did anything. Just upgraded a few things and released. Sims 3 should be next. Just some modernization and make easy money. Win for everyone.

The Sims 4 is the pinnacle of a bunch of good ideas very poorly executed, almost all concepts of Sims 4 are amazing, but most of them seem rushed and ea's attitude feels like "ugh I have to actually make stuff to sell" and that bothers me a lot.
Sims 3 ftw every time. I know create a sim and is much more pretty and the building creations are awesome but everything else literally everything else is better in the Sims 3!
Can you put windows on roofs in Sims 4? Cause I've never played 4 but have been playing Sims 3 a lot recently, and have been building a lot of mid century moderns, but unfortunately you can't place windows on the roof segments which is incredibly sad because that's one of the really iconic features to mid century modern architecture.

when i was a child, i used to play the sims 3 base game and i loved it! ages later, i find myself installing it again but this time exploring it's dlcs too. i'd say the sims 3 packs just add another touch to the game, making it better. but the sims 4? oh boy. the new installment NEEDS dlc in order to be enjoyable. like. its not "oh i can buy this pack if i want to" its "i NEED this pack to enjoy the game/have some gameplay in it".
i have all expansion packs plus mods and STILL get bored with the game. it’s kind of sad
i recentlz stalled some packs and accessorie packs for ts3 i haven't had when I was younger and it feels so good exploring the game again, recognizing new things, I feel like I'm home
Just imagine playing sims 3 with all expansion packs, with only cc hair, a huge custom world like St. Claire or Alpine County with 300 sims living there and nraas mods for better performance and gameplay on a very decent gamelaptop on high settings😉 it blows your mind. Yes loading times are about 5 min and saving about 4 min, but I take it😁 Sims 3 used to be quite hellish on my 2007 shitty laptop but now it's heaven! Even the pudding sims can be made really pretty and realistic if you take the time and use cc hair. Love it and I own everything sims 4, still it bores me to death fast. I own all sims 3 expansions and a few store items and it's been entertaining since it came out.
How big do your save files get?? My current favorite save is about 140 mbs but my older one got to about 550 mbs before I stopped playing it and with nraas it wasn’t really too bad to play, it just got corrupted pretty easily but my current save isn’t as bad with that
@@alimica big, 180, 240 and more and stuff like that😂 but they keep working well for now. I do use save cleaner and use all the nraas performance mods to keep it going. So I do work on them to keep them small. I also have done alot of tweaking, altering the figures in sims3 game files (graphics etc), so they work better with new game laptops. That was life changing! Sims 3 is old and designed for 32 bit, 2 gig ram, low graphicscard etc. When you tweak everything, it works so much better. Also make sure I always update all the drivers.
Save as to reduce save speed dramatically
I guess in Alpine County they may that long. But it only takes 25 seconds to load a save game on a modern gaming PC. I have videos on my channel to prove it.

I like that you brought up that sims 4 toddlers, while adorable, can pretty much care for themselves and don't need adults help for anything. That's honestly the main reason why I'm not to fond of sims 4 toddlers. Raising them doesn't feel as rewarding to me since they can do almost everything on their own.
Sims 4 toddlers only won out on aesthetics.
Ironically this is why I preferred the Sims 4 toddlers while being a pretty devoted Sims 3 fan. I even got some CC so my toddlers could sleep in a bed without me having to make my Sim put them in their crib. It all comes down to preference, I guess.

I am also not impressed that it took them 3 years to add toddlers to Sims 4 when they were in base game on release in Sims 3. When you think about it Sims 2 and Sims 1 only had 4 years of content.
Only thing I like with the sims 4 toddler is toddler dance. I wish the sims 3 toddler could dance without mod. 😭
Although I do love toddlers in sims 4, it really bothers me that they can just put themselves to bed if your sim is too busy playing on the computer. It makes me feel like a neglectful parent. Sims 3 will forever by my fave, though, no matter how much prettier sims 4 is.
A point most don't make: Yes, Riverview was "DLC," but it was free. If EA were to produce Riverview today, you can bet it wouldn't be free. Also, if you never leave the house in Sims 3, you'll get a "cabin fever" debuff. 😀
The Sims 3 Base Game is far, far superior to The Sims 4 Base Game. And since TS3 EPs are also better for the most than TS4 EPs, it wins also when you compare fully expanded games. The Sims 4 has nicer graphics, a more user-friendly UI, and a better CAS and Build Mode. But when it comes to gameplay, The Sims 3 is the superior experience. I can play TS3 for hours and hours without getting bored. I can't play TS4 for more than hour because there's nothing to do. Sims in 4 are extremely boring and lack personality, there's no challenge, no conflict. It's a really boring game to be honest.
I know it's a bit of an old comment, but I feel this so much. Every time I think about playing TS4 I just end up customizing sims and downloading cc and mods for hours, then I go to Live Mode and I'm bored within an hour. I have to micromanage my sims or they'll just play on their computer or drink water all day long.
I do prefer Sims 4 toddlers.. but that's only because I have a toddler in real life and the thought of sticking them in a cute outfit and letting them take care of themselves sounds just fucking peachy.
Sims 4 is unplayable without mods for me, Sims 3 didn't even need mods when I started and I had a blast without mods

