- This is part two of The Ronin Ski Build.
Watch Part 1 here. • Making Skis by Hand in...
In this video I finish off my custom build of Ronin 108 LTE skis, including tuning the bases and edges and skiing them over at the Skyway in Italy. At the end I give you my thoughts on these skis, reveal the bindings that I have mounted, skins I chose and my special message etched on the side of my skis.
The process was super fun and rewarding and I learnt loads about ski building and sustainability in the ski building industry. I would strongly recommend checking out their ski range and considering building your own Ski's in Chamonix!

"not bad for a youtuber" killed me hahah
😂 cut me deep... but I guess I am a youtuber?
Haha, felt good saying it ;)
Really enjoyed watching these videos on building the skis. I've spent time at the Rossignol factory in Voiron watching how mass produced skis being made and Jonno's skis are an art form in comparison. I would compare it to going to McDonald's and seeing how they make a burger as opposed to a Michelin starred chef creating a dish.
Appreciate it 🙏🙏🙏
What a sick setup, especially topped off with those ATK bindings 🙌🏼
Glad you liked it!
Very cool. You, and certainly Jonno, have take the love of skiing to another level. Beautiful and inspiring. Thanks!
Thanks!
Another great video Dave! Enjoy the skis, they look beautiful
Thank you!
I recall the terror at the band saw stage when i made some skis and i wasnt even doing the cutting 😂
Then the dread when you clip the first rock followed by relief when you realise how tough they are!
Every persons most nerve wracking step. Terrifying at first but once you get the feel for it its not that hard. Dave did great.
Lovely! Thanks for showing me precisely how master Jonno made my skis :-)
Our pleasure!
With love and care !!
Beautiful! Awesome to see this process.
This was fun to watch. Very well done all around, and I’m certainly including the camerawoman. ❤
Thanks!
She's a queen.
Can't wait to get mine!
Very interesting report, I've been considering this brand for a while now and you almost set my decision to go for them. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience.
No worries!
Thanks for shareing...
Thanks for watching!
Great vid Dave.
This was so cool to see! I just transitioned to skiiing this year after snowboarding for the last 20. Very cool to see the process of how these are made! Happy skiing :)
Happy skiing!
Over to the dark side , you will not regret it !!!! ;)
Absolutely loved this series! Some Ronin's are in my future.
Awesome!
Always here if you have any questions :)
Great vid, many thanks. What are your thoughts on avy airbags? Would love to hear them, as you don't usually seem to carry one.
Pretty nice 👍🏼
Thanks!
Cheers. Dave you really crushed the video.
Nice you share very interest thanks
Really nice video! Considering to get one pair now!
Which shop is it at the end please ?
Th’aks
Thanks! The shop is callled concept
topsheet pops on the white snow.
Thought you were going to use CAST? Why’d you decide against it? Great videos, as a gear nerd loved seeing how skis are made!
These skis are too light to stick a hunk of pig iron on. I have cast on my metal Freeride skis. I’m using these with a light free touring boot so want to keep the weight down.
Could not agree more. If you built a pair of Rōnin 108 in MFD (the heavier construction) they would be perfectly complimented with the cast system. But the LTE is so light you lose all the advantage and weight savings. ATK was the right choice for sure.
Newish skier here: so the sidewalls are just raw bamboo? Dont they absorb moisture?
Bamboo is waterproof! They make rafts from it in some places.
What laser was that etching the side? Looked like a small puck shaped laser.
Its''s a laser pecker 2. Relatively inexpensive and a blast to get creative with.
Just an honest feedback, in my opinion the beard doesn‘t suit you:)
I’ll go back to the handlebar then.
