Wow watching this I work as a body man for nycta on buses use to change similar hinges on rts bus made up tools for that would use a product called slip it love the way you work very professional and that you work with out a lift
Finally got mine on my 68 after adding the screws, and Dawn!!..Like those hinges they look really cool until watching you try and install them, then they look way less cool ;). Thanks for the video!
5:58 The last paragraph of those instructions seem to imply replacing the _entire_ rubber hinge with a series of metal ones, with a spacer between each hinge. While I suspect this wouldn't be as watertight, it may be good enough for some situations - and the added strength of the metal hinges across the length of the door could help make them less likely to warp or bend over time.
Thanks for sharing your vast knowledge Question what is there difference between a stationery engine set up and truck engine set up I.E what modifications are required to put a Stationary engine in a truck is that posable looking at a 6V92 Generator
Generator application is constant speed, usually a Jimmy has a hydraulic governor. The governor needs to be changed at a minimum. Possibly more expense than it's worth unless you already have a donor out of a vehicle
Generator is a constant speed, usually Jimmys had a hydraulic governor. You would probably need to find a v.s. setup out of an automotive or industrial application.(variable speed). That could get expensive, unless you have a donor engine already. Will
to get the rubber to fit make a steel mandrel out of rod and bend to 90 ish to make a handle, releave at the bend to the narrow dimension, lube with grease,, and force it down the track with a mallet.
@@BusGreaseMonkey If the pieces are butted together under compression, i.e. a total of six feet and one inch of rubber hinge slipped into a six foot slot, I doubt it would leak much. You'll get way more leakage through those two steel hinges than you would a few slits between the rubber pieces. But, it's not my bus, so, whatever.
He don't want to share where he got them so you folks who asked prev's go to him and fix it for you! Not very cool way😒 I need those rubbers too and I'm looking for them
You are making up stuff and being a jerk. Client bought them not me. The guy that made them no longer makes them. The rubber is available from multiple sources including luke at us coach in NJ. Be nice or go away
Mechanic, fabricator and an all around great guy, many thanks Scott, 👍👌❤🇨🇦

Those replacement hinges are pretty clever!
Any bend or warp the rubber style fails so easily. These won’t let a door fall off.
@@BusGreaseMonkey I've seen plenty of busses in your videos that had fallen doors
I wish I’d known about those hinges a few years ago. I used up about 10 feet of that rubber trying to get one door back on track.
Where can you buy these hinges ?
Suggest instead of dish soap. Use wire pulling gel instead.

Where can I get those hinges for my 4905
I was hoping the title of this video would be "replacing the bus bay doors, Pal".
I need my bay Doors done.
Would it be possible to cut the rubber hinge into foot long pieces?
The idea is to keep water out.

It looks as though you did the next best thing
I think Mike Pat Derek Jason and Tony should look into this video and try it on one of those buses that need restoration
any idea where to get those hinges?
Not any more i don’t
@@BusGreaseMonkey the guy who made them passed away apparently.
🤘💪🙂👍
