- Whitney Cummings get’s a lot of hate online. In this video I wanted to explore why that is. Could it be that people just hate her stand up or is there something else to it?

The problem is she wants to be seen as an intellectual and a funny person. When she is neither of these things.
“No one cares about your friends Sandra Bullock” is a genuinely funny line
“No one cares about your friends like Sandra Bullock.”* lmao
Her saying that she's "old Hollywood" is the funniest thing she's ever said. Completely delusional
They’re more so talking about being famous through ways of television/movies through a network like NBC vs. new Hollywood that would be famous through the internet or a streaming service or something
She forms her own narratives of where the hate comes from, this makes me hate her...😐
The Norm MacDonald rule regarding modern female comedians is unbroken.
what was the rule?
A lot of the JRE era comedians fucking suck. Thats why its so nice to finally have a guy like Shane Gillis come up.
Its astounding how many rich people JRE was able to create that wouldnt have gotten anywhere without his show.
@@user-yr4vp1jk7j😂 Matt isn't funny though
Wonder what Gillis thinks of her?
Shultz 😅 that regard makes Whitney look great.
Wasn't Shane on jre
@@lagunacorona he's only got a good trump impression. His stand up isn't great otherwise
Complaining to a struggling America about how you’d be even richer and even more famous if you were a man just isn’t a winning strategy
Exactly. It's as ridiculous as Taylor Swift's song "The Man", where you literally have a BILLIONAIRE who adored by MILLIONS crying about how much easier her life would be if she were male. Un-fucking-believable.
Dude if she was a man and her being this fucking cringe, she would have a lot less fans, probably wouldn’t even be famous today
I always felt like Whitney Cummings thinks she's a lot funnier than she actually is. So when her stuff falls flat, she assumes the audience is being mean, and holds her to a higher standard. She is in the wrong business. She's smart, reasonably attractive, and works hard. She just isn't that funny.
She's unfunny. Painfully so.
You can't say that. You're insulting her fans...🙃
@@TheGoodRant Her fans have terrible taste.
@@CheapGodivaNOW you’re attacking her fans!
If you call yourself a comedian, but the majority of your time spent in front of a microphone is not telling jokes, people will notice.
Not even that, because you don’t have to be telling a joke every 10 seconds in order to be funny. It’s all about story-telling, timing, and execution of the joke that make someone funny. And it’s always obvious when someone is trying too hard to be funny. Excessive hand gesturing, saying “like” too much, and screaming/being loud to try and emphasize your humor are never good things to do in comedy. Real comedy is natural and flows, and Whitney just doesn’t understand that.
Comedians think they’re bigger than who they really are. Blame Rogan who thinks he’s funny.
He’s funny but not naturally, Shane Gillis is naturally funny his mind just roles into comedy , Joe has to think about it
Blame the public, they're the ones idolizing celebrities
Joe is a great Podcaster, but a terrible comedian
For me its the constant complaining and victim mentality
Yea it's irritating
For me it's "my boobs" "my vagina" . . .basically take a shot everytime she talks about sex. Comedians write their stand ups. So if you look at it this way. She thought it was a good idea to write 60sects jokes in a row.
@@G_0_0_Zroot that's >99% of all female comedians
@@Ungood-jl5epI think of it as they get on stage and have the private conversations that they have with their girlfriends at the coffee shop. The girlfriends laugh, so they think it's funny to everyone.
"If I dont get positive reactions, I am hated. And it has nothing to do with myself."
She is amazongly insecure, whoring for positive attention and breaking down for negative response.
She should get a Life offline with honest and loving people around.
Its the "not having anything of interest to say" for me.
I’ve been red pilled by Redbar but it’s actually uncanny how 99.99% of things that come out of comedian’s mouths nowadays are not even remotely funny.
Redbar is scripture.. 🙏
REDBAR IS WATCHING! it's just a Redbar Rumour!
That dude is the personification of a barrel fire, fucking yikes
IF Whitney wants to be respected as funny then be funny. I listened to her podcast a little when it first started and all she talked about was going to therapy, and therapy breakthroughs. Not funny, not interesting, not entertaining. When she goes on Kill Tony she trys to be funny instead of just be funny. When she did those onlyfan roasts, she micromanaged everything so bad it was awful. She was a great comic when she focused on being funny. But she so desperately want more that she's trying WAY too hard and it's horrible. It's a slippery slope.
