    As an autistic person, the flashing lights isn’t necessarily accurate, it’s more like they just constantly feel too bright, like looking slightly into the sun, and the loud breathing noise isn’t very accurate, unless you’re outwardly having a panic attack, but you yourself don’t usually notice it unless it’s pointed out to you. But the sudden bumps and phone pings are so right, and then on top of that you have to act like they aren’t startling.

      We all see things differently it’s a spectrum and This is their experience .For me I sometimes see flashes almost like a flash of heat and light and sound combined when I’m way over stimulated in a crowd that’s inside a building with artificial lighting . I definitely dosnt happen everyday but I have experienced it .

      @Tiara_Princess7 7 месяцев назад +3

      You know, I was think the flashing light may look too much to us, but there is a light flicker (while it is definitely always bright, but we may just notice things like flickering lights more than neurotypicals, so the video exaggerated it).

      I completely agree with you. I personally don't get the flashing lights it's just that they're consistently too bright. And my own breathing is never the focus it's all the other noises overlapping.

    That scene in Oppenheimer when he's giving a speech in front of the cheering crowd with that whooshing effect around him is a pretty accurate representation of what it feels like, in my opinion.

      Fr. When I was a kid, I was undiagnosed with autism. And then ever my mom had to use hair spray, I literally used to run away from her and bury my face in a pillow or my shirt to get away from the smell.

    Im autistic and I have to say, from my experience, this is pretty close. I don't have flashing bright lights, its more like the lighting just gets more intense. Like when you step out of a dark house and into the noon day sun.
    The sounds are spot on. Everything is so overwhelming and intense. I actually had to pause the video.

    Remember people:ASD is a spectrum disorder, it is not the same for everyone who has ASD, my sensory overload actually doesn’t have flashing lights, it does have loud breathing, panic(obviously)and an increase in touch and hearing, all the way until the overload is over

  • @oliverq9793
    @oliverq9793 2 месяца назад +6

    I have ADHD and I feel like this, not because of the intensity but because of the quantity, my attention is "on everything at the same time" and on nothing at the same time, it's desperate

  • @Matrix803
    @Matrix803 Месяц назад +1

    As someone with ASD, this simulation makes a lot of sense in regard to auditory overload. I sometimes have a tricky time blocking out sounds around me, or when people merely walk by it causes me to look up and I'm instantly distracted from what I'm doing. Fluorescent light doesn't bother me so much, but I do find that I actually prefer darker places.

    The person hyperventilating/melting down bothered me more, and I just dissociated the background. It was a little annoying at first, but I adapted. I definitely think I'm BPD rather than ASD. Other people's emotional distress bothers me. (And that person WAS in emotional distress).

    I have epilepsy & depression I deal with this every day at my retail job...it's exhausting. I have to play my own music on my phone in my vest so I can have an easier time concentrating because the noise feels overwhelming at times and I'll forget what I was doing if my anxiety is bad enough.

  • @KipperDip

    It seems like I may be an outlier but the flashing and bright lights are super accurate to me.
    I absolutely hate huge bright overhead lights, they are so distracting and any amount of flickering that they produce is not only distracting but unnerving. Not only that but the noises that the constantly producing is debilitating. Sometimes it’s the only thing I can hear.

    Only certain things really bothered me.
    At 0:36 the group of women behind me bothered me a lot.
    And towards the end when the blonde woman stood on the left didn't bother me at first but as soon as her face change from calm to concerned, it triggered something inside of me.
    Same thing with the guy on the right. Him looking at me didn't bother me until his facial expression changed to a negative appearing emotion.
    What does this mean? Is this a form of autism or something else?

    I work in an office similar to this and the noise is horrible to the point i can't work here no more than few days out the week, loud talking, excessive talking and noise all day long mind you these people i work with are not on a phone they talk like this all day long, im like what could you possibly be talking about all day are you that intriguing, not , i need to work therefore i stay butt i could not survive working here without noise cancelation earbuds, i have them on all day and these people are so loud i have add some calming jazz music to it just to drown them out, and sometimes that don't help either... who ever came up with this open office concept need their ass whooped and made to work in this environment for at least a year

    Im autistic, the visual effects are not accurate in the slightest! Its the stress and the noise thats accurate. But I feel as if when watching this i'm gonna get a sensory overload from all the over dramatic effects. You probably don't have autism, thats why this is super inaccurate!

    • @KipperDip
      @KipperDip 17 дней назад

      Autism is a spectrum, what not may not be the case for you could be the case for someone else. In my case, it is VERY accurate. Just because you do not experience it personally does not mean it’s not true.
      Saying “You probably don’t have autism” is both extremely presumptions and ableist. You have no idea if this is true or not. The point of the dramatic effects are to help Neurotypical people understand Neurodivergent perspectives, not just people with autism.
      People with Autism also often share symptoms and disorders with other conditions as well such as PTSD, ADHD, etc.
      If it is not accurate to you, that doesn’t mean it’s not true. You are not the only person with Autism.
