Everyone here is talking about their homework and I'm just here because I wanted to see if lithium was as explosive as sodium when combined with water, lol
@@papates No unfortunately they rejected my application despite my repeated proven trials in the total eradication of Suqmeh from the bodies of those infected with it.

Did you seriously not get a demonstration of the Hoffman Electrolysis Apparatus in chemistry class? I think I even got that in first class of middle school and I know I even did the same experiment at home myself (just a transformer used for modeltrains, some graphite electrodes and two test-tubes). One of the most fun experiments to do because of the pop sound the hydrogen makes when it ignites.
I was reading about the properties of Group 1 Elements (Alkali Metals) and one of their properties brought me here - "They react with water to liberate Hydrogen Gas. Thanks so much!
which is why shi na is rapidly making business deals with afganistan; they will help modernize afg and build roads airports etc...because...afg has a HUGE amount of lithium to mine out...then shi na will move masses of their people in there to do all this work, but not move them out...and they will takeover afganistan...to obtain all the minerals there...to continue being a super power...
1:09 Group 1 metals are lighter than water? That's kinda sloppy, other than lithium and potassium, none of them float. Rubidium, Caesium, Francium are all denser than water, there are more group 1 metals that don't float than do
Obviously not what? There's definitely enough lithium in batteries to cause damage. That's how they get their lithium to produce meth in the "single pot method"
thanks dude i have some doubts , is it lithium blast when we drop in to water? will lithium completely dissolve in water? what is the liquid we get when hydrogen gas is separated and will it cuase burn effecton skin if we touch the liquid?
I just watched a "fire service" video that talked about having to use tens of thousands of litres of water to put out an electric vehicle fire . . . and I've also seen a vid of a Tesla car that accidentally rolled into the water at a boat ramp and caught fire when submerged! 🤦 A serious lack of facts in safety info if we're honest.
If you also want to know about reaction of sodium and water than just replace lithium with sodium and there you go , you've got the clear explanation of sodium...
Not really. Sodium and potassium can explode violently when dropped in water, and it has surprisingly recently been determined that the mechanism is a Coulomb explosion where metal spikes out through the contact surface and reacts with the oxygen in the water. The hydrogen flares off a bit later.
If that robot appeared on my property... i dont know that i would use old engine oil and sand in balloons. It would contaminate the property. I like the idea of a nice armor piercing round to the battery pack.. if it penetrates the armor and damages the battery or exposes, the likely lithium battery, simply turning on your sprinklers would destroy the bot via violent reaction to H2O
Colour me disappointed that I only have lithium carbonate for glaze making. No exciting fizzing for me! It's a good reminder though, that some glaze ingredients are water soluble, not that I ever pour off excess water!

Thanks, rather useful in the essay I have to write on how Group One metals react to water :-)
How'd it go?
He works for TSLA now and specifies how many water tankers the Fire dept needs to bring to a TSLA fire.
If you have to ask, you don't have enough.
Hi
@@thanos3841 good morning
I don’t know why this was recommended but I sure enjoyed the video.

I suggest doing a Q&A next week or maybe a 500k giveaway

That's kinda sloppy, other than lithium and potassium, none of them float.
Rubidium, Caesium, Francium are all denser than water, there are more group 1 metals that don't float than do
Only lithium, sodium, and potassium are less dense than water.
what happens when placed in deuterium?
Thanks for the great video!
This really intrigued me
The pop test got me good ...hahaha!
I love the sound when he lights the hydrogen and it goes bloooooooop
obviousy not. Batteries have only a small strip of lithium, not a solid chunk.
Obviously not what? There's definitely enough lithium in batteries to cause damage. That's how they get their lithium to produce meth in the "single pot method"
thank u it is useful for my HW
Ok

why/how does the H gas make that pop sound while extinguishing the candle?
Lithium reacts with warm water or cold water?
Outstanding Video.

You know, it's strange to think how this is a psychiatric medication, in spite of our bodies being mostly water.
the medication is not pure lithium, but a salt of it

Yes, I know, I have opened batteries before. I was saying it's a small strip because its very thin and doesn't amount to much.
He forgot to conclude by eating the lithium. Lithium makes you happy 💊. Lithium is medicine.
Well if you want to get Lithium without ordering you can get some from energizer lithium batteries. But I'm sure it won't be enough for you.

Mining Lithium in Subnautica must be pretty wacky then
Yeah
Li+H20 can turn Li quite higher up on the periodic table because the Chemical Reaction of Li can change its Atomic Structure
Except only nuclear reactions change atomic structures of atoms...

Why your Tesla is doomed if it catches fire.
You can't use water to put it out.

use dry hands, or you might burn yourself. I Suggest not to touch it with bare hands. (like many chemicals)
