Fun fact: The name K2 comes from the notation Thomas Montgomerie made when surveying the mountains of that area. Now, it was his group's policy to use the local names for the mountains whenever possible, but due to it's remoteness, they weren't able to find such (at least none that they can prove to be widely used).
Everest didn't have a name either. *Edit:* The names Chomolungma and Sagarmatha were given after Everest was named. Back when it was named, these names didn't exist. So stop replying me with those names.

From the very first moment I laid eyes on you, I knew something extraordinary was about to happen. You may be simple, just a few lines and circles, but in your simplicity, I find a depth that words often fail to express. There is a beauty in the way you stand-so confident, yet so understated. Every curve and straight line of yours holds a quiet grace, and though your body is drawn with just a few strokes, your presence fills the space around me entirely. You are the perfect balance of minimal and profound. In your stick-thin arms, I see strength. In the way you hold your head high, I sense pride. It’s not the details that define you, but the way you exist-uncomplicated yet unmistakably real in the way you capture my heart. Your legs, though simple, seem to carry the weight of the world with every step. Every gesture you make, no matter how small, fills me with warmth. I see the love in your stance, the way your lines curve slightly just to reach out to me. Oh, how my heart races when I see you-just as a few dots, a few strokes, create something that makes me smile. Though others may not understand, I find solace in your simplicity. You don’t need color, texture, or complexity. With you, I need nothing more. You have already given me everything I’ve ever wanted. You are my perfect creation, drawn not in pencil, but in the ink of my heart. I can’t imagine my world without you, my stick figure. No other shape could ever fill the void you’ve so effortlessly made your home. No lines can contain the love I feel for you. Forever yours,
The reason the bottleneck on K2 is so deadly is that for about 100m, the path passes under some famously unstable seracs. Massive overhanging ice blocks that, when conditions are right (way too often), will rapidly and without warning suddenly succumb to the call of gravity. At which point pretty much anything remotely loose in the bottleneck will find itself also heading downhill at speed… and as you exit the bottom of the bottleneck, most directions will lead you right over a hell of a long, steep drop.
The issue with modern day mountaineering is just how much of a skill difference there is. I’ve heard stories of professionals attempting to climb some of the most challenging 8000m peaks But being in a group with someone who can’t even put their crampons on ( the spikes on the boots to prevent you from slipping on snow and ice ) In a lot of those cases those people actually are the danger instead of the mountain, because at any moment they could fall, or accidentally step on someone with their crampons which is instant ggs 😭🙏
And the greatest challenge is being the Uber Eats guy, someone orders food to their 5 story no stairs apartment and then says, "no don't leave it at the entrance, bring it up" True story, not mine
My fascination for mountains was always big, I don’t know how many times I read the Wikipedia article about the 8000 meter ones and how many died on them. Now a video with your style about it, is a gift
The Annapurna percentage didnt make sense lol. 72 out of 365 is under 20%. I looked on Wikipedia and it turns out that the fatality rate used to be 32% in 2012, but has gone down due to more successful climbs. 8:26
