Gratitude changes what you have into enough. I was putting out a few things I bought to decorate for Valentine Day, it wasn't lost on me that right now, thousands of people have lost everything.
I often get that feeling because we moved from a 1 acre lot in town with a HUGE house. It was the oldest in town, with a barn. Back in the day, it was a beautiful farm. But we wanted land to build up our homestead and grow our farm. We was blessed with the beautiful, breathtaking land with a barn, bunkhouse, small shed and a very small house. I can live with a small house, but I can't seem to function well with the small kitchen. I found myself hating this house a lot. It was making me depressed and I started hating cooking and baking. Something that I always found pleasure in doing, I now started hating. I had to keep reminding myself of how blessed we are. We have the place we have been praying for, for so long. Debt free on our dream land. We decided to start renovating, utilizing the attic for bedrooms and redoing the whole layout of this small house so I can eventually get the kitchen that I love. I don't need a expensive, luxury kitchen like I had in my old house. I just need space and bigger appliances. We designed a kitchen that will fit our budget and I can get back to loving what i love to do most. Cooking and baking. The point is, people need to remember their blessings and it's ok to feel certain ways. Just pray for strength and the ability to make changes that will bring us joy. The LORD is my strength, I shall not want. He will provide for our needs in His perfect timing. I have to keep telling myself that.
You’re not the only reason who hated their house/ apartment! I hated my apartment during my first marriage, maybe because of the events it represented, it was the last apartment my first husband and I lived in before we separated and divorced. I tried my darnest to redecorate, everything to try to make it a home for my family, but subconsciously I knew something was wrong. After my ex husband and I seperated and divorced, my daughter and myself moved into a flat. Looked at different home interior magazines for inspiration, but couldn’t afford things. Then my cousin told me about second hand/ thrift stores to buy furniture expensively and do whatever you want. And you know what, my daughter and myself had a blast! We went together and picked out different furniture, paints and accessories for her bedroom and our whole apartment. It was the best time, I think because we did it together and made her feel like it was her home as well.
Just keeping it real. Great video. Not being satisfied with your home/decor doesn’t equal ingratitude. Your response is spot on. Make affordable changes as you can reasonably and plan more in the future.
I Loved that you so honestly shared the ups and downs of having a home. You are so sweetly honest. I have been there too💖. Our home was built in 1955 and it came with those dark original doors and baseboards. The first thing I did was to paint the doors and baseboard. WOW. What a difference! I am grateful too, however there are still times when I see our neighborhood, and my friends or family homes and wonder WHY? I Prayed for safe home, a fireplace, and wild blackberries. I have exactly what I asked for and I'm meant to shine my light right here and paint those crumby dark spots. Hope that made sense 💖🐦
Wow. Everything looks so amazing. I wish I could go back when I was your age and have that mindset. Let’s just say, I’m 65 now, and finally love, what I hope is my last home. It is lacking a fireplace and a garage, which I miss. But I’m happy to have what I have, unlike when I was young when I always wanted something else. This is a very inspiring video. You truly do have a sweet sunny home and a wonderful husband. It’s so nice to see you both in the video!
Our mom did that. She painted (every few years) to change things up. Your hallway looks more cheerful now. I prefer lighter doors and trim as well. Dark wood closes in on me. Cute calendar idea! Thanks, Andrea
Thankful for everything that the Lord has given is a start to being grateful. You have your own house and you are making it into your home. I’m a grandma and I’m still learning how I want my place to look and feel. Thank you for sharing your process ❤
❤I love a fresh coat of paint to begin the change up of space in a home! My youngest daughter moved out and we’ve redecorated her room (the guest room) very bright with a new carpet, fresh coloring, curtains, and a new bed. When she visits we plan to surprise her with the change up. 😊
What a great video!! I also own a home and seeing decor projects on pinterest sometimes gets me feeling sour about my house. It's open concept and I find the long tall walls to be intimidating and restrictive. I also always forget that nothing I do has to be permanent and I can do something different later on if I dont like it (Like repainting the blue!). I almost wish that my house had more character and charm instead of being modern. I am so grateful to live in a house that I own after years of renting but I admit that I too, can be a stinker about it sometimes. 😅
Gratitude is huge in contentment! And a little bit of paint works wonders! I love the hallway refresh and that pink scallop around the calendar was adorbs!
