Very good video gives good description and how to come about on things for beginners 👍
Thanks for the comment!
Great to hear. No rattling or sealing issues.
All is well. Granted it's tough to hear with a 7.7 liter engine running. Lol
Lots of good "best practices" techniques!
Thanks Jeffrey!
I LIVE THE WAY YOU DID THE PAPER TRICK. I AM SUCH A DORK I NEVER THOUGHT IF THAT . THANK YOU BECAUSE KNOWLEDGE IS BEST WHEN IT IS WORTH KNOWING! Awesome work, great channel!
Thanks, and Thanks!
Yeah I got some of the cheap-o-eBay cutouts… leaked and rattled…simple fix cured the leak and rattle…grease the perimeter of the butterfly flap get some permatex high temp sealant #81878 put the sealant on the seat where flap meets seat. Shut the valve and leave for 24 hours. The grease will keep the flap from sticking to the sealant…worked for me.
Ha! Clearly more than one way to skin a cat. Great job creating a fix to the Cheap o cutouts.
I have just fitted a pair of valves to the back of my Jag S Type R and what a difference! Proper V8 sound at the push of a button but still able to have a typical 'Jag' drive if i want
Ohhh, that's awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Loved your reaction when you opened that switch😮😂😂
Ha! I'm sure my neighbors loved it too! Thanks!
Beautiful welding. Great Explaining on the install procedure. Great video. Thank you.
Awesome! Thanks for the comment!
We have tested cut outs on a 632 big block chevy, dual 4inch diameter exhaust, the car was our mustang dyno.
This engine with 4 inch diameter exhaust yield us on the tires 844 hp and 795 tq. Car has Dyno max race bullet's.
Same car with 3.5 cutouts took us to 781 hp and 722 tq. It definitely showed us the restriction at the y connection.
Straight tubes 4 inch diameter 24 inches long connected to the collectors yielded 912 hp and 883 tq.
Proof is on the dyno
Dannnnggg, that's some good data! Awesome!
Great job. Great installation.
FANTASTIC sound!!!
Thanks! And, AGREED! I love flippin that switch!
Hi I just found your channel. I was telling my son we are going to put this on our 1966 C10. Now he is excited too. My dad made 1 in the 90s on another truck he owned I use to race his here in Dallas in my teens. Building this truck with this on it will be fun. Can't wait
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing your story, and keep us posted on the build! Thanks for the comment!
You’re not expecting performance enhancement. Lol. You are going to get more horsepower out of your engine when you open them things up for sure. Good video man 👍🏼
You're pickin up what I'm puttn down. lol. Thanks for the comment!
Your videos are so good and informative. Big thumbs up!
Thanks Brother Burch!
Not sure if you’ll see this but awesome vid man. You have no clue!
Thanks! I think... I have no clue about what?
I've been wanting to put one of these on my old mercades because I love how quiet they made the V8 sound at times but I also want to hear that engine!
Sounds good to me! Have fun!
I have a 95 camaro with hooker headers and a baby cam and still have catalystic and original muffler just so I can quiet it down a bit so I’m not a cop magnet 🔥🔥👍
Nice, and now you can piss em off at the flip of a switch. ha, ha... have fun!
Sweet install!
Id love to do a cutout setup but make it switch between two exhaust setups. One louder performance muffler and another more quiet toned down muffler & resonator
Welp, I guess if you had the room for four mufflers that would work, ha, ha... thanks for the comment!
Hey Monty, there is a tool we use at work for finding a center point to add outlets for plumbing. It's called a curve o mark. You can get them at most welding shops. Great video. 👍
Ha! Of course there's an app for that. Awesome tip, I'll search for one the next time I'm doing exhaust work. Thanks!
Can’t wait to install mine! As always thanks for the great info
Welcome! You're gonna love it!
… Made just for places that will send 3 units after you if your muffler fell off, but arrive 3 hours late after you’re being murdered. Great setup man but just kinda sad how the law targets car people way more than actual criminals 😂

