Many years ago i have heard these two songs and sung them using minus one, and had the opportunity to sing "The Promise" with a choir. They say these are beautiful songs and i do like the melodies BUT i never get connected with the whole SOUL of these songs UNTIL i heard streisand's version. I love the live versions of these timeless songs.

Beautiful song lyrics. I have heard many versions of this song, and each artist brings out a different, but beautiful version. What a beautiful voice Barbara Streisand has and her version. I particularly like the second song, never heard it before. Both done beautifully by one of the greatest, Barbara Streisand.
I heard these 2 songs a long time ago sung by other singers, but i can't connect with the songs then until i heard Streisand's version ❤️ she truly is a great story teller
I come back and listen to this over and over again. Especially the promise this version live is just absolutely breathtaking. The way she presented it and the hand motions were just stunning. She doesn't just sing it she acts the music and she's just brilliant. No greater singer ever in this world than Barbra . All so she's just so beautiful in that dress. And the way our hair was done she's just stunning.

Perfection. I have loved her from the start of her career. At 70 years old, I can honestly say that I cannot imagine my life without Barbra Streisand (and Mozart). She has enriched the world with her talent, strength, kindness, artistry, determination and philanthropy.

She is certainly in fine voice at this concert, not that she never was. Always has been a consummate performer who enjoys her craft & each song is a masterpiece as only she knows how to sing them. I hope she never says 'Goodbye' for now at least. I think she still has many years left in her yet until SHE decides it's enough but even Tony Bennett is still going & he is 90+. She would have to be in my book one of the greatest survivors we have on this planet who continues to thrill her fans when she graces the stage. I compliment her for hanging in there regardless of some negativity which I am sure she dismisses.
Perfect observation Pike, even the younger singers nowadays cannot touch her renditions.. every song she sings turned into a masterpiece and given new life. Frankly I knew these songs when I was younger but never got the feel of the song until I heard her versions 🥰

I‘ve seen her in her live concert twice and she’ still sounds good all this years. Her voice is like an instrument that swell across your head and halls. Amazingly beautiful. She’s an inspiration to young artists and as a performer.

I had seen and heard the whole concert before, and these two songs she sang at the end were absolutely the best of the night. But two things hit me this viewing than any viewings before. First thing is the actual meaning of the second song, "The Promise". I used to sing this song in my nightclub acts. Love it. Loved the movie it was from of the same name. But this time the lyrics just hit me hard and realized that she's singing this directly to and for us, her fans who've been there for her all these years. "Our music goes on and on." "When I say always, I mean forever." "I love you." and "I'll never say goodbye." - First lump in my throat! Second lump was after she ended that last song, seeing the first person to stand up and give her a standing ovation was none other than her long-time-from-the-beginning manager, Marty Erlichman. After over six decades with this woman, she can still give him the Streisand chills!
Her voice is a satin music. She is a genious.

i was still young when i heard DS version, my folks loved it but I cannot connect then , heard other singers rendition too- only Streisand's got me connected.
