I was born in the late fall of 1978. The 1968 Columbia Academy Award Recipient of Six Academy Awards, Brilliant, Classic, Iconic, Timeless, Drama Musical Movies, Oliver! is one of my favorite movies of all time! The behind-the-scenes rehearsing is interesting!
A very nice film from the great Carol Reed, who was one of the greatest directors of all time. And Oliver! Was one of the greatest musicals of all time!!!!!
I kinda like being made to realize that Mr. Moody didn't grow his own beard for the part, but it was stuck on as onstage. It adds to the theatricality of the enterprise. A different age altogether.
All this footage can be seen on "A Sense of Carol Reed", a 20 minute film which was released as an extra on the Criterion Region 1 DVD of "The Fallen Idol", which concentrates on four of Carol's classic films...Odd Man Out (1947); The Fallen Idol (1948); The Third Man (1949) and Oliver! (1968).
I was amazed at first seeing this as it looked like a step back into another world ...but now I wish I hadn't seen it with all the scenery and lights as I realise the film isn't real.
Oh, none of it was ever real but I get where you're coming from. It's kind of like the great magic tricks, I don't ever want to learn how they're done.
It is just a rehearsal and it in black and white. It isn't the finished movie! It is takes planning, lots of hard work and creative artistic talent! Iti still magical!
Wow, the old film reels. Back in the days before digital filming, where everything was done on film and you had to be careful not to expose the film to light, otherwise you lost everything that you filmed.
I Love Mark Lester From OLIVER! 1968 😀❤️😃😍

Is there no sound on this or am I going deaf?
No sound. It’s silent.