Great work! I’m curious on the longevity of the cutouts with the high temperatures. I’ve been hesitant to do this to my Firebird because of that. Looking forward to a follow up after you get some drive time in with them!
Thanks Joe! I totally understand the concern... electronics and heat, DO NOT MIX. Ha, ha... I'm confident they'll be fine, as they're right in front of the exhaust cans, and really only used when driving into and out of shows, etc... wayyyy too loud at WOT. As for mileage... it's gonna be a while, as you probably know, my engine is getting rebuilt. (I'm filming that process, which just started) See ya!
Hi Mike. Any update on the cut outs? I melted a pair from a different manufacturer a few years ago. Just wondering if yours are still hanging in there. Thanks! Ed
Any updates on this? Have they failed yet?
I’ve had a hooker cutout exactly like this on my truck for about two and a half years. I just had to order my fourth replacement motor. Found them for $35 on eBay so I ordered two because that’s the cheapest I’ve ever seen them. The gears inside the motor strip out. Not sure why. The valve is always pretty free moving. I’ve even clicked it where the motor is below the exhaust and gets hit by moving air driving down the road. I get 6-9 months before I need to replace the motor.
Hello I am interested in purchasing these for my vehicle have you had any trouble since installed like leaks Or motor failure?
Zero issues. Have fun!
Great work monty 😉👌🏴🇬🇧
Thanks Phill!
Sounds good nothing sounds better than a Pontiac. Good video.
Thanks John!
Looks great, sounds great - what more is there? Job very well done sir! 👏
Ha! Thanks Scott!
I'm about to install these on my Mustang. Hopefully you see this. I noticed you installed these at the back after the X pipe, I was going to install mine at the front before my H pipe, you think it makes a difference? Also the lighter portion I was going to hardwire as well but there is a resistor inside as well as a fuse. Did you do anything special for that? Thanks
If you have fuel injection you have to be careful how close you mount them to the O2 sensors, as that might affect what they're reading. Other than that, I would keep the resistor when hard wiring... it's still 12V. Have fun!
@@FastMonty it's a '65 289 hipo NA
So, still carbureted? youll be fine. If you ever end up upgrading to Fuel Injection, be aware too much oxygen could be sucked back through the cutouts when open. @@roberttaskerjr

The wiring part of that kit ,couldn't be any cheesier. where did you hide the extra 6ft. of wire/
Seriously? I thought I explained I cut it off with custom termination. Please review the video in its entirety
Hi, could you give a honest review 2 years later If you still are running them.
Still working great! I cycle them every time I go on a run.

Thanks! Yeah, they're fun to open up at car meets... have fun!
Sounds awesome
Thanks!
Would it still work just wired to the battery? I don’t know if the amps are too high or what not
With an on/off switch, yes. They only draw the amount of amps they need... unless there's a short, which is why fuses were invented. :) Have fun!
Nice job 👍
Thanks John!
Next week I will be putting some on my 93 f150. 302. It's just a grocery getter. With 100 shot of nitrous
@@johnc7431 Sounds good to me!
im still a bit confused on the wiring. I don't like the cig lighter plug either and I don't have one so if i were to cut the cables and connect them to something, where would they go? otherwise great video helped alot! u gained a sub!!
Welcome to the FMG family... so, after you cut the adapter off, the Red needs a 12V source. Black goes to ground. Finding the 12V source can be frustrating... you have to splice off of another 12V accessory, like your radio, etc... or wire from your fuse box. Hope that helps!
@@FastMonty so could I tap into the fuse box?
@@joewalton3624 Yeah, look into a Fuse Tap, typically allows you to add an extra fused source. Have fun!
I've got the same Swag band saw setup and I agree, it's awesome.
Totally awesome. Thanks!
Very nice professional looking Job. Sound good too!
Thanks Brother! Yeah, I love to fabricate... and yes, it sounds awesome! See ya soon...
Hello, I just ordered an Electronic Exhaust Cutout Dual System and a Roush Resonator Delete-H Pipe for my 2020 Mustang GT w/o active exhaust. my question is where would be the best place to install my Electronic Exhaust Cutout Dual System. I'm going to take it to a shop but they might install it where ever and I want to know if there is a pacific spot/best spot to have my cutouts installed what do you think. I apricate your time.
Congrats on you path to making it loud. Depending on the size of the cutouts, you might not have a choice of where it goes. But, no, if you're removing the resonators, they'd need to be mounted anywhere before the mufflers. Good luck!
@@FastMonty Hello I really appreciate the comment. did you change your car's CPU to adjust to the cut outs you install like the gas-to-air ratio? what do you think?
@@chasemcdudeLOL No. But, you bring up a good point... if your cut outs are too close to your O2 sensors, it'll create some havoc.
totally cool!!!
Thanks Randall!
Measure 0 times cut a bazillion times and fill in the space with a flux core 125
Yup! That works too! ha, ha...
@ honestly tho that paper and tape trick is awesome, definitely using that🤘

Do all electric exhaust leak eventually?
I have no idea.. mine is still running great. Thanks.

