I tried to sing with them but could not, was crying all the time, it is so spiritual and touching. And it was a pleasure to look at those clean, beautiful faces. Thank you so much!!
This hymn is by Charles Wesley who wrote 8000 hymns for us old Methodists. :) This is the first time I've heard this tune to that old hymn, and the choir did a splendid performance! Thanks and God Bless from Wisc †
I think that beautiful young lady with the plaited crown of hair loves this song almost as much as i do! I play it over and over, can't keep from crying. ❤
This was my late father S David Prasanna Rao & Grand father S John Devadanam 's favorite hymn. We sing it in a different tune. Makes me cry yet affirms my faith in Jesus Christ
Lyrics 1 Jesus, lover of my soul, let me to thy bosom fly, while the nearer waters roll, while the tempest still is high; hide me, O my Savior, hide, till the storm of life is past; safe into the haven guide, O receive my soul at last! 2 Other refuge have I none; hangs my helpless soul on thee; leave, oh, leave me not alone, still support and comfort me. All my trust on thee is stayed, all my help from thee I bring; cover my defenseless head with the shadow of thy wing. 3 Jesus, lover of my soul, hangs my weary soul on thee.
Jesus, lover of my soul, Let me to thy bosom fly, While the nearer waters roll, While the tempest still is high. Hide me, O my Savior, hide, Till the storm of life is past. Safe into the haven guide; Oh, receive my soul at last. Other refuge have I none; Hangs my helpless soul on thee. Leave, oh, leave me not alone; Still support and comfort me. All my trust on thee is stayed; All my help from thee I bring. Cover my defenseless head With the shadow of thy wing.
This is the most beautifully done choir performance I have ever heard, and the loveliest group of young adults I have ever seen. Many thanks for this exquisite, Spirit-filled performance. Marla Huston
I SO wish they'do this, at least once for Conference, with the original tune Aberystwyth!!!. It makes me sad that while they've sometimes done Welsh hymns mostly we've changed around the tunes. Not long ago they did another beautiful Welsh hymn..... Love Divine All Loves Excelling but subbed Blaenwern-a beautiful tune-with Hyfrydol, the one we use for In Humility. Frustrating!!! Isn’t it enough that the words are translated!?

In a diary, Ellen White wrote this was her favorite hymn. It meant a lot to her.
Yes, that Ellen White. 🙂
Thanks, I read that so long ago and needed to confirm the recollection.