I think what makes her stick out as annoying and what keeps the negativity on her is the fact that she gives more attention to people who don’t like her over the people who actually do. She feels sorry for herself which is crazy because she’s successful already lol
She’s insufferable
Maybe people think she's not funny cause she's not funny....
Has nothing to do with the fact that she is a woman. It's that her standup doesn't make me laugh. Then she whines about men being sexist, completely missing the mark. Jordan Jensen, Jessica Kirson and Nikki Glaser make me laugh and they make fun of themselves and others without spewing self important bs. If those women I listed don't get a laugh, they work on their material. If Whitney doesn't get a laugh, she calls people names, pulls the woman card and alienates herself from possible fans. Online hate sucks, but you have the option not to pay attention to it. It should fuel you to get better, not warp your mind into thinking all comedy fans are bad.
Natasha Legero is a funny woman comedian. Shes consistent with her personality/shtick. Never heard to much about her personal life. Whitney is like the faded glory version of Natasha
Great video! Very on point imo. It's almost like she just doesn't understand the core components of comedy.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it!
Whitney calling herself a clown is the funniest and also the most accurate thing she's ever said😂
Man hearing her talk about all the industry people she looked up to making fun of her online made me feel a lot of sympathy, it’s very relatable. Basically anyone who’s ever been bullied as a child: imagine if that was entertainment of millions and not just your school and also it’s not just grade school that’ll be over in a few years, it’s your livelihood and your income depends on being liked. That sounds like a nightmare, and yeah insecurity has a lot to do with it, but not many people catch as much shit as Brendan Shaub and Whitney. They’re both not handling it well but I’d like to see how Rogan would handle it all of a sudden people respected him as much as Whitney and got shit on in the same dismissive way Whitney does
I hear you. I feel sympathy for her as well. I think most of us wouldn't know what that's like. I would say though that Rogan get's a lot shit but he ignores it. People who troll him know that he's not going to see it and even if he did, he's so secure that he wouldn't care at all. Whitney takes the trolling too personal. But the past few months she seems to be ignoring it and I'm guessing it's the baby. Maybe she just needed something else to focus on this whole time instead of being hyper fixated on her public image.
@@TheGoodRant I would wager joe is also very fixated on it to a healthier degree. It’s true he gets a lot of hate but he also has the biggest podcast ever and is a pioneer of the industry and a kingmaker of comedy so it’s a lot different to being the punching bag for comedy fans, deservedly so or not
Did Whitney bully Owen Benjamin?
@@ryneredington idk but I never hear from that guy anymore, didn’t he go full alt right?
@@IvoryPrince2k24 nope, he just continued being a comedian and made fun of all the races
This applies to all comedians, Comedy is an art form, comedy has been watered down a bit due to their lack of commitment and outside distractions. Only very few comedians still care about their legacy and will put out a special ever 4-5 years giving their best work. Whitney Cummings is not one of the very few comedians.
Whitney's appearances on Marc Maron's podcast are the best...for Maron.
You hv such a calming presence. Keep it up!!!
Thank you!!
The fact that she's proud of Two Broke Girls is enough.
love your content, please stay consistent
Much appreciated. I'll do my best!
People dislike her so much because no one thinks she's funny but she keeps _insisting_ that she is 🙄
I think she's funny, but her excessive rants on people who don't think she's funny is a turn off. She obviously has a lot of insecurities. I'm sure that is intensified by the industry she is in. The level of truth is behind what she is saying, is severely magnified by her insecurities. I'm sure some people don't like her because she is a woman. I doubt that it's a high enough percentage to effect her audience. People like confidence, but not ego. She walks this line of ego and insecurity, which isn't appealing. Which is a turn-off for a lot of people. I think if she would get to the point of just relaxing and enjoy what she's doing and stop worrying about the people who don't like her. She would at least be able to live in the moment of enjoying the success she has had and is having.
Saying “you’re not funny” is the most direct thing a person can say meaning that they are insulting you, not your fans. Also if you weren’t deeply insecure, someone saying that would mean absolutely nothing to you.
I don't get why people like you say this sort of stuff so confidently. Anyone, especially those that reach a high level in their craft, is deeply protective of it. You don't just reach a height where everything rolls off your shoulders. It's not fair to criticize a person, then attack their character on top of that because they had the audacity to respond
All comedians are deeply insecure
@@clips1404 if you’re sure to mention that your cut from a different cloth from the rest of society saying at every turn that no one else has the capacity to do the job that you do, like Whitney and other comedians do, I am positive that that person is in a position where others can criticize whatever content they put online.