@@cjosama1428 Welcome. Have Fun!
Hey mate I’m looking for some alternative ways to wire it?
Cheers
Sounds like fun... let us know what you end up doing.
Did you delete the black box that comes with Hooker switch ?
Nope. You need to keep that. Thanks!
Would this cut out still work with stock catalytic converters? Sound wise
Yes. If you have the room, cut outs basically remove the mufflers, the cats will still do their job, assuming you put the cut outs after the cats. Have fun!
Hey Monty, Great video! At the end you are standing at the nose of your car. Who makes the tow hook I see peeking out from under the bumper? Thanks!
Thanks Patrick... good catch. I did a video on that; ruclips.net/video/1jvVp9_O92k/видео.htmlsi=XlOzj21n_-cOHNqx Let me know your thoughts.
1. stop using grommets... use pass thru cable plugs.
2. redic to use the plug connections if you understand wiring at all!!! Snip the plugs, run wire through pass through, run wire thru fuel hose on the underside to protect, solder connection, shrink wrap, and done.
Hey Brother, no need to yell. ha, ha... It dawned on me shortly after shooting this video I could've done done the pass through trick. Anyway, thanks for the comment!
nice!
Thanks!
You do spot on work. Sounds great!
Thanks Tim! Much Appreciated.
how do we route the cables to the drivers side?
Same procedure... just make sure you're not accidentally cutting other wires and/or touching other hot surfaces. Have fun!
Damn that Goat is clean first off, you’re video was incredible in detail. You must be an engineer you’re work looks surgical.Even though I will not undertake this job for lack of talent and tools. With that said my current project is a OBS SS 454 build. My original plan was to run spin techs dumped just be fore the axel.Constant loud ,now updated plans is run exhaust to rear and in stall these .Thanks you sold me.Hooker should Hook you up ,pun intended.
Ha! Thanks Brother. I like your new plan, I tried driving down the street wide open... waaay too freakin loud. You'll love em. I hope Hooker hooks me up too. Ha ha. Thanks for the comment.
My dude! Great great video. I have put electric dumps on before but old school ones. Been shopping around. I have Hooker headers already on my 95 F250 7.5l and wanted to go with these or there is company called dig power where you can use via BT through phone. But then was gunna put then before the H-Or X-Pipe not sure yet. And then hook up Boom Tube nascar style exhaust. Should rip and be obnoxious as hell.
But for real man, thanks for video and great job. Sounds amazing. Gives great sound of that Cam. After this I just had ti subscribe to your channel.
Thanks Brother! I'm sure whatever you pick will sound wicked. Welcome to the FMG Family!
Hey Guy ! Stumbled upon your site and I like what you're doing. I know I can learn something from you and viewing your cutout installation I have. I want to install one of these in my 1986 El Camino. My question is the cutout motors and how to protect it from the elements for longevity. What about a metal shield that covers it ?
Hey Dennis, not sure... all I can tell you is, make sure you buy them from a big Brand, like Hooker. They'll stand behind their products. DO NOT buy something from ebay or Amazon. So far mind are working great, but I only have about 3000 miles on them. :) The motors have a rubber boot over them, to protect from debris... pretty sure they're water proof. But, I've only driven in the rain once, by accident. LOL. Have fun!
That was awesome Mike, I have to get some!
Thanks Bill... yes, you do! Ha, ha....
100!!
forgot that we might have to have 2 cutoffs for a v8.
on the DP, is there not enough space on the x connection to run only one?
Thanks... and good question. I don't think so, but might depend on the vehicle. If there were space, I would only use it for sound increase. Versus guys who want zero restriction for exhaust, it wouldn't flow enough volume to make a difference. Thanks for the comment!
@@FastMonty that sound though!

