You've heard of a Turbo Coupe and Cabriolet… but a Targa? Unbelievably, Porsche DID make a Turbo Targa during the heady days of the 1980s - and in this video, I get to drive one! The video covers Porsche 930 Turbo Targa production numbers (both UK and total worldwide), specs, plus a review on what it's like to drive.
Thanks to Henry at Lakeside Classics for allowing me to sample the delights of the very rare 930 Turbo Targa!

When i was child i had an remote controlled car😊 exactly turbo targa
Another great video, Lee. I had no idea Porsche ever made a 930 Targa, and I like to think I'm well versed in things Porsche. This video is the kind of thing, along with your interviews, that you do incredibly well. I really can't understand why your numbers don't do you justice, though I think I have a suggestion that will help. Reach out to me if you're interested in hearing my thoughts. Really enjoy your content!
Thank you indeed for the kind words. I'm always happy to learn new things, please do drop me a line hello@9werks.co.uk.
The 930 turbo targa is fire!!! I miss the sport seats from it so i would change them.
Symphonic sounds.... Targa experience got it like that ❤
No introduction needed, 930 is an exceptional turbo pre bastardisation of turbocharged engines, today every car is turbocharged with no soul! Thanks for sharing
My pleasure. For me, 930 is peak Porsche 911 Turbo. Such character to the cars.
Thank you again for helping to fill the gaps in my knowledge of this most iconic vehicle. I agree fully that impracticalities in use and foibles in performance performance add to, rather than detract from the ownership experience once a vehicle graduates to the 'fun' or 'toy' status. It will continue to reward in this role as long as it is #drivennothidden
It's fascinating to ponder time's impact on flaws becoming character.
Great video great view. Nice car.
Brilliant! Love my 964 Targa ! Would love one of these to the collection.
Super, you don't see many 964 Targas! Enjoy the drive.
Never realised just how rare.
You’re right. I had never heard of it
If you want a 930 to own and drive, imo the ones to have are the model years 78/79. 9:30
Friend's dad had one of these. I believe when he traded it for a new 996 Turbo in 2000 they gave him 18k for it.
I’m curious to know why they produced less targa’s in the 1989 model year especially when it had the 5 speed gear box🤔
Please either use the designation 911 turbo, or 930.
Nice video .
Excuse me what are the best tires forthose older turbos with 245/45/16 at the back?
Could you make a video about 930 Turbo S (French market 930SE variation), like Harry Metcalfe's one?
Sure!
In 1976 at the Porsche Parade the owners got called turbo turkeys because they wrecked them at the autocross
9:30 video on a Porsche 930. ❤
BOOM! Good spot, sir.
I must be special since I'd heard of it. 😉
A friend had one of these new in 1988
Whoa!
Most people that own 930's own them as a status symbol and aren't capable of driving them
maybe but let’s focus on the beauty of the car. The human inside is a whole lot more unfathomable
Strange remark. I suspect more 930 owners are more capable drivers than the Ferrari owners for instance. Anyone who freely chooses to drive an antiquated air cooled turbo have some mental challenges and sado-masochistic tendencies that tells me they’re committed to the cause and probably are true petrol heads and most likely very capable drivers.