And terrain tools which it took 7 years to add in. When Sims 1, Sims 2 and Sims 3 only had around 5 years for their base games and packs.

I'm honestly glad you didn't just automatically give sims 4 the build mode and create a sim ones cause in functionality, sims 3 is better due to the immense customizability. Sims 4 basically just streamlined it (at the cost of most of the customization) as well as updating the graphics
Regarding the movability between worlds, in The Sims3 each world is its own saved game, so of course they'd be separate. Meanwhile, in The Sims4, all the worlds are a single saved game, and you have to reset your whole play to create a new save file...
Also, the emotions replace the mood meter in previous games, and even in them many activities were disabled whenever your sims were in a bad mood.

Edit: I completely forgot I commented on here but I will elaborate. The sims 3 base game is full of many things to do whilst the sims 4 base game is kinda…lacking. It needs work and it’s not hard to tell that the Sims 4 needs work done to it, even after 7 years.

My personal summarizer
Sims 3: Solid gameplay (with actual difficulty)
Sims 4: Solid CAS and build/buy
I boot up sims 4 when I wanna build or create a very specific sim. I play Sims 3 when I want to feel like my sim is actually part of a world. The loading time is worth being able to visit my goddamn neighbors and local park without another loading screen, which add up very quickly in sims 4. And also. I HATE building in sims 3. It's clunky and painful and I can't even touch the paint tool thing because it slows down my game so much😂 Not to mention that when the patterns and colors do load, I get overwhelmed by choice and end up using a preset swatch anyways so there's no point anymore. But that's that ramble aside-

Bruh it took me 7 sims days to finally convince a a sim with Commitment issues to go out with my sims😅 I might have have to fight you on the last one but I respect your opinion everyone gameplay Experience is completely different from each other lol🙌🏾
I really like that challenge of trying to take a sim with commitment issues on a date or something, but it's always so satisfying at the end!
also, in the sims 4 i can definitely flirt with a married sim extremely fast. i think theres only been 2 times out of my 3 years of playing this game that a married sim didnt like my advances.
Ya I think the personality in the Sims 3 was better too. The Sims 4 all seem like carbon copies of eachother
Also cheating and even getting caught in bims 4 rarely has consequences, but in sims 3 , because if they are seen by 'anyone' at all cheating, word spreads, and when the partner/spouse finds out they can break up and choose never to forgive, and spouse can divorce you, but they do also have the possibility to decide to forgive IF the cheater has been trying to make up for what they did, thats quite complex and gives sims 3 that last category for me over sims 4
oh man, this one is sort of "fish in a barrel" tbh, The Sims 3 base game is so good. When I think back on the most fun I've had with The Sims 3, honestly the time my mind always goes back to is playing the base game when it first came out. No frills, no expansions, no mods, just the base game. It was such a fun time, it felt like there was so much to do and experience in the game. I've of course sunk many more hours in since and played through all expansions, but nothing compares to that initial experience.

They weren’t. And I’m so over the teens are short trope. I actually prefer the taller teens. Maybe In sims 5 they will actually give us a damn height sliders that way a person can make their teens as seen fit.

