I just got it. I got the mechanical optical brown version. I realized I need to learn to type better with this new keyboard and enrolled into exercises online keyboard typing programs. I found myself some keys hitting by accident too easily particularly near space because I use keys above space bar with thumb so I need to re-relearn to type them properly without thumb. My keyboard is not loud but it has a nice tactile feel.
I thought about getting this keyboard but went with the magic keyboard instead. I type so much on the laptop about 50/50 usage so I figure it'll be annoying typing on two different layouts and styles.
I not sure yet about this keyboard. But I’m long time Apple’s magic keyboard user and i noticed that I can slide from one button to another without lifting up a finger too much. I see that this Keychron K3 have noticeable gaps between keys, but I still like how it looks.
I thought about that sliding gesture too a lot when switching but it is really a pleasure to type on after a day or two of adjusting - I now prefer it to the super-flat ones. It is however quite flat for a mechanical keyboard still.
@@Mar-kl3qy oh boy, it is an unwritten rule in the mechanical keyboard community to never use clicky switches. I would stay away from that elitist wallet obliterating community.

hi, thanks for the great review. can I just ask how the bluetooth connectivity has been for you? have you been getting any dropped signals or disconnections after you leave the keyboard idle for a while. Thank you!
@@brandonlim9536 Hello, I just randomly read your comment, they keyboard disconnects when idle for 10 min or so, it is a feature and it is index 5 in the manual. You can disable it by pressing fn + S + O for a few seconds. Read the manual guys.
Hmm, interesting review! I've had my K6 since April of 2021 and was thinking of giving it to my dad since he loved it so much haha. I find myself writing more comfortably and with fewer typing errors on my m1 macbook air's keyboard so i was thinking about getting the magic keyboard to replace the K6. But then there is the customizability of the keychron keyboards. Getting new switches, lubing them, foaming it, all kinds of stuff that the magic keyboard doesn't have. Maybe i'll keep it as a fun project keyboard to practice modding keebs, still deciding. Thanks for the info tho!
In the built in laptop keyboard? I'm not sure if the key itself is broken or just overly dirty - I'll be doing some maintenance of that laptop soon(ish) probably but I don't use it anymore now
Would you recommend someone who's getting into mechanical keyboards from an Apple Magic Keyboard go to tactile switches for more comfort while typing? Thinking I may enjoy using Gateron/Cherry MX Browns. Have some other ideas, but it'd be great if someone can measure out the key travel for the Magic Keyboards so I can have something to compare it with. I type scripts and other long-form text for work.
I just got (today) the Keychron K5 Ultra-Slim Wireless Mechanical with white backlight and Low Profile Gateron Brown switches. I am still getting used to it. My typing accuracy and speed are immediately improved. Some of the placements of the keys (escape, tab, fn, and arrows) are not in the same place as a full size Apple keyboard, so that will take some getting used to. But I am really liking the typing experience thus far. I'm a programmer / web developer, if that info is of any use to you.
I work on a MacBook Pro 16" (2019) with a couple of BT devices connected (Keychron K3, Wacom Intuos Pro M, Apple Magic Mouse and Apple AirPods Max). The stability of BT is absolutely unacceptable, devices get laggy or even disconnect on a random basis. I did quite a lot of testing and found out that I the Keychron K3 is the culprit - when I disconnect it everything runs smoothly. Has anyone experienced similar issues? I am close to getting rid of the keyboard, but I'd hate to do it because it's so good to type with...
I have both this keyboard, i prefer the apple keyboard, it feels like magic keyboard is easier to connect when it comes to bluetooth also... It is much faster.
Apple will replace your laptops keyboard for free, however they do replace it with the exact same part. So your keyboard will fail after a year. Maybe you could get the keyboard replaced then sell your laptop?
Not sure if they'll do that that many years after purchase. I plan to actually fix it a bit (the battery is also a bit poor now + the right speaker seems to be much quiter than the left) and then sell it.

@@MalewiczHype yeah they’ll replace it within 4 years if the problem is indeed sticky keys. The good thing is that they often replace the whole topcase, which means you’d have a new speaker and battery aswell for free!
@@allanhof6553 On one hand- good on Apple for replacing it. On the other, they really screwed up the butterfly keyboards. The failure rate is awful on those. Also, they are replacing the entire topcase because the keyboard is _riveted_ in, which was not necessary at all and made repairability a lot worse. Not a big fan of recent glue and rivet trends in electronics. And no, these things are _not_ required to make the devices thinner. Tiny screws exist. Glue should never provide rigidity, and cushioning can be achieved by very slim pads.

I went with the default (red) but it works quite well :)
so the gateron?

Do you believe it needs a palm rest ?
I don't use mine with one, but there are accessories and I think they even sell an optional palm rest for it ;)
What about the battery life in comparison ?
The Keychron lasts about a week on a charge, the Magic Keyboard about 3-4 weeks.
Thanks. I thought so. It'll annoy me. I ordered the k6 for this reason but unsure if Ill be able to adjust to the height
