Took delivery of 2023 KTM RC390 yesterday. Been in the industry from retail to factory rep. Owned a dozen and sold 20,000. THAT SAID...I've put 300 miles ,break in, on it the last 2 days. Its the most fun ive had in years...life DOES NOT begin at 100 HP!
That 390 looks like it's going to be an absolute blast to own and ride. At least you'll be able wring its neck at the track and not be overwhelmed by the power. I'm looking forward to your new toy.
Thanks for the great video. Getting my RC390 next week (i also ride a Tuono Factory and a panigale 899 for the track) moving to south florida in 3 months. So my check out homestead (perhaps Jennings if i can find a group to go with)
I love my V4S and my 2017 RC390. You are going to love yours too. Pipes, computer, airbox, suspension and probably brakes should be on your mod list. I know you follow Canyon Chaser so look at what he did to his RC with body work. Did I mention my 2005 Vespa grocery hauler? Just finished a ride on California Highway 1 from SF to Ferndale where they shot the movie Contagion. All twisties along the coast. Come out and I'll loan you my V4 so you can ride them too. 600 miles round trip.
Yeah I had to wait 3 months did the same, put in a payment to get one and just got mine yesterday. Head to drive all the way to San Diego from Long Beach.
Shiit man I'm right there with you. I'm fittin to get one to commute to work 160 mi./week. Should save me the payment each month on gas over my truck and Camaro SS, so it's basically a free bike man. Anyway I've decided to go lower displacement for gas savings even though my last motorcycle was a FZ1. I've always enjoyed small displacement, light weight bikes though for thrashing. Need to break it in fast and hit the tail of the dragon this summer and maybe even get to your track as I'm right down the road from that place too. I'm close to Macon. I actually considered the Duke 200&390, but I freaking love the look of the RC, and I've never owned a straight up racing type motorcycle, always nakeds.
Superb choice Rembo. When it comes to smaller KTMs, no one knows these better than us Indians 😇. The multi V2 is still on my cards but I have rented out a KTM 390 ADV to take some off-road lessons before jumping to bigger bikes. As I type this comment I can see the Bajaj Auto gates right from my window here in Pune. Bajaj now controls a 49% stake in PTW which translates to roughly 60% stake in PMAG: The parent company of KTM, Husquarna, Gas Gas and Ramon. The same company was in the race of acquiring Ducati in 2017, which didn't happen fortunately 🙃. The older RCs were far too agressive and had received mixed responses from mature bikers. It's mostly popular here among teenagers. Thanks to the competition from TVS-BMW, KTM has chosen a less agressive posture now. Making this a go to choice for bikers who need a light, fun machine for city commutes but also agressive enough for the tracks. By the way do check out the TVS RR310 aka BMW310RR. It's a beautiful machine minus the tech on KTMs.
Great little bike. Will you be riding the KTM to the track? You will have to tape up lights & be limited with the side stand still attached. Cheap enough to be dedicated as a track only bike.
A fun choice you are making. Life is all about experiences. Thumbs up. I disagree with your comment about used bikes being problems. Nothing a thorough examination, test ride and title verification can't sort. Certainly, less risk than with a new bike but you pay dearly for that security. I love the thrill of a used bike search. Half the time, I end up buying something completely different than I began the search for.
I was looking to order a KTM RC390 also for track use (I also have a Ducati, a 2022 Supersport 950S), but I decided to put a deposit on a 2023 Kawasaki ZX4RR instead.
I've had more fun (PBIR) on my 19 KTM 390 Duke then my Ducati Monster 1100s on track. Seriously thinking of adding the new RC 390 to my garage, Jennings GP is perfect for small bikes!
I guess I am the lucky one here. I was able to walk in to a dealership and grab the RC390 off the showroom floor! Now to get through the 621 mile break-in period… 🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡
I saw that, my local dealer has 2. I am seriously tempted but need to unload a 2018 rc390 first. Thought they discounted it but nice to know its a factory rebate. What a freaking steal for a bike.
Have you considered a smaller bike for the track?
small bikes are the best, even for veteran like me.
Local guy just picked up a $40K KTM ( only 200 made ) he also rides a RC390.

Congrats, you're gonna love it! The 390 platform is a blast in all its iteration and I'm still hoping they will come with a 390 Enduro next year :D
I hope to get mine soon and that’s the track I’d begin going to.
Niiiiiice intro!!!
Having the KTM should be fun! Looking forward to your opinion about it
LOL! I have 2016 Multistrada Pikes Peak and just got my 2022 RC390. Can't wait to get it on the track!
We are twins!

Great info
Wish they would import the RC 200 it would be a better comparison then the Ohvale on kart tracks.
Great point

It will be trailered to the track

Well said and great point about used bikes. Thank you for taking the time to watch and post.
Congrats

any updates on the bike?
No updates whatsoever. I still have not a clue when this will be in and neither does the dealer.