I don't quite understand how can one favor the tiny still image from a browser game (which is what the worlds looks like to me in Sims 4) over the gorgeous open world glory in The Sims 3, but Okay, I guess...
She did say them still images are pretty... poor sims 3. :(

I have been playing the Sims 1 recently and the Sims 4 worlds aren’t much of improvement over Sims 1 worlds.
I have exactly the opposite problem in my games. I will try to get a married Sim in the Sims 3 and EVERYTHING will go wrong and my Sim will end up with a bad reputation or some ish because of it. In the Sims 4, it is SOOOO much easier to get them to leave their partners.
YEAH when she mentioned that I was so confused. Sims 4 is so easy to convince a sim to break up with their spouse. Take two photos with them, flirt flirt flirt, first kiss, convince to leave spouse, ask to be boyfriend, propose, elope immediately. All of that can be done in about 8 sim hours tops.
Whereas I’m currently on sim day 4 of trying to convince some girl to leave her boyfriend in the sims 3
@@shelovesher600 I know, right? It took me 3 Sim days to get the girl to go on a SECOND date because I am so used to playing the sims 4 and tried to propose too early and she thought my sim was a creep and wouldn't talk to him for a while. I finally got her to agree to be my roommate (right after the second date) and was able to get them engaged after about 6 sim days. It took so much work because the Sims in sims 3 don't like when you move too fast or spam the same interactions over and over. It makes it a little more realistic, which is nice.
ive always say this but sims 3 is substance over style and sims4 is style over substance
Hands down sims 3 base game is better. Get some stability and performance mods. That allows you to do things like use more then 2 gigs of ram and you can have many hours of fun. Even with majority of the expansion and game packs. I still find my self having a hard time getting as much fun from Sim 4 compared to base Sims 3. Then add in the expansion to sims 3 and you would need like 100 mods to come close to sims 3 fun levels.
This is EA sims 3 with only stability and performance mods. Add in Sims 3 gameplay mods and wow sims 4 is garbage compared to Sims 3. With Sims 4 building and create a sim being the only elements that is better than Sims 3.
Let's hope Sims 5 has more sims 3 in it and less Sims 4.

really? there are more rabbit holes in ts4 compared to ts3, jobs for example are one in which ts3 you can see the building but on ts4 they just teleport out of the lot... and that increases after all the packs, atleast get to work provided some, but playability on ts4?? come on now
The thing I like most about the sims 3 open world is that the other sims exist, and aren't just conjured out of the world when the game feels that it needs them. They feel like they exist, which I don't get with the sims 4.
Yes it's true that the Sims 4 allows you to travel between worlds with the cost of loading screen while the Sims 3 doesn't offer you that , but thinking retorically , the Sims 4 worlds are inherently inferior to the Sims 3 worlds when it comes to public lots interactions , on an alone Sims 3 worlds you have seasonal festivals , bars , stadiums , concert stadiums , cinemas , laboratories, beaches and even if some of them are Rabbitt holes , you can at least make woohoo on them , on sims 4 the ability to travel around world is useless if every single Sims 4 lot only contains less than five lot which three of them are residential, one is a library and the other one is an empty lot , Sims 4 lots are emaculated, they're small, they're not as interactive. I prefer only one world if this world is vibrant and offers you an incommensurate amount of funny interactions to do ,and even more if a Sims 3 worlds contains a higher amount of public lots with a higher amount of interactions on each one of them than all of Sims 4 worlds combined .
Sims 4 worlds are like the Sims 1s but 1 kept expanding the worlds and 4s keep getting smaller.
something i liked a lot about sims 3 was i could just go outside and meet people, or go to the park or gym and also have a sim somewhere else and play them. But the way that you have to travel to get somewhere and can only play those that you chose to travel with makes it way to complicated in my opinion. It should be easy to just go somewhere and still have control over every sim. So thats why i never leave the house, which makes it so boring
To be honest, The Sims 3 graphic much better than The Sims 4. Sims 4 looks really dark and cartoony and plain textures. Sims 3 much realistic graphic especially environment and textures details

I remember when I first started playing sims 4 (base game), after a few while I was feeling sad that I can't feel the enjoyment I used to with sims 3. Turns out sims 4 is really disappointing in terms of overall gameplay, it's so restrictive and feel like a dollhouse game. Sims 4 is really pretty; characters design, lots and houses design, the scenery, are all aesthetically pleasing. Although, sims 4 feels... way too clean... but that's just my opinion.
Under the hobbies. You kinda forgot the challenges in the skills. Which add more perks to you and makes your skills better. Like have enough friends and your sims friendships never decay. This is a pretty big thing as Sims 4 got a lesser version of this under their aspiration.