@@diegofiguerooa Ohhh, that's brutal. Good luck with the removal!
So my Y pipe is kinda loud but I want it to be very loud but I want to be able to stop the loud when I want too what should I do
Welp, you need to install a valve, like I installed... there are several different styles on the market, where you might need to get creative. Good luck!
So after a year and change in, any issues with the cutouts failing?
Zero issues to report! Love em!
There any way I could install these with just band clamps and no welding? Can't find any others that conveniently just plug into the cigarette lighter and have a remote.
Great question. Band clamps are typically for slip fit pipes, ie one inside the other. Since this would be a butt joint, I'm not so sure the band clamp could withstand the side loading created, and will probably start to sag at those points. Let us know if you find any other solutions! Thanks for the comment.
Nice installation.
Thanks John!
Great video man!!
Thanks Sean!
My jeep has a flowmaster with a side dump and i wanted to run a cutout with a pipe to dump on the opposite side for straight pipes…. But my muffler fell off and i welded it in so i think its gonna stay the way it is lol
Ha! I love it! Sometimes, you gotta do whatcha gotta do. Thanks for the comment!
Are you back purging your stainless welds?
Nope, that's probably why they look terrible. I'll look into purging next time. Thanks for the comment!
@@FastMonty I’m no expert but I think the inside of the tube will crystallize and the weld will be very weak if you don’t back purge the inside of the tube.
@@colinrosenthal4296 I'm not an expert either, but I do know it helps with a cleaner/smoother weld. I just didn't have the equipment to back purge. Thanks!

Hi mike really enjoyed the video I was thinking about the 1970 Gto rare VOE exhaust system it was activated via a pull knob like the ram air hood scoop it would also be a cool location for the toggle switch to activate a system like yours. Your goats sounds awesome
Interesting factoid, James. I had no idea... thanks for sharing.
When valves are closed do you hear any leaking? I don't want my car to sound like it has an exhaust leak when I'm trying to be stealth mode. Haha
Good question.. I don't hear any leaking, BUT, my engine is not quiet. Ha, ha... have fun!
Cutouts are one of my favorite mods I've done to my car. But you know... I didn't do them to cover up the fuel pump noise......lol
Bahahahhaaa too funny. But, it does help. Ha, ha...
What gets me... such a nice car and then those cheap crimp terminals. At least solder and shrinktube them.
Agreed. I now use solder splices. Thanks!
any chance you can go into a little more detail about the wiring, im good at fabrication but when it comes to wirings its always a mess for me. i also dislike the cigarette lighter adapters, did you hook yours up directly to the battery?
Good question... it's actually really simple with the "Manual Kit", in the description. You can cut off the cigarette lighter, mount the black wire to a good ground on the body, like I did. Then wire the power to a keyed 12V source. You'd have to get a voltmeter or tester to find a wire that has 12V, after you key on to accessories. Hope that helps!
@@FastMonty thanks that does indeed help a lot.
14:52 need this for later
Yeah, the key fob is terrible. Have fun!
I got a cuestión. I buy a car out but the module no works can I use different module ??
Good question. I have no idea... you need to ask the manufacturer. Or, convert it to manual operation, like I did in the video. Good luck!
Magnetic angle finder.. easy peasey
Agreed! I bought one after I did this video. I do love it. Thanks!
Great job man.
I wanted to ask does it do any damage to the car in the long run?
Good question... Nope. It just gives you the option to run without Mufflers. Which is insanely loud. So, I usually open them up when entering/leaving car shows. :)
@@FastMonty Man thanks for the reply, I did it on my Nissan Maxima, the sound is awesome but too loud and the vibration during drive is annoying so I was thinking to move the cut out from the middle of the exhaust to the back of it. On my Maxima I have 1 exhaust that divides into 2 mufflers. So my question is (sorry if it's a stupid one) is it a good idea to install the Cut Out just on 1 of the mufflers?
@@SlavikMilerFitness Great question... I have no idea. I don't think it would, but again, it's a car I'm not familiar with. Give it a shot and find out! Ha. ha... thanks!

The problem woth that is that it’s not easy to install on a new car since you gotta get some electricity in there and that’s the problem, i’m no electrician
