The Theotokos can appear to anyone. What counts is whether it’s beneficial or not. I was a Buddhist & I suspect that the Theotokos appeared in a dream I had in 2017. At the time it made no sense to me. I dreamt of this mysterious woman at a retreat who people in the dream said might have been Russian. I remember she had golden brown hair in a long single braid in back. I asked her if there was a man in her life & she said he was “lost in Siberia”, which can be similar to Minnesota where I live. Then I went to Siberia in my dream & saw what seemed like heaven across a river. While trying to get a better look I fell in the river & was swept away. I thought I would die of hypothermia but the water was surprisingly warm. It swept me by a tall white building with men in colored vests & hats like helmets outside. I yelled “save me!” & one reached out with a stick & pulled me out & led me in the building. I mentioned the woman & they said they all knew her & I could find her in Wisconsin which is where I was born. At the end of the dream I was driving to Wisconsin to find her & full of joy having realized that I was the man who had been lost in Siberia. Then I awoke & forgot about the dream. Two years later I abruptly & unexpectedly converted to Eastern Orthodoxy, then became a catechumen with ROCOR & was baptized in 2020. I had no previous connection to Orthodoxy or the Theotokos. Then I recollected the dream, which I recorded in a journal. Did the dream predict I would convert & be baptized with ROCOR? Were the men Orthodox clergy in mitres & vestements? More importantly was the dream beneficial to me as a Orthodox? It does seem to strengthen my conviction that my conversion was meant to be.

Indeed she can, and My view on this particular apparition in particular and the circumstances prior leading up to it is to compare Cortez and his Conquistadors to King Jehu and his soldiers as they moved against Jezebel and her vile cult.
Jehu was raised in the tribal schism and never submitted to the superior authority of David’s Line.
Cortez was raised in the Papal schism and never submitted to the superior authority of the Orthodox Church.
But both men SO pleased God by destroying two of the most offensive demonic cults of all time, that they were given blessings in spite of their spiritual shortcomings.
Jehu was blessed with at least a guaranteed if relatively short dynasty for several generations, Cortez and his successor was blessed by Our Lady.
But unlike David’s line, which was promised to be eternal, Jehu’s was provisional on his children both keeping away from the blood cult and eventually submitting to David’s line. The eventually failed to do both, and his line ended.
Similarly, Mexico had to keep the faith available to them until when given the chance, to submit to Orthodoxy.
Instead, they Murdered Saint Peter the Aleut and his companions.
I posit that this began to erode their blessings which were finally fully revoked with the murder of Emperor Maximilian.
Mexico has had only misfortune since.
At any rate, God’s provenance isn’t the capricious whimsy of “Karma”, as you ought to especially understand by now.

    1. Basing your faith around and choosing which church to join or stay in over supposed miracles is very dangerous and a great way to have your faith shaken. A wicked generation seeks signs and wonders.
    2. Isn't it funny that Marian apparitions never happened until after the schism?
    3. Every one of these, Fatima included, had a convenient politcal message.
Look into Jay Dyer's work on these topics, Fatima in particular.

@@pollypeguin Where is the contradiction? By 1531 the separation was already 500 years old. The filioque is a dogmatic error, a heresy, as judged by such great Saints as St. Photios the Great and St. Gregory Palamas, but also the EIGHTH OECUMENICAL COUNCIL, at which the Pope (John VIII) was present and agreed. The Pope(s) in the 11th century AND FOREVER THEREAFTER rejected this council, the Councils before (which rejected any addition to the Creed), and the Symbol of Faith of the Church, thus separating themselves and all who followed them from the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
When you say “the only thing that separated the RCC from The Church was the Filioque” you are saying the only thing that separated RCC from The CHurch is THE FAITH, i.e. the Faith which had been waked away from on account of the heresy which had been introduced.

The approved apparitions of the Catholic Church (especially Guadalupe, Lourdes, and Fatima) are undeniable Father. I was going to convert to the Orthodox Church until I realized these apparitions are actually true and Our Lady is playing an important role in these times.
In my experience, the west accepts the east, but the east does not accept the west. I know Orthodox has an approved latin rite (very hard to find), but the Orthodox Church is way more fragmented than the Universal Catholic Church with our 23+ rites untied under the First See of Rome. I met a Greek Orthodox said he was denied communion at a ROCUR church because he doesn’t submit to Russia & Third Rome. I guess he’s stuck under the rule of first Rome being under the Patriarch of the fallen Constantinople.