I am grateful for everything I have, for my family and the roof over my head but especially for my savior. I love the the “painted” frame for the calendar. Genius!!!!
Awwwe, you two are adorable. Loved the dance party. So cute. I love what you did in the house. I have been painting walls and doors for an instant facelift at all the places I have lived. I think what you did looks awesome. 🌷🇨🇦
Thanks for sharing your feelings about hating your house and the conviction that comes with feeling that way. Many of us fight with those feelings! And God bless you for bringing it back to gratitude and contentment. I love though how you battled that feeling with alittle paint and creativity! You go girl, well done!!!❤😊
Thanks, I am homemaking in New England with five boys. ☺️ This type of reminder of thankfulness in bitter cold January helps a lot. I loved your refresh.
You are refreshing, love your honesty! I think we all fall into ungratefulness at times even grandmas like me . I love gardening! I’d suggest to start slow with vegetables if it overwhelms you , tomatoes and peppers are really easy to start yourself but I’d suggest just buy a four pack at a local greenhouse you could try Roma tomato they are a paste and hood for use in cooking . And a four pack pepper unfortunately all vegetable an flowers come in four packs at greenhouses . Or you could swap with family or friends. The key to raising tomatoes and peppers is to start with the dirt well fed with rotted manure or fertilizer then feed once a week depending on what kind of fertilizer, liquid once a week granulated lasts a few weeks . Cover the soil under the plants with straw or old hay to keep the leaves from touching the ground to prevent blight . Vegetables need roughly an inch of water a week . Have fun learning ! Here in Mo I’ve found green beans do better planted the last week of July then harvest in fall .
Paint is a great fix! I just gut renovated my bathroom after 23 years! Prior to that, I replaced the big box store sconces with vintage ones, painted the walls, and had a beveled mirror made. The gut renovation is awesome, but you can’t do everything all at once! I recommend a balance between paying off the mortgage and investing in changes that will bring you joy 😊
I adore your house! Did you paint the doors the same color as the kitchen? The goal of paying it off sooner is commendable too. My home is very mid century too. I am much more cottage coastal in my decorating, but I embraced this house for what it is and am having a wonderful time searching for the perfect things! And yes the gratitude!!! 😊
What a timely video for me. I've really been feeling resentful of my home the last few months and have been begging my spouse to move. But we're living on our dream property with a house with great bones. I think I'm realizing we just have too much stuff because it feels SO HARD to manage while mothering two toddlers and pregnant with our third. Thank you for reminding me that little projects are manageable and make an impact. And I am spending a good chuck of time this winter seriously decluttering!
Think of the people in California. So many have lost everything. It makes me appreciate what I have. It may not be much but it’s more than some have. I love your diy. Y’all did a great job.
Hooray for you that you were brave enough to change the paint color after you started painting the walls and didn’t like it!! So many people would have lived with it. Pretty refresh all around 🎉🎉❤
Those little plastic pod wrappers can end up clogging your dishwasher. I have multiple friends who have had repairs done. The hall turned out fabulous. Well done! I haven't heard anyone say negative Nancy in a while 😂 Have a blessed week!
lol I love your little dance party with your hubby 🥰 I often love to give my home a change, whatever it may be even if it is a new case with flowers or re decorate a room, it’s what makes me happy.
Thank you so much for sharing this video with us! It's always so inspiring to see how such simple, budget-friendly changes can make such a difference in a space. I'm so grateful for my home, yet so enjoying dreaming of ways to give it some more character this year!
I wish I had a house like yours. I live in a house that isn’t healthy or safe and financially this is where we are stuck. So when you hate your home but it is safe and not falling apart around remember there are people even here in America who don’t have that.
We bought our house in 1990 and I’ve never loved it but we are still here. I live in a really long house so I joke we live in a big hallway 😂. We are getting close to retirement and we are grateful to have a place that’s paid for and it might not be a dream home but it’s ours. ❤
Im with you all the way on inexpensive decor,,,,I learned it from my Mom who grew up during the depression. My friends always thought we had the prettiest home. Such a resourcefull hardworking woman.
