  • FYI, I was not happy with this edge after the video. The middle of the edge kept bothering me so I reset the bevel and failed couple more times. At the end, I got to a point where I was satisfied by changing the amount of pressure: Not too light, not too heavy, somewhere in the middle. Kept all the lap counts the same and changing the pressure led to a better result.

You are a true a true straight craftsman. I only visited because we share the 1st name. I am sticking to DE safety razors, but appreciate the Stirling reviews you also posted.

Thanks for watching! I enjoy my DE shaves but I've been really into straights and honing recently.

Lol the bevel is uneven because uou were not straight during honing. I made the same mistake! But you did 60 strokes on 5k so my question is it was a refresh or did you set the bevel with the 5 k? Excuse if I ask you but I made 12 strokes if bevel is set and 35 for a refresh. 60 or more if I want to set a bevel. Really set the bevel with the 5 k is very long!!!! But people like it!😮

If it does not shave well it could be geometry. Watching the undercut and looking at the scratch pattern & bevel width under a loop would likely help determine an issue.

I think geometry is part of the issue. The bevel is a little uneven on both side but I'm trying to work through it. It cuts really well through arm hair so I'm keeping at it.
I'll give up if I can't get a part of the edge sharp enough but this one seems like it has potential.
