MISA and Saiki were funning around because Saiki wasn't wearing her shoes. For the previous song, Saiki took her shoes off and climbed down off the stage and was held up on the shoulders of one of their techs and a cameraman in the Princesses area of the audience. (The Princesses area is specifically for women, so they have a safe area and won't get hassled by any guys) She sang a verse and chorus but couldn't get back up on stage quickly enough so Miku finished out the final verse and chorus. As this song starts, you see Saiki walking in from Stage Right the audiences left, grabbed her mic and started singing. The main reason she didn't pause to put on her shoes, is that they were already on the click.
Being on the click for Band-Maid is, Akane sets up 3-5 songs in the playlist for the backing track and the click track. Akane has/had a trigger behind her left foot with 2 buttons, one to start/stop the click, the other to start/stop the backing track. When she is ready, Akane will trigger the click, that lets everyone else know to get ready, then she will count in on the high hats as she triggers the backing track. (This is how they did it up until mid to late 2019 when they switched labels and finally had the funds to hire a few more techs, who now runs the tracks for the Ladies. Although Akane still triggers them, they are run by the tech who is usually next to MISA.)
But back to Saiki's lack of shoes. Since MISA plays shoeless unless the stage area is messed up in some way, (Too Hot, Too Dirty, etc), she and Saiki were smiling about her now being shoeless like MISA.
And yes that was Kanami the lead guitarist. Kanami wears a headcover similar to a maids handkerchief, and Miku wears a Maid's Brow with a Red Rose. (If you want to look up something funny look up Red Oni-Blue Oni on TVTropes and compare Miku and Saiki's Red/Blue roses) - [Heck just look up Band-Maid on TVTropes]
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Live and in person it's exactly as portrayed in the video. Obviously in Japan it is a tsunami of fan love, but here in the US it's just as frenetic and the ladies show their appreciation by their interactions with the crowd. I saw them twice last year and I'm trying to score tickets for August but that's still up in the air. What I really want to do is to see them in Japan, hopefully at the Shibuya Line Cube, which from watching their live videos seems to be the best place. I'd also want to see Wagakki Band, SCANDAL and Glim Spanky while I'm there. That's another group you should check out. Classic blues rock at its best.

    Always love this one.
So here's the 'fun' story on this one. In the previous song. Saiki had removed her high heels to dance around in the Princesses section of the crowd. Miku had to sing the last verse for her. Saiki hadn't put her shoes back on, prior to starting this song. Misa always plays in bare feet on stage.(Her nickname is 'The Barefoot Assassin'). So that is why she came over & danced around Saiki, laughing with that beautiful smile. Saiki put her shoes back on while Kanami was playing her solo. Mischievous little imps.

Fair enough...an oversight I assure you :) I actually hate pausing at all, but there's no way I'd remember that thought at the end LOL However, I agree with waiting for guitar solos to be over before pausing :)

This Real Existence Performance Is From 2018, If You Notice At The End Of Kanami's Mini Solo She Looks Back At Saiki As If To Say Did I Do Good? There Is One Band Interview Where Kanami Confesses That She Has A Serious Girl Crush On Saiki, (Don't We All, Girl Or Otherwise) This Is An Intrical Part Of The Bands Overall Dynamic. The Song Itself Is About Saiki's Lover Being Preoccupied With A Robot Girl - Hence (Your Virtual Doll) "A Big Thing In Japan" And Not Giving Her Enough Attention, "Could You Even Imagine"? OMG!!!

Eric, you’re hitting some Band-Maid gems for sure! Great reaction as always 🎉
Saiki’s breath control is insane; however, this is one rare occasion when she’s obviously struggling for air. The crazy events right before the song started, combined with the fact this was song 25 of a 26 song setlist? She is human.
Anyways, you’ll find so much to analyze in Akane’s drumming. I’m sure your Band-Maid to-do list ✏️ is growing, so please consider “Warning!” Plenty of frantic, but controlled drum action there. And one of her longest fills, I think. Runs a full two measures. See if you can catch it!
(And as a newly minted Maidiac? We’ll probably be giving you all the secret inside jokes and traditions, like “never stop a Kanami solo” 😂)
    Welcome to the family

There seem to be a lot of chatter about Shoes associated with BAND-MAID, so here's one. When the airlines in Europe lost their luggage they weren't too concerned about the computer with their backing tracks on it. They just rearranged the setlist and the show went on. What they were more worried about was the sneakers the had bought in L.A. Please do 'Unleash!' next.

5:15 Doesn't matter what I'm doing, as soon as the music drops out and Miku sings that little line, I stop to listen. Every. Time. 🕊
And BAND-MAID is *all* about having a *good time.* The only band that I can think of that _might_ be having more fun is Gacharic Spin. They are exhausting to watch, in a good way.

    (sigh)
OK, here's as much of the real story that I have heard people who (say they) were there have said, combined with what I saw in the former official live version of Freedom that used to be available. Saiki didn't voluntarily take her shoes off, they fell off after the 'Princess' section basically yoinked her off of the stage toward the end of Freedom when she got too close to them to shake hands/hi-five, which apparently used to be OK in that section because they thought they could trust the female audience. (Personally, I don't know if they still do the Princess section in Japan...but I do know they don't do it on US tours.) The tech was trying unsuccessfully to keep her from falling into the crowd. The rest happened as described by others.
Some people say that this is the reason she flips off the crowd at the end of the first verse of Real Existence, but I'm not sure the camera angles line up properly between the two songs...the Princess section was traditionally on the far right (confirmed by the video) and Saiki turns to the crowd's left to shoot the bird.
There's something else about this video. At the start of the second verse you can see Miku tuning her guitar. There are a couple of speculations why. During the intro she's hitting her strings extra hard and may have knocked it out of tune. Alternatively, due to the confusion at the end of Freedom she didn't get a chance to swap guitars between drop-D and standard tuning songs and had to change her tuning on the fly with the guitar she had on.

    • @DrumAttic
      @DrumAttic  11 месяцев назад +1

I love these stories! Very interesting! I'd probably be flipping the bird too if I got pulled off the stage! LOL