Love is patient and kind, even when you are experiencing hardships in life. Love your way through your difficult times, and you will come out stronger than you ever thought. Enjoy your days.
Yayy 🎉🎉 it's all so cute! And certainly doesn't look like you were using what you had and didn't have the perfect items...it's darling! I think we are all struggling with just wanting perfection instead practicing contentment :) wonderful reminder in the new year!
You did great! Being content and thankful for what we have...God's blessings flow! We lived in our last house for 19 years. It was new when we moved in, but we only had 2 little boys. Over the years our family grew to 7 children and I often found myself frustrated with our home. We had it paid off and were saving up for the next house, so limited too on what we could remodel or add. God reminded me many times to be thankful and to care for the home that I had now. We were just recently able to move to a home over twice the size of our last, plenty of room for a growing family to enjoy. God sees you and will reward your obedience. You are wise to get debt-free. Many great things for your family's future!
You look and sound like your sister over on our oily house. You sisters are very talented! Making it your own always makes you fall in love with your home.
Whole chickens are so underrated. They got me through my early post-college days. When possible, I cut mine into eight pieces and brine them before cooking any way I like. The brine allows for longer cooking without losing moisture and brings out the flavor in any non-salty seasonings!
A coat of paint, a little wallpaper or trim, little things can make a huge difference. I grew up in poverty and bought my first house at 23. Any roof over your head that is yours is something to love. Velour wallpaper, avocado appliances, dark paneling --one step at a time makes hard work do worth it.
Man, I love everything you did, but I absolutely love the hallway project. Our upstairs bathroom desperately needs repainted, and it’s missing baseboard trim entirely. There are even some uncovered holes in the walls at the bottom. We need to get this done before our 2nd baby arrives, so now I’m considering skipping beadboard also, and just trying the chair rail effect. This will be much easier and more budget friendly.
Ooooooh do I ever know how you feel! I moved into this old house 36 years ago when I married my husband. This is the house he grew up in and it is old. We have one bathroom and no plans for a second since our 4 children are all married and moved out. I do decorate it the way I like, but feel I can't change anything else.
First, I always wear painters tape as a bangle, don't think there is another way. Secondly, when everything seems to break in our bus we think about throwing in the towel. We love our nomadic lifestyle and don't want to leave that but there are those times. Taking a step back and taking one thing at a time helps to refocus us.
I instapot whole chicken frozen 60-70 min then let it sit until it’s totally down from pressure without venting. It falls off the bone every time!! I stopped thawing them because it didn’t make a difference 😊
Sometimes I hate my house! We moved here 4 years ago and are slowly chipping away at the things we don't like. We have only changed 4 things total as of yet.
U have such a sweet channel i think. Your ideas are all so great. That calender idea is super cute! Does your kitchen wall ever get scratched by your pans i was wondering? Thanks for sharing ans have a good week!
The older I get, the more I want to be surrounded by beauty and nature. I live in a small apartment with my bf and it's completely non-functional, terrible designes everywhere and I YEARN for a nice big kitchen. We have a piece of land and hope to build our home someday, but it's a long way out. I spent my whole life in a house with a garden, now I'm in the city in the apartment and it's soul crushing (and it's a nice peaceful european city, not like New York which would kill me). I need space, privacy, SILENCE. For now I am very often frustrated with how it is, although I am also very grateful that we have our own apartments and don't have to pay rent. But yeah, I dream of other places.
I know kitchen gadgets take up space and are often unnecessary, but I love my pineapple corer/spiralizer. I only use it a few times a year but when I do, I always think about how awesome it is. 😂
Roast your whole chicken in the oven! The flavor is wayy better. My husband and I buy whole chickens and he breaks them down. But we leave the breast whole on all of them. Roast the breasts (still on the bones) in the oven. We shread the breast meat. And keep the bones for stock. Everything else we part out. Sometimes even deboning and cutting the thighs into cubes. Alternatively if you like working with chicken breast but not drumsticks roast the drumsticks and part out the breasts. But keep all the bones and skin for stock.