I agree. I think that the gallery makes it worse as there are so many good homes. I find you don’t have enough lots for all the homes or community lots. It’s a shame that Sims 4 got rid of the ability to place lots as it was a feature in both Sims 2 and Sims 3.
yes sims 3 hands down is a winner, but i disagree with sims 4 getting that last category as, there are no consequences to getting caught cheating, in the sims 3 you are more likely to get caught out as 'word spreads, in the sims 3, but it has consequences BIG ones, your sims partner , even if married, can flat out refuse to forgive and then divorce your sim, so cheater beware, they also can choose to forgive and try to work on fixinf the relationship that hands down gives sims 3 that category.
I remember as a kid I had sims 3 base game and sims 3 late night. I would stay up every saturday night until 5am playing it. I would come home from school and immediately play it for hours. They gave me so much entertainment and joy. I still play the sims 3 all the time now (granted I have all the expansions now instead).
I don’t have every expansion for sims 4, I stopped buying them when I realised I got much more bang for my buck with the sims 3. I can do sims 4 CAS for hours, I’ll admit that. But hop into the game and i’m done after 20 minutes tops, even with all these packs. I’ve literally fallen asleep on my laptop multiple times whilst playing because it’s just.. not fun. It’s a shame really.
My personal take is this. The sims 2 was made with love and compassion. The team behind that loved their game and it shows. The sims 3 had more influence from money hungry people. The expansions were pricey, but you got good content for the price. The store was mostly a rip off. The sims 4 is an outright cash grab. No one on the team cares about the intricacies of their product. They care about keeping their jobs and producing a functioning game, fun or not.

I think that the Hobbies point should've went to The Sims 3, because unlike The Sims 4 where skills are fully complete once you reach level 10, The Sims 3 has these little things called "skill challenges." For example, if you write 25 novels of the same book type, you get a bonus for bestsellers when you use that genre, or if you befriend 25 different sims it becomes a lot easier to fill up the relationship bar. But I do understand, and the rest of the video is very in-depth.

Back in 2014 i played sims 4 base game and never felt more disappointed that i got bored in less than 3 hours
In regards to travelling to other lots and the loading screens, although they can be annoying i do prefer to have a short loading screen and then the lot I travel to to have other sims around rather than a nightclub being dubbed a hot stop and my sim being the only one there other than the bartender
Sims 4 got improved graphics at the cost of gameplay. Sims 3 imo is still the best Sims game out there
Honestly I find myself preferring Sims 3 if I had to choose. The only reason I play sims 4 is because my PC doesn't work right now. Like, for the longest time I played Sims 3 with just Supernatural and I was hooked!
you can download the sims 3 64 bit on the internet is a mod and it works well, just a little bit of lags
if you could take the emotion feature and the drag and move features from create a sim from the sims 4 and bring it into the sims 3. That would make it pretty much the perfect sims of the series!

I built the most boring sim I could, last week on Sims 3. She's a gardener who lives alone in a starter home...
She grew plants till winter. I had her start writing books for income. She wrote a science fiction that I randomly decided to name "alien reincarnation", and an elderly alien came by to visit!! I think she wanted to read it. Then I got a notification that my sims books were banned in Sim China & someone requested I smuggle one in.
That was only one day of gameplay in Sims 3. 🤣

yes i’ve been playing since i was 9 and i’m 22 now it’s still fun to play. i definitely reccomend you play it it’s 1000x better than ts4 and i haven’t gotten tired of sims 3 after all these years.
i totally think the sims 3 wins! i have never played it, but it seems so much better to me.
The sims 4 is way better for building since you can influence the size of the objects and move them higher then the slot is. You can also choose between a few sizes of walls and the graphic is way better. In the sims 3 you had the color palette which was a huge advantage but the other reasons make sims 4 way more interesting for bilders

As far as I know, you cannot create an actual pond although maxis featured terrain tool, so the builders make a pool to make it looks like a pond in the sims 4. What a joke. I like some features in build mode in the sims 4, but still think the sims 3 is better for the advanced builders. If you have many experiences in building, you can actually make flexed roofs, and create a small water fall in your home lot in the sims 3
I enjoyed your analysis of the games and I agree that Sims 3 is better. There was only 3 areas I didn't agree with but overall it's Sims 3 hands down. I think the only things that make people want to play Sims 4 over 3 are the CAS and the different worlds.
One thing you didn't mention that I really love in Sims 3 is the ability to buy business in town. I have a Legacy Challenge game in Sims 3 where I own almost the entire town and just love collecting that rent. :-)

When the Sims 4 was released and the initial reception was pretty bad, I decided to not buy it and continue collecting sims 3 expansions instead. Watching this, I feel like I made the right choice.

