So amazing. It's also worrying...she has no flight wings and relies on him. If something happens to him then she'll have a serious problem - I guess we all have that problem in a way.

Yes, that happened near our place in India. Male bird died in an accident. But forest watchers find its nest and fed mom and its chicks until they are able to come out.

While walking through a jungle on one of Thialand's tropical islands I stumbled upon a couple of hornbills half a year ago. They were very territorial and attcked me when I approached too close. I told a friend of mine where to find them, a week later he sent me a video of his face with a bleeding cut. He came too close and wasn't careful.
I found myself getting nearer and nearer to my laptop screen to absorb what is happening here, as if I were part of the whole engagement. Quite utterly fascinating and masterfully presented. Robert, uk.
I see different types of Hornbill around my place. This is incredible to discover. I must take a closer look at trees , especially if something old is being removed. To make sure none of these fellows occupy them.
Question: If something happened to the male and he couldn't provide for her, would she stay in their trying to protect her eggs and eventually starve to death, or would she at some point, peck her way out, leave the eggs to die and protect her own survival?