You opened my eyes that you are on your way to building your new house in the future like your two other sisters. I thought your channel was different. I enjoyed watching you because you are young and starting out with love and happiness. Your choice of words "I hate" wrong strong words to use. Be happy with what you have. I know you need material to keep your channel. You have a beautiful house and you are a beautiful person. Stay away of wanting more and more you will not be happy. You are just starting out be happy. Some day you will have needs and God will provide.
YoU POOR THING, are you serious?! Yes you are! STOP, you own a home there are people watching this wishing they have what u have, you are heartless, please this isn't hate it's the truth
Gratitude changes what you have into enough. I was putting out a few things I bought to decorate for Valentine Day, it wasn't lost on me that right now, thousands of people have lost everything.
Beautifully said. Thank you. 💛💛

Haha thanks!
When you started the video I thought. If only she would paint the doors. Wonderful. You did. Looks so much better
I love the calendar diy. That is so cute!
Thanks!!
The hallway looks so much brighter and pretty ! But, my favorite is the pink border around your calendar!!! Just lovely !
Oy! I hear you girl! There are days I wanna run screaming from the building!😂❤Love your hallway project!

My thoughts went exactly there, but she’s very young.❤️
Ugh I know. I can't stop thinking about and praying for everyone in Santa Monica. 😭 It definitely makes me feel even more grateful for our home.

Thank you so much!!
Im with you all the way on inexpensive decor,,,,I learned it from my Mom who grew up during the depression. My friends always thought we had the prettiest home. Such a resourcefull hardworking woman.
Aww she sounds amazing!
@@Oursweetsunnydays she was,,,,you remind me of her

Great ideas and the impact was huge 🎉
Thanks !!
I love how real you are!
Thanks!!
Used your Blueland code! Excited to try the dishwasher tablets! Thank you!❤
I love them so much! We don't rinse dishes at all since we switched haha!
You look and sound like your sister over on our oily house. You sisters are very talented! Making it your own always makes you fall in love with your home.
Sooo true! Thanks!
Whole chickens are so underrated. They got me through my early post-college days. When possible, I cut mine into eight pieces and brine them before cooking any way I like. The brine allows for longer cooking without losing moisture and brings out the flavor in any non-salty seasonings!
Ooo smart!
You two are so cute in the kitchen! Impromptu dance party!
Haha thanks!
Love the changes!
Thank you!
Your hallway turned out great!😊
Great inspiration - please, what is the brand of your fridge? I've never seen anything like it. Thanks
It's GE, but vintage. Made in 1961!
Great job 😊
Thank you so much!
A coat of paint, a little wallpaper or trim, little things can make a huge difference. I grew up in poverty and bought my first house at 23. Any roof over your head that is yours is something to love. Velour wallpaper, avocado appliances, dark paneling --one step at a time makes hard work do worth it.
You are so right!
😂😂😂dance party! ..the paint projects look great; love the lid holder too.
Thanks so much!
Glad you changed the color, love the end look.
Thank you!!

Awesome video. 😮
Keep going until you turn it into a place you absolutely love and would never want to leave.
U have such a sweet channel i think. Your ideas are all so great. That calender idea is super cute! Does your kitchen wall ever get scratched by your pans i was wondering? Thanks for sharing ans have a good week!
Oh yes! Haha! I just paint back over them from time to time
Is Blueland made in USA?
What color did you use in the hallway? It’s so beautiful!
How do you store your bigger things like instant pot, air fryer ect. My kitchen has no pantry and the cabinets are not big enough
Ugh yeah that's the hard part of a very small kitchen. I have one cabinet that barely holds my instant pot. Then I keep some stuff in the hall closet.
Good job!
Ive got so much cotton fabric! I’d love to send you some! I sent your sisters quilts.
Nice updates.
Thanks! 😊

Where did you get your dresses?
Madewell, years ago!
God’s blessings
Very sweet video. Just a word of caution about cleaning tablets that children can think are candy.
Ooo good reminder!
Start slowly with your produce. Grow maybe 2 tomato plants and go from there.
Hello from NC
You don't even need to thaw your frozen chicken first!
I always struggle getting it out of the package!
Oh and buy a thermapen.
Using a thermometer is the only way.
Thanks so much! :)
Why don’t you post recipes? Are they on a website?
❤
Do you have.a meat thermometer. You’ll never have another under done meat or chicken.