I used to hate the loading screens until I got a computer decent at running the game. Loading screens used to take literally multiple minutes. Now it's always under 30 seconds at most. Idk if that's still long for some people but its a lot easier to sit for 20 seconds than it is to sit for two minutes just to go to the park.

On the sims apperance, i agree with the "pudding" thing, but without any cc i prefer 100% ts3 and ts4 over ts2
I dont even care about the pudding thing, game play and soooo much to do and freedom to cross the road to your friends house without a loading screen and just about everything in the sims 3 wins it for me every time :D
Do I remember correctly that we could later clothes in Sims 3?? Like a top and then jacket?? I hate in the Sims 4 bass game that we can't layer clothes and that the choice of colors is so limited... too few pieces actually match and you and up with the same 10 or so outfits every time

From a gameplay perspective you technically can't layer clothes in s3, but there are tops and bottoms with built in layers

One aspect if you revisit you could touch on is the UI. I find Sims 4 much nicer and easier to use, with a much less intrusive ui. But others may find different aspects of both more or less appealing.

Sims 4 base game feels like it's high qualited build/desing game instead of sims game, building homes and creating sims are amazing but game play is just trash. I used to play sims 3 base game for a long time and didnt get bored at all. Also sims 3 has best expansion packs, even one of them can change the whole game but in sims 4 you need all expansion packs for full potential.

i wil say, i do like going inside of lots in the Sims 4. i am realizing i like a lot about TS4. while i need mods to make it fun, i need those for TS3 and TS2 as well, truly. i didn't in the past, but i also played with less depth as a child. i think TS2 holds up the best without mods, but i NEED story progression or all of the games feel empty. my biggest issue with TS4 is the cash grab vibe it gives off, but i really do love some of the features so, so much. :) your videos have helped me form these opinions, along with playing the three versions i mentioned over the past summer.
i made my sims prettier in the sims 3 than 4, and some of the npc in sims 3 looks pretty (ofc not everyone is pretty by the look)
As a sims fan I tried playing the sims 4 and it just isn’t the same the fact that one of the expansion packs like pets. Pets in the sims 3 was so wonderful the fact you could control the pets was wonderful but when you go to sims 4 you can’t thats just one out of many reasons that we need to take a stand at EA and tell them what we really want. If we ever want a sims 3 sequel were gonna have to tell ea what we want so please comment down below so we can start a thing where we stop participating in sims 4 cause we deserve better.

I literally just started playing sims 4. I'm very new and I have already downloaded mods to make the game play more interesting. I bought almost all the packs and its still feels there's something missing.

I played A LOT of base Sims 3 lol, never bought a pack. I bought sims 4 two years ago giving it a try now.
Reading the comments here, expansion packs are needed. Recommend me three because I am not enjoying Sims 4. All the big and small features I loved are gone
EPs:
1. Get Together for sure. The Club system is really fun, especially with mods to expand the amount of activities you can choose from.
2. Discover University, with mods to make it a little harder or more expensive-- depending on your gameplay, is pretty okay.
3. Seasons, I guess, is another one that could be alright if you like gardening.
GPs:
1. Parenthood adds some more interactions between a parent and child Sim and that can be great if you like family gameplay.
2. Dream Home Decorator is kind of fun if you like to build a lot, but wanna call it playing. Also, you can just change everyone's house and it's sort of fun to play a klepto Sim and steal from your clients.
3. Spa Day can be okay, if you want the simple aspirations and the incense/spa stuff.
4. Dine Out is so buggy, but with Carl's Dine Out Mod, it's pretty playable now.
SPs:
1. Nifty Knitting is kind of fun for an extra skill.
2. Tiny Living added a new death type, so that's something.
3. Laundry Day can be okay, if you like the micromanaging.
Overall, I just have a bunch of mods that I like and use to make the game more fun and useable. Some of the incredible modders I follow are Arnie, Carl's Sims Guides, LittleMsSam, DeaderPool, and KiaraSims4Mods. Good places to start, if you're interested/are on PC.
I never really played much of the sims 3, I think i only owned the basegame as a kid and I was put off by the clay people aesthetic. I remember it felt so hard to make attractive sims, they all looked so goopy and round!) So it's cool to see these comparisons!
Although it was annoying, I liked how you had to really WORK to propose in the Sims 3 "you brought me over and didn't feed me first" was a complaint of one of mine 🤦🏾♀️ it should character

The only reason we play the sims 4 over sims 3 is the graphics, build mode and the fact that my computer doesn't take flight when running it. In every other way, the sims 3 is superior.