Whitney, along with countless other comedians, are nowhere near audacious. They do not push the envelope of their medium of entertainment, they are mostly spineless unfunny hacks who are trying to milk every last penny off of their likeness exploiting their fans. It’s all a large grift.
All comedians are narcissit.
@@clips1404 if you're sensitive like whitney just say that... Someone that isn't insecure wouldn't take offense from a stranger lol. Enough people say it, it might just be true
This is good analysis. Given me a lot to think about.
I love many female comedians but Whitney is very hit and miss I’ve given a slight chuckle every now and then but the projection is crazy
Whitney has a hugely inflated ego. She places WAY too much importance of the role of comedians in society. They make us laugh, they’re not the “free speech warriors” they claim to be.
All of the new age modern podcast bro comedians act like they are saving the world when most of them just wanted to be actors but weren't talented enough so became stand up comedians. Its only the self aware ones that are actually funny.
"We'RE thE moDeRn day PhiloSPpherssss!!!!!"
Also, if you're a free speech supporter only AFTER someone accuses you, it gives weight to their accusation. There's no such thing as "canceling" someone, just their job opportunities and if the only time you care is when your money is on the line, you aren't believable.
Who else came into this video as a guilty pleasure but left it kinda feeling a bit sympathetic for Whitney for her struggle to face her own inadequacies and move forward?
Keep it up bro! 🔥🔥
Thanks man!!
I think it's important to remember that part of the fundamental nature of the internet sphere is to blow things out of proportion for views, likes, and clout, and I wish Whitney would remind herself of this before putting herself in front of the firing squad with certain things that she says. I think, like most people, she is her own worst enemy, at least in terms of not being "one of the cool kids," but this isn't something that's all bad for her either. She's incredibly competent, and this has led to her being successful as a sitcom writer and show runner. People look to her and depend on her; she was gonna run Roseanne if you remember. This is not something you can say about all successful stand up comedians. Roast era Whitney was a cool kid -- that's a bad bitch, straight up. I think she just grew up a little, if you'll allow me some poetic license in describing things. I hope that woman chooses happiness one day, and never looks back, though I'm someone who would consider themselves more indifferent, than anything, to her stand-up career (this is a truly insignificant thing to point out, as we are all indifferent to 99.9% of the stand-up material available to us). She has achieved quite a lot. She's talented. She's funny. She's not everybody's go to (again, what an obvious, stupid, and pointless thing to point out), but she wouldn't be on the level she is if she wasn't these things.
P.S.
Take this with a grain of salt, I guess, because if you couldn't tell, I'm a straight up simp for her, and if there is a heaven, it is going to involve her sitting on my face quite often (damn, this close to being a gentleman!). I mean, goddam Whitney, it was already a miracle that my vocabulary extends beyond the words "butt" and "stuff," and then here you come with an ass that most women can make a career out of these days!
P.P.S.
Actually, I have been personally offended by internet comedy critics' treatment of a certain comedian, as of late. Y'all better start puttin' some motherfuckin' respect on Tom Segura's name again! Shit is lame, ridiculous, and pathetic. I'm looking at you, Comedy Enforcement, ya charlatan. Tom, you can sit on my face too!
The first few seasons of 2 broke girls were cool but kat dennings was major part of that
I really enjoy her work. I do wish she could let herself enjoy her successes as opposed to succumbing to the idiots. She’s a lovely woman. She’s a brilliant comedian and 8:58 writer. I’ve noticed she recently appears to be more of a breath of fresh air, happier. Thank you Whitney for continuing to make us laugh.
The line about "protecting her fans" is such a load of bs. As if she wasn't a comedy fan herself younger before she made it big and had her favorite comedians. I can't tell you how many people I tried to get into Tim and Eric/ It's Always Sunny, etc. just to hear how bad it was to them and that I'm weird. I didn't care. Fans like what they like. She was just going through a meltdown and that to her felt like a justifiable enough excuse from an emotional release
Thinking SNL is the cool kids....thats part of her problem right there
It's a strategy she's using to keep her current audience in trying to convince them she's their protector in some way.
My wife and I are both huge comedy fans and we have tried to like her but she’s just not interesting or funny.
I love this accent, is it from any particular province or city in england?
