That was a great video! It's good that everything went well! It must have been chilly? I am also a sailor, i have a Mirage 27. I sailed from Whitby, Ontario to Fogo Island, Newfoundland. It was a great experience and adventure! Take care from the east coast of Canada 🇨🇦.
Fantastic film Lydia! I really liked that you get a proper feel for what it's like sailing a small boat an a pretty big journey! You all look like you have have great skills and knowledge and handled it very well!
Great blog Lydia. I was pushed into sailing at the age of 4. And sailed 3 sizes of boats. Had many adventures and sea and wheather conditions . Many English Channel crossings and 3 round the Island races. Stopped sailing at 28.
Thank you for a lovely video, conveying a competant and peaceful passage! Crucially you had a good weather window and steady waves. I only did some pottering around the Fastnet Rock this year. Seeing James adjusting to being offshore crew, reminds me of Irish sea races & passages, when I was a little older. Such valuable experiences, great memories and in some ways are more important than a degree. I like how you told James that in the future he could watch his younger self. Have you sailed dinghies too?
I love sailing but get sea sick so easily and the biggest problem was to go under deck for the toilet. That was it, most times. So unfortunately I can only dream of trips like that.... and admire your trip.
Those tiller-pilots are susceptible to water ingress. There are some covers available for them to keep them working a bit longer. Good trip. well done all!
@lydiapaleschi Good onya Lydia - if you haven't been there yet, the shelter is not great, so best to go in reasonable weather. I'm leading a flotilla of 25 boats from Connemara (Gaelic speaking area in the West of Ireland) to visit our Celtic cousins, in Corn na Breathainne (Gaelic for Cornwall). Planning a party in Falmouth on the 4th July!
You got into sailing ⛵️ in your mid twenties? How old are you now? Because you look like you are in your early twenties! Are you back in the UK 🇬🇧 now? It’s so weird how your channel came across my feed 😂 I literally subscribe to nothing relating travel/ sailing/ adventure. I’m pleasantly surprised though! Wishing you all the best!
Thanks for your comment, Andy. Glad you enjoyed the adventure! ❤

It wasn’t too cold actually, just a little damp at times. That sounds like a fun adventure :)

nicely done! there's nothing better than an offshore adventure...especially when there's not too much drama!

Thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've never been a dinghy sailor, but thats where all of the best sailors I know started!
