Yes, this is because the KC390 is a modern project while the C130 is very old. But, these yakees are bad losers, they have sabotaged our projects in the past and continue to sabotage them, a great example of this sabotage was the Osório that destroyed the Abrams in a competition in Saudi Arabia. recently, the Yankees(Boing) wanted to buy Embraer, because they don't want competition. Otherwise they would have destroyed the Brazilian company.
The KC-390 is new and is superior in many ways compare to the A130 which is introduced decades ago and is quickly getting outdated in terms of performance and capacity.
Netherlands ordered 5 kc390's last week instead of the Herc. Plan was to replace Herc by Hercs. But gov decided different second Nato member ( after Portugal)using this Millenium.
Embraer has manufactured more than 8,000 aircraft since its founding. It is the world leader in the category up to 110 seats. It manufactures the Phaenon, Legacy jets, the E-190 family, the A-29 (military turboprop) and other beautiful and efficient planes. The K(King)C-390 is anything but a surprise when it comes to efficiency and performance. So much so that Boeing wanted to buy Embraer before the pandemic.
Duh, the C-130 first introduced in 1956 or 1957. There is a reason why so many are still being sold. It Not because of nostalgia. I’m sure the KC 390 is an extremely good aircraft. Brazil has had a very good aircraft industry for a long time.

according to the Dutch you need 5 Hercules to have the same flight hours disponibility of 4 kc-390 as It takes less and lesser expensive maintenance. So do the math.
Embraer KC 390 is much better. Pressurization, comfort, less external noise, requires fewer operators, greater load capacity, greater speed, lower consumption, able to deliver any type of pallet, "sanitary", multifunctionality, lower price, lower operating cost and above all, it's new!
They both have advantages, thr bigger one is not realized is the Lockheed C130 series of aircraft even the J have a massive common part compatability. The huge amount of C130s in operation and numbers built over the last 60 years means it's cheaper and a well proven aircraft.
@@Relics_tv No... it only means US has a very strong geopolitical power. The advantages of turboprop over turbofan engines, are the lower operation costs and resilience... but in this case the 390 actually has a lower acquisition/operational cost, needs less maintenances, while still boasting higher altitudes and flight speed as well as a hevier payload... Turbofans used to be very thirsty but they've became much more efficient nowdays.
@@GabrielVitor-kq6uj you're not wrong about that. The mission roles though are different which this video doesn't talk about. The C130J and the J-30 veriants are 'tactical' airlifters. Go into war zones and maneuver to deliver a payload. High altitude or lower. The KC-390 is more of a general airlifter like the C17 just smaller
@@Relics_tv KC-390 is literally described as a medium-weight multi-role tactical transporter, not just and general airlifter... never seem any specialist telling otherwise, the capabillities the Super Hercules has, the Millenium also haves, except the fact that the Hercules can launch some precision ammunition, which I don't clearly understand the relevancy as the transporter will be always scolted in battlegrounds. But yes, it does have a handful of combat features the 390 lacks.
The cost of flight hour and maintenance puts the KC-390 ahead of many competitors. Jet engines are the most reliable with more than 6,000 units already built with the lowest accident rates. that means reliability, availability and low operational cost.
Replacing the 500 C130 in operations with the KC390 will save $12,500 million dollars compared to new versions of C130 and the KC390 is way better plane than the C130. Will be interesting to see the maintenance cost of each plane. Of course that will never happen because a lot of people in the Pentagon and Lockheed Martin will loose their commission and Embraer do not have lobbyist in the Pentagon.
I agree with you. Replacing the 500 C130 in operations with the KC390 will save $12,500 million dollars compared to new versions of C130 and the KC390 is way better plane than the C130.
The maintenance of the C 390 is lower. In addition to being 2 against 4 engines, they are standard civil use engines. I think they are the ones used on the Airbus A 320.
However the Herc is cheaper to operate. It burns a lot less fuel per mile flown compared to the the KC390. The engines are also cheaper to maintain. Turboprops will always be cheaper to operate and maintain compared to a turbofan engine. These costs will offset the higher price tag of the Herc. But in military terms I would also pick the KC390, not for its price tag but for its superior capabilities.
@@Robert66734 Well... turboprops are cheaper to operate than jets, but you need to consider the cost of things you can't do, or spend more time to do, between both aircrafts. Look to civil airports. What do you see? More jets or turboprops? Jets had more economical viability than TP. Had more cost? Yes! But can do much more and that make jets the logical choice.
And exactly how much battle field experience does this aircraft have? This is where the winners and losers are determined, not on the spec sheets. I have flown Embraer products, in commercial operations, paved runway to paved runway, their is always some kind of digital glitch with these modern wonders. I understand that the subject of comparison on the video is the C-130J, but the original project is dated 1954 (first flight). As a brazillian, I really wish that on 2083 (68 years from now) the KC390 could be compared to an aircraft recently projected around that year. The C-130 did way more works than the mitology Hercules. From landing and taking off from an aircraft carrier (USS Forrestal "Look Ma... No Hook"), using rockets to shorten landing and take-off (Operation Credible Sport) to even fire howitzers from the sky (AC-130 "Spectre" and variations)... The Lockheed C-130 had an incredible curriculum vitae. Plus, the PT-6 engine is a really, really popular engine, that also have an incredible curriculum, with the first run dated as far as 1960. I really hope that the IAE V2500 have a long life and easy maintenance at around 2083. What I'm saying is that the KC-390 is an astounding aircraft, really suited to our era, but it isn't fair to compare it with the C-130 (I'm not really sure that is OK to say it's in its final years. We'll talk again in 20 years or so). What I CAN say is... Welcome KC-390, and work together with your "older brother". Learn "his" lessons and grow strong. Together... as allies.
of course, new technologies always replace old ones !