Thank you! I'm from Hertfordshire. But I've been living in North America for 10 years so it's pretty watered down.
When women get pregnant it fixes all their problems. I’ve seen it happen to women like her who are up in age
Surely you jest 😊
She’s a nice looking girl. And usually pretty girls have simp guys laugh at whatever dumb things they say. Over time, after hearing all the compliments about how funny she was, she decided to make a career out of it. Her looks and confidence got her farther than her talent or personality.
As a Gen X woman what Whitney says resonates with most women…this commentator being a man is not going to have the same experience. As well, Whitney has above average looks so the fact is folks don’t like when u have too many things going for you.
She is just being real about women’s frustrations, so too bad if you don’t like it! It is one of the functions of comics to tell the real truth.
Great video. Looking forward to more
Thanks. More to come!
When you say I’m not funny, you’re attacking other people, and I will protect them. 😂 there’s no way she actually said that
Genius take! Well said.
Anyone using age, race, sex, religion ect to explain why they are a victim- just aren’t that good at their job. Could be a female comedian, could be a male plumber.
You have to care about the people who love you instead of the people who don't
It’s like the female equivalent of people saying their shadowbanned.. She’s a nepo baby + me not really enjoying her comedy style + her intense insecurity are the reasons why I’m not a fan - not because she’s a female.
Nepotism how?
@@EnidWellness not nepo, my b - comes from a well-to-do family but has said she ‘grew up poor’ 🥴
Whitney's problem is she was an actor writer who got into stand up early but she is actually better at acting and writing. She should have focus on making series and films than stand up.
I liked Whitney when it came out. I don't know if I would still like it. I did not like two broke girls.
Can you imagine the active response & reaction another comedian would get to have acted in the way whitney did in that interview? - one that just so happened to be a male. The closest example of a cemedian getting super real & emotional on their podcast is someone like bobby lee but (correct me if im wrong) the vast majority of the time it happens he somehow manages to find a way to leave me in stitches.
Is it wrong to see it that way? I dont know I guess I could be tripping as well.
The thing is bobby is actually funny
@chenetalphonse3504 ssmmsaying though.
Great Pod Bro. New Sub.
Thanks I really appreciate it!
@@TheGoodRant Always... Keep Up the Great Work Brother. Have a Good One
Other than not being funny, she's very successful.
She’s a comment reader. That explains the insecurity. People need to develop a thicker skin when it comes to the internet.
One subject sex thats it with every female comic they dont talk about anything else .
One requirement for comedian, be funny.
She is a virgo. She was born that way
Whitney is at her best when Tim Dillon is ripping her apart, she should lean into that
@1:43, if women have to work twice as hard to get half of the respect as men and its so much more difficult for women to get attention for talking then why did Oprah and Ellen have the biggest talk shows in recent history? Her logic completely breaks down under scrutiny and she's just playing the victim for sympathy.
OK, the fact that she had to say "the white man thing" what kind of bullshit is that?
lmao
She’s not a listener.
She wants to be the underdog but she hit it big before 30 and with 2 Broke Girls is basically rich forever and her kid will be well off. She now tries to lower herself by being part of the Rogan sphere of comics. She should be focusing on writing and acting which she's better at. Stand up was just the launching pad.
she wants to control the uncontrollable
So many of these comedians are unbelievably sensitive and delusional. You tell jokes. Relax.
You can't record 400 days of conversations without saying something that will get you picked apart.
Whitney is a good comic. Comment sections call her unfunny, but her peers don't say that.
Seriously. I always go to her stand-up shows when she tours near me, and she's alwasy fukn' hilarious. Her stand-up works live in-person for sure.
Her peers do because they get something out of being associated with her - she knows a lot of Hollywood business people and celebrities. I don’t believe for a second that most of them find her funny. Remember a lot of the same people have Brendan Schaub on their podcasts and do podcasts with him purely because they’re his friends.
@@cady__ she's not on my list of podcasts I frequent, but I tune into her stand up and her roasting is cutthroat.
Women are more attuned to negativity and victim mentality. So it's not something so bad. Also, I like her comedy. I used to think that women can't be funny but after seeing her content. I changed my opinion. I watched her show too. Even though it has some flaws but overall I liked it. I watched 2 Broke Girls but couldn't get pass Season 2. But overall I like her personality and humor.
Honestly she gives allot of trouble, she needs to accept many people find her really bad as a clown. I don't encourage hate to her and im sure most sane people dont, but she needs to accept that she is not goated!
