@2:50 Legend of grappling and stuntman work, Judo Gene Lebell. From Airplane to Rush Hour to The Jerk and being Ronda Rousey’s old judo coach, he’s been around.
Broken Lizard's Jay Chandrasekhar says the group is still hoping to get Potfest made. That’s the latest update about it as of April this year. So fingers 🤞🏻
Jurgen Prochnow, who played Baron Von Wolfhausen, starred as the German submarine captain in the 1983 film, "Das Boot." It was nominated for 6 Oscars. When in the sub, on the lake before trying to buy the recipe back, when he says that he had "a bad experience on one of these." He is directly referencing that film.
Prochnow's first name is "Jürgen" (not "Jurgen"). If your Keybord has no "ü" key, you can also type "Juergen" instead but just ignoring the umlaut leads to a major mispronunciation. 🙂
100%! Club Dread is without a doubt my favorite Broken Lizard movie. They need to watch the theatrical version though. The unrated cut adds all kinds of weird sideplot stuff that grinds the movie to a hault
This is my only claim to fame lol but the leg in the grinder is my leg. My friend Doug does special effects for movies and didn’t know this was a broken lizard film at the time he was asked to make a realistic human leg for a German film. We didn’t know till later that it was for this movie.
I’m so glad my 20’s was entertained by these guys from Broken Lizard! 🦎 We will NEVER have guys like them ever in film making! So appreciate these gems
Jürgen Prochnow, who played Baron Wolfgang von Wolfhausen, not only starred in Das Boot (1981), he also made a reference to it in this movie when he said that he had a bad experience once in a submarine.
Super Troopers (1&2), Slammin' Salmon, Beerfest, Club Dread, QUASI.... the Broken Lizard troop has yet to make a single bad movie; they're all iconic. xD
Fun fact, the german trio dudes, the guy with long hair is Deeks in NCIS los angeles. And Wolfhouse did indeed play in the movie Das Boot, but it was not an actual referance in the movie. It's true Sandy!
This is, for me, one the most funniest movies ever. I had a time, seeing it at least once a week. It´s relatively unknown but here the Broken Lizard´s get the hiper hype. DAS BOOT!! As a fun fact, the Baron was played by the german actor Jürgen Prochnow, who starred the Wolfgang Petersen´s film "Das boot". He gives some laughing references to this movie.
Cloris Leachman was a playboy centerfold, the most nominated and awarded Emmy actress (I think now she may be tied) and the maid in Young Frankenstein! She will be missed. And, btw a normal german boot of beer is 2 liters.
club dread is easily their most cult classic that most have never even heard of. It is seriously worth the watch and such an amazing product of it's time.
They created a recent TV show..Tacoma FD which is pretty funny, kind of a Fire Department version of Super Troopers but its TV so they have to tone down some of the jokes but its a riot
I remember watching this and being stoked about the pro Bodybuilder Günter Schlierkamp being in it, also was awesome and funny when I noticed this movie was filmed in Albuquerque NM where I live!!😎🤘
My best friend and I watched this in middle school, we considered the peak of comedic films. The guy at the beginning, Mr. Schneidelwischen, the name means testicle washer. "So frustrating, fwustwating, fwustwating, fwustwating..."
Don't know how they wrote his name in the script, but from the pronounciation it would be written Schniedelwichsen and translate more to something in the direction of d*ck jerker, d*ck polisher, wiener wanker and so on 🥒👋
10:10 They're in Colorado, which already has a high altitude (comparable to the Alps, I suppose). So being on the roof is likely the highest they can get. So it does make some sense.
All the Broken Lizard stuff is gold. Their first one was called Puddle Cruiser, and you can really see their sense of humor develop. Club Dredd and Slammin Salmon are highly recommended as well. Honestly though, you can't go wrong with any of their projects.
Gross gott! Stationed at Panzer Kaserne 1983-87. I’ve introduced many Americans to Hefe Weizen, a weizen glass & how to correctly pour hefe weizen. Prost!
If you guys go to vegas i recommend the Hofbrahaus. Off the strip by the hard rock. Exact replica of the one in Germany. Polka band playing. Menu has 1 thing. Sausage and saurkraut. Light or dark beer. And yes they have a Das Boot!
I’m a beer drinker and my record was equivalent of 36 12 oz cans in 4 hours! (All Miller High Life, my favorite beer, while watching this movie) (I am in the 1% of people who do NOT get hangovers, even in this case) I do have a “Das Boot” like Kacee’s as well as a 96 oz Boot (6 pounds)! I am a recovering alcoholic of German descent and can easily chug the bigger Das Boot in about 30-35 seconds, (I at my worst could chug a 5th of any liquor 40%), it is true about the spin, which is harder to chug and keep your lips in a proper place to finish! I only drank MHL, PBR, Coors Banquet and Budweiser as well as certain craft beers (I do not like light “beer” it’s just water, I did always prefer the taste) well I can’t drink like a gentleman, I’ll drink a opponent under the table, then of course, drink myself under the table 😂
Only real fans knew the “unspoken game” of taking a drink every time they took a drink in this movie… if you made it a half hour into this movie your a legend 🎉
Not trying to hate but its just too obvious at this point. “Why doesnt he just slip it on its side?” “Throw her in the beer.” Right before that EXACT thing is said 😂 how is anyone fooled
Barry waking up naked, in a field with a dead deer saying "Not again" is reference to some show from the 80s. I forget what the name was, but it was about a guy who turned into a werewolf.
@@TheAbominableDrFaustus That was a movie, not a show. This was a show. I was fairly young, and it didn't last, but I remember that being a running occurrence.
@@phunkjnky oh right. Ha, excuse me. Although it was probably the show Werewolf, but I’m pretty sure both that show and this film were referencing An American Werewolf in London.
Hey guys! Love the reaction!! By far my favorite movie from broken lizard (reminds me so much of my college days.. lol). FYI, when the Germans were in the submarine and the grandfather was nervous he mentions about being in a sub before he is referring to the movie "Das Boot" (aka.. the Boat), which the actor starred in. Also, I also had a small boot beer glass.. 😊. Take care guys!!
At the start of this video I felt like Anthony was going to scream "Just do it!" at me lol. like 18 years-ish later and still waiting for Potfest lol. Also watch Super Troopers 2, it's a really good follow up.
This movie, the Olympics and any time the Brits try to talk trash about us Americans are the only time I morph into a bald eagle with an AR-15 while Kid Rock plays in the background…
I don’t think that the boot beer cgi. Don’t forget that in the commentary for Super Troopers they stated that during the maple syrup chugging scene they tried ice tea but it went too fast, so they changed it to real syrup and they had to chug 3 bottles each for the scene. This is why at the end of the chug Rabbits eyes are so bug eyed.

It was a perfectly timed joke lol
That’s a great reference. I first knew him from John Carpenter’s In The Mouth of Madness. He’s a pretty underrated actor.
Jurgen Prochnow is a great actor, one of my favorites
By far my favorite joke in the movie, and hardly anyone gets it