The main differences between Orthodox Christianity and Roman Catholicism. the main things which keep our religions separate are:
Papal Supremacy, Papal Infallibility, The Filioque, Absolute Divine Simplicity, Created Grace Doctrine, natural theology, scholasticism, Original sin, sacred heart doctrine, Immaculate conception, Purgatory, Merits/Indulgences, PSA - Penal Substitutionary Atonement, evolution of Dogma, imaginative prayer, "beatific vision" etc
Then the Forced Celibacy of Priests, The use of Unleavened Bread in the Eucharist, The Adoption and change of the Christian calendar, The use of Renaissance statues, Pews, Child Communion, improper non immersion baptism, Cardinals, and differences in liturgical practices (Alter tables, Iconostasis, priest positioning etc)
all of those things, we say the Western Church adopted and innovated and became heretical when they adopted these things.
And we say that in the early church NONE of these things existed, there is no evidence of these things.
No examples of Papal Infallibility, No examples of merits/indulgences, and no examples of unleavened wafer bread, and such.
In fact in the west, In Rome. It looked a lot similar to how we Orthodox exist today. Our priests can get married, we use Icons and not statues, we use the old calendar etc
    Orthodoxy Vs Roman Catholicism:
Energy Essence Distinction vs Absolute Divine Simplicity
    Ancestral Sin vs Original Sin
Non Filioque Trinity vs Filioque Trinity
    Patriarchy vs Papacy
    Revealed Theology vs Natural Theology
    Hesychasm Vs Scholasticism
    Theosis vs Sanctification
    Married Priest vs Celibate Priests
Infant Communion Vs Non Infant Communion
    Iconography vs Statues
Full Immersion Baptism vs Sprinkle Baptism
    One Baptism vs Confirmation Baptism
Leavened Communion Bread vs Unleavened Communion bread
Julian Calendar vs Pope Gregory's Calendar
We are not the same Religion, we do not have the same faith, and anyone who looks into either religions genuinely will see how different we are..

Absolute Divine Simplicity is also not a Catholic doctrine, it's a theory. The Essence-Energy Distinction is accepter in the RCC. Rome does have married priests even in the Latin Rite. They are a minority but they exist because celibacy is a discipline not a doctrine. As a Catholic inquiring into Orthodoxy and very seriously considering converting, its conversations and positions like this that trouble me. I’ve done countless hours of research on the first ecumenical councils, church fathers etc. You’re telling me that these “millions of people” who confessed that Jesus Christ is Lord, Son of God, King of Kings, because of this apparition, are not a part of the body of Christ? Because they’re not orthodox? Our loving God does not consider them a part of the body because they haven’t read 2000 years of church history? From what I’m observing, mostly from internet orthodoxy, is that you guys have become like the Pharisees. I’ve seen orthodox mock the Guadalupe apparition by photoshopping it into a bowl of guacamole and writing “look papists, our lady of guacamole”. Very charitable very patristic! Everyone with eyes knows that is the Theotokos and for these Pharisee orthodox to MOCK her because it didn’t come out of the Orthodox Church is abhorrent. Idk…the truth and the body is somewhere within or between the Catholic Church and Orthodoxy. But hey, what do I know…

Our Lady of Guadalupe actually completely destroys Christianity. Roman Catholics miss this because they chase Marian apparitions instead of testing the spirits to see if something is false. Mary appearing as indigenous is a major red flag because after her repose and burial her body was taken to heaven. She is in heaven as body and spirit instead of spirit only like every other human. If she appears as anything other than of Jewish descent it's false. If Mary isn't Jewish descent, the Old Testament prophecies of Christ aren't fulfilled. Thus making Christ not the messiah. Thus making Christ not God. If the theology surrounding Mary is wrong, it impacts theology around Christ. For two millennias we are constantly warned about trusting miracles. It's tragic that Roman Catholicism so eagerly toss nepsis aside for the sake of feel good miracles.

Demons would not utter the name of Jesus nor would they say to convert. If your problem is “they weren’t Orthodox,” well were they supposed to wait for Orthodoxy to reach them? Orthodoxy only just arrived in the New World. Catholicism was the only option.

False, the Catholic Church is very cautious about approving miracles. The investigations are arduous, and scientifically documented.
During Guadalupe, The Catholic clergy was very disheartened by not being able to convert the indigenous population.
Mother Mary appeared and boom! The priests could hardly handle all the baptisms. Just like Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene as a gardener and later as a walking stranger to his disciples in the road to Emmaus. Mother Mary has been granted and given the mission to convert toward Christ different people by appearing in a way familiar to them.
God used her to bring Christ to the whole world, not just to the Jews.. And she was always present in the major events of our Lord's evangelization.
The fruits of Guadalupe are a Christ loving Mexico. A Catholic Mexico instead of the bloody Aztec and Mayan religions.

