Grant Hill is the definition of class and sportsmanship. The guy carried himself with dignity and grace on and off the court, was a walking triple double along with Jason Kidd and was the player after MJ who everyone in the league believed would carry the NBA for years because the way he conducted himself and with his talent. The guy was a true super-star in the 90's and even after the ankle surgeries that almost killed him on the operating table he bounced back and became mentors for younger players and was still able to defend the best in the league even after losing his explosiveness and became a important role player for that Phoenix franchise. A true champion, but unfortunately there are a lot of trash leaving comments that ruins the moment.

When Jordan did his first retirement and people asked him, "Who is the next MJ or great player?" he answered, "Grant Hill". In an era that was all about defense he was that constant triple double threat; they were much harder to get back then. He was also the prototypical "Point Forward". Before LeBron and Giannis, Hill was 6'8" player with handles and court vision mixed with world class athleticism.
Played in pick-up games against Grant when he was still a teenager at SLHS, often at the Twin Branches court in Reston. Even at 15-16 yrs old he was damn near impossible to guard. He dunked on me a couple of times before I realized who he was, forcing me to raise my game defensively. He didn't get a third, but even then you could tell he was special and would probably end up playing in the NBA.
Coming out of Sweden, I came into basketball in 96-97 before the internet was what it was... I remember the VHS tapes of Jordan, Shaq, Kemp, Iverson and Grant Hill among few others to choose from in video stores... Then getting more and more into the NBA with magazines and NBA Action episodes, and then Grant Hill getting injured like that... The respect never got away, I always knew who and what he was. And here we are today. The HoF status is perfect, everything is right in the world in regards to what Grant Hill has been to the world
In the void after Jordan first retirement he was the Man, he inspired me a lot in the 90's and i will always be a fan of this great player, inferior only to his injuries. Long live Grant!

I met Grant Hill playing Laser Tag with my brother and father. He was with his kids. He’s really good at it too because of how tall he is. That was at Florida. (We were gonna ask him for a photo but he was having a good time with his kids and we didn’t want to bring it up)