She seems so aggressive
this chick when all in on the me too movement and cancelled her friend chris d'elia...probably because she was trying to impress hollywood friends.
during this period a lot of comedians where running certain jokes by her to see if it was appropriate because they were scared of her backlash.
ultimate classic example of hot chick losing her power and has public break downs to gain sympathy and acknowledgement.
Because I never asked for her but am somehow stuck with her.
I realise we all have our own opinions. Even if we sometimes act like we like something we dont. At the end of the day , we have to be honest with ourselves. Whitney to be honest . Its an easy fix. Stay out of the limelight. Not saying forever , it something yougotta feel the waters with. People hate complaining people. Not here and there but all the time . complaining. Theres a person out there that wakes up wonders if hes gonna eat or if little johnny is gonna feel better today or if all of your medical test are gonna vome back neg... They see this person that has a steady flow of good money . Not a problem that matters(health, shelter, food) complain cause "im not liked" come on girl the more a persons face is seen the more likely , people are gonna hate you .. aspecially when you complain about stuypid stufff.. By the way...... I love Joes standup comedy... Just saying
Bro u so articulate , intelligent and posh sounding , i was surprised when i saw ur black. Sry for the casual racism i am not from the US
Well said!
appreciate it!
What a cool channel. First time I have seen it ‘I was today old.’ I hate that saying. It’s so stupid.
You should cover Lilly Singh! I haven’t heard anyone talk about her Ted Talk before
Wow Howie was so insightful
I've seen only one of Whitney's specials, the one with the sex doll she had made to look like her, and I thought it was actually pretty good so it always blew me away that she gets this tidal wave of hatred from people online. None of her takes are really that insane or awful, she seems like a decent person, I think the only real thing she does that makes people not like her is give attention to people who don't like her. I mean her biggest sin seems to be that she's insecure and a female comedian, and if she was flatly not funny at all she wouldn't be this successful. I think because she's open and vulnerable and insecure she reflects a lot of aggressive and sexists attitudes in our culture and people really hate that.
Interesting take! I wondered the same thing.
I wanna see that snl bit
Crying about people hurting your feelings, as a comedian, is a bad look
She lost me at "I don't have that WHITE man thing of 'Who wouldn't want to hear me talk for three hours about anything?' "
Nope. I've been around too many people to ever think that rambling on was a white man thing.
She is more successful than funny. I’d say most comedians that you can define this way get equal amounts of hate.
I dont subscribe often....
Like your speed though.
RealSeeReal
Appreciate it!!
omg Her and Chris D'Elia had a show? lmaooo thats hilarious how they ended up being successful in standup.
I remember her talking about it on Howard
also... why females comedians get angry when man think they're not funny?? I can assure them that no one is trying to be a hater, it is just that it happen to be a true statement -almost in it's entirety... of course, they're are some exceptions..., but this girl isn't one of them.
Well over a million views on some of her stuff online and she's pretty
She can buck up
“I have to be twice as good to get half the respect”
If she sees herself on the same level as Tim, then she must see herself as 4x as good at comedy….
A big part of comedy fans just think whatever they are told is funny, is funny. Like example, Rogan told Brendan Schaub he was funny...and he wasn't, but because Rogan said, hollow empty people with no opinions just echo it. Some of her stuff is funny and some isn't.
Yes that’s so true!
I don’t want to shame her either. She lost both her parents recently.
good content. like the channel
Thank you!
Eveyone that cant make a joke to save their life always has the biggest opinion. Whitney is Hilarious. Cry about it
I thought I never found her funny ...here it was hate......shiws what I know ....
8:00 I LOST MY TEMPER IT DOESN'T HAPPEN A LOT *makes insane face that belies the previous statement and suggests she knows she is lying*
I don't think she's that funny and delusional in some of these clips BUT...
I've seen her with just the fellas on a podcast and giving and taking sh*t, roasting, she does hold her own and is good at it and IS very likable in those situations. So I respect her some still.
And she does seem way chiller since getting pregnant. When you have a kid, a lot of the bullshit you thought mattered dissolves, and that's probably happening to her now.
she has her funny moments, shes not amazing just good, but i feel like her always talking about her detractors just puts a bigger spotlight and carries further the narrative of people thinking she isnt funny. if she just moved on hopefully itll get better, she just gotta ignore the people who aint famous lol