@bluebusstop5608 millions have converted??? You are placing the evangelization efforts of the Orthodox Church on the same level as those of the Catholic Church. However, it is widely known that the Catholic Church has been the driving force behind evangelizing most of the modern world. The Orthodox Church, due to its ethnic and national divisions, reflected in its many patriarchs and its autocephalous structure, has struggled to coordinate significant and unified efforts to evangelize as effectively or as extensively as the Catholic Church. These divisions have hindered its ability to achieve the same scale of outreach, both historically and in recent times. That's why the Orthodox strike me as if they take a very Quietist stand on their modus operandi to evangelizing the nations and being fishers of men. Not to mention their fallacious theological schismatic beliefs and differences with Catholic theology and doctrine, which encompass the real Christian orthodoxy.
As Christians who believe in life after death, the souls converted by the Catholic Church throughout history still matter, and their salvation is part of the Church's legacy. This is not limited to modern conversions; history and tradition play a crucial role. Your perspective appears overly focused on the present and lacks the intellectual honesty or diligence to appreciate this broader context. Anyone with even a basic understanding of Catholic versus Orthodox apologetics should be aware of these distinctions.
I’m not here to give you a full lesson on the apologetics between these two positions-positions in which the Orthodox Church remains schismatic and theologically incorrect. If you’re too intellectually lazy or unprepared to engage with this topic properly, I suggest you start by seeking out reading material or videos that delve into the apologetics of Catholic and Orthodox theologies. Then, form an informed opinion before making overly simplistic and ignorant comments. Fr. Peter of course has no choice but to walk a fine line, while at the same time towing the party line. But do you want saints and Church Fathers? How about St. Gregory the Theologian? This is what he wrote in a letter in 382, the year after he attended the 2nd Ecumenical Council in Constantinople:
"For my part, if I am to write the truth, my inclination is to avoid all assemblies of bishops, because I have never seen any Council come to a good end, nor turn out to be a solution of evils. On the contrary, it usually increases them. You always find there love of contention and love of power (I hope you will not think me a bore, for writing like this), which beggar description; and, while sitting in judgment on others, a man might well be convicted of ill-doing himself long before he should put down the ill-doings of his opponents. So I retired into myself; and came to the conclusion that the only security for one's soul lies in keeping quiet."
St. Gregory did not live to see the Schisms among the Apostolic Sees, wherein the Church Fathers, who in their hubris imagined they could read the Mind of God, and be privy to the perfect dogmas and doctrines that exist ONLY therein, allowed the Body of Christ to be dismembered one limb at a time. Don't worry, the INTACT Body of Christ does still exist. It's found in the collection of every single solitary Christian the whole world over who, without guile or pretense, is truly seeking His Will in their lives in good faith, penitence, love and humility! This Body cuts across all those chopped-up Body parts. Such an idea will perhaps cause pearl-clutching and shouts of "Heresy!" among those who are SURE it's THEIR church that's God's favorite, and have doubts that others are truly saved like they know THEY are! GROW UP, CHRISTENDOM. If you COULD read the Mind of the Creator of the Cosmos and all its Laws, it would be so much for your small minds it would literally make your heads explode. If the Church Fathers had been truly wise and Spirit-filled at those Councils, this idea would have dawned on them. But it turns out they were sinful, flawed human beings just like we are. Get down on your knees and beg forgiveness from the Lord for allowing His Body to be chopped up, and for imagining that you could out-think Him. @buzzard777 Eastern orthodox do not have a dogmatic/theological opinion on the Virgen de Guadalupe. Do we believe the apparition happened, we don't know and we can't say yes or no. Do we venerate the Virgen de Guadalupe? No.
      It's simple.

@@ClooneyThunder of course, superficially there is nothing wrong about the Virgen of Guadalupe image. That’s not to say an orthodox Christian ought to embrace it. It’s simply something they have a personal love for.

There's... Plenty of ways to deny these lol. Easy - they were political psy-ops. Fatima was to spread anti-bolshevik rhetoric in that area. Every one of these apparitions always just so happens to have a message that was politically convenient to the authorities of wherever it took place.

Jello and cultic is what I am hearing in this answer. Jello is in that there is no opinion regarding apparition. This means it neutral no right or wrong which means no discernment in it? EO doesn't care? Well is that the same across the board with other apparitions? Is the EO mystical enough that they choose not to have an opinion on this and other apparitions? 'Cutlic' in that a Person cannot be called a believer in Jesus unless they are attached to the Eastern Orthodox church. Church of Christ says t his same thing. JWs, Mormons s same so you must be attached to the organization to be a Christian? Your personal faith in Jesus isn't enough or disquailfies you from this? I find this weirdly cultic and controlling and the mysticism of the EO is seducing in this as well.

hmmm...if the Lord had to wait for the Orthodox Christians to arrive in a missionary field before giving the potential converts a significant sign...think about that. We are simply not there, because of the emphasis on the ethnos, the preservation of particular cultures, rather than spreading the Gospel message to all nations. With some significant exceptions, of course.