I love the sims2 ,sims3, and sims4 so much. All of them are really unique games with diff styles of gameplay. The sims franchise is a great franchise i really enjoy each game for what they have. Sims2 is for family oriented. Sims3 is great for exploring the worlds. Sims4 is great to roleplay.
I think sims 4 should’ve won out for careers. Yes it lacks the open world aspect and it is a bit shit that they just disappear and come back but when you consider how careers actually function I think the sims 4 just does it better. I think it’s more realistic for you to have to level up skills and complete tasks to get promoted. Jobs feel like an afterthought on the sims 3, you really could just ignore the suggestions for their career completely and your sim will get promoted eventually anyways. In the sims 4 if you do nothing you will get nothing in return.
School projects and tasks came with the parenthood pack I think. In my brother's computer where I installed the Sims 4 base game, there are no projects or tasks at all.
The sims 4 has packs that are pretty much just diffrent swatches of other pack objects sims 3 on the other hand, has packs with elebrate new gameplay features, new, usable and relevant objects, yes the sims 4 obviously has packs with original ideas but the ideas always seem grander than the actual outcome, sims 3 feels like they had an idea that just got turned into a huge new part of the game.
Im willing to buy ts3 but im afraid if the game would get lag or something because of the EP

I want to like sims 4 but I can’t! Not open world, and the camera is super hard to move around. Sims 3 keeps me entertained for hours on end. Sims 4 feels very restrictive and not being able to customize colors and patterns drives me insane. I’ll be playing sims 3 lol
even though i prefer Sims 3 over Sims 4, i am so glad that you're comparing the base game for both games.. there's people out there that take the complete version of Sims 3 with expansions at all and compare it to base game Sims 4 at launch and then go "oh Sims 3 has more content than Sims 4, because in Sims 3 you have unicorns while Sims 4 didn't even have toddlers at first" and i'm like, how is that even a fair comparison?
but it is true that Sims 4 doesn't have content (even WITH expansion) and requires mods just to be playable..

while i think the sims 3 is better than the sims 4 in general, the cas and build by is objectively better in ts4. the personalities/traits aren't so great, but the amount of options for customisation in cas and all the different things you can do in build by are incredible. the only thing putting ts3 over the top is the colour wheel/create a style imo.
I just bought Sims 3 a few days ago because of beeing so bored with Sims 4. After playing for an hour, I was so overwhelmed by HOW good a Sims-Game actually can be. I had no idea. I can play any Sim, both the Sim who leaves the lot and the Sim who stays at home - I didn't realize it first because it's impossible in Sims 4. OMG, so good. Babys are no longer "things". I can even play pets.. and these huge number of traits. And horses, of course. Eye-lashes without using CC. And, and, and... What a fun game to play. I spent almost 1000 euros on Sims 4, just for a barbie doll and nice lego game. Such a waste of money.

I don't mind the lack of open world if I get plenty of places to interact with after the loading screen. So while I am considering investing in a new computer I don't know if I should lean Sims 4 or 3. As there are a lot if cool mods for 3, but things I've seen in let's play videos that have me interested in 4.
Sims 3 worlds Best
Moving to other world easily in the sims 4 isn’t attractive to me. Because..there are some sims of your favorites in all towns, you will choose almost of the same sims for your sims’ relationship even in the newly created games, so you won’t feel it’s the new game or new town in the sims 4. I think this is one of the reasons the sims 4 gets bored quicker. So I prefer the sims 3 world system more. You can meet totally new residents in the new game if you choose a different world as a new game.
That's a good point. It would be nice if sims of one area stayed mostly in that area. Maybe occasionally you'd see them elsewhere but it's not realistic to have them constantly all over the place.

Before I clicked this video, I was like is this even a fair competition... Like Sims 3 is so much better... How does Sims 4 win on Design for Worlds... There is barely any design in the Sims 4.
Also The Sims 3 create a world tool which allows you to create and design your own world from scratch.
My honest opinion and personal I think sims 3 is better