@@Edsoncamargos sometimes not. Sometimes new technologies brings... new problems that need long time to be solved (and new costs). But I agree that there's always place to improve. As an example, the need to replace the A-10 on Afghanistan. The solution was to use the A-29 that is a relative "old" technology (propeller aircraft used for ground attack missions). I'm not saying about the sensors and displays, but the platform itself.
I think that you are mistaken. I believe that it is a fair comparison since the C-130 is the plane that the KC390 was designed to replace. The Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules and the Airbus A400M Atlas are today's direct competitors to the Embraer C390 Millennium. In fact, there are several countries that are making this exact comparison. India is, at this very moment, evaluating the C390 in comparison with the C-130J and the A400M. The C390 has recently won the competition with these two planes in Saudi Arabia and South Korea. The C-130J is a very recent plane that was completely modernized to compete in today's market. It now has sophisticated avionics and they even replaced the aging 1970's Allison T56-A-15 turboprop engine with a more modern engine. It now has the very capable Rolls-Royce AE2100D3 turboprop engine. It continues to this day to be manufactured by the largest military contractor in the world. If nothing else, the political cloud that Lockheed Martin has is not to be underestimated. It won't matter, though! The Embraer C390 Millennium is such a good plane that no one can beat it. Only political dealings under-the-table can stop the C390 from being selected as the de-facto successor to the legendary C-130.

I think kc390 is latest and better one since the other one is a turboprop
They both have there advantages
O kc390 usa motores dos Airbus a320,com certeza o custo manutenção dele é bem baixo
Uncomparable. The KC is clearly a superior choice.
And exactly how much battle field experience does this aircraft have? This is where the winners and losers are determined, not on the spec sheets. I have flown Embraer products, in commercial operations, paved runway to paved runway, their is always some kind of digital glitch with these modern wonders. I can only imagine the problems this aircraft is going to experience operating in and out of unimproved air strips in the sand and dust, day in and day out. Once they do this, and prove they are worthy of a superior title, I’m all on board.

The C-130 never had a PT-6 engine. That engine is used on much smaller aircraft.
@@Edsoncamargos You are so right, so correct, so absolutely the smartest person in the world, except for a couple of fatal flaws, soon to be three fatal flaws. The B-52 bomber, the F-15 fighter jet and the C-130 cargo transport. What you see is that soon the B-52 will be 100 years old. It will have a pilot who's father flew this bomber and even a grandfather who flew this beast. Sometimes the new doesn't replace the old. Many newer aircraft have already been retired, but the old keep on keeping on. On the positive side, a lot of new technology has been employed in these 'old' aircraft.
