One of the most amazing things I saw him do was rewrite the entire show instead of canceling a show when he got sick in Europe. His voice was WAY deep and almost gone but the show went on and it was cool as hell.
I totally agree with you, we need more Avi. I second all suggestions in the comments. You’ve a great journey ahead of you with this amazing artist’s music.
Avi Never disappoints, no matter what song he sings or cover he does, Avi puts his own spin & it's magical. I Love this slower more country version with the pedal steel. So beautiful. 🥰 I really enjoy your reactions, I agree with you Avi's musical arrangements are genius. Yes more Avi please.
This was such a cool small old theater, the acoustics were good, but an intimate setting. I was watching the drummer put a chain on his high hat? So that is the different sound you get. This was amazing to watch.
I don't know how many have seen this, but there's a video of Avi singing this song when he's 16 years old. You can see his talent even then. Search Oh Holy Night Avi Kaplan.
I think Avi just gets better and better. I'm so anxious to see his next album. He has said that this year he's going to be writing again. I simply cannot wait!!
He is absolutely his own person! We definitely need to hear you react to more Avi. Maybe one of his lyric videos might not get blocked. Definitely you need to hear "Black is the Colour of My True Love's Hair' with Peter Hollens but his 'I'll Get By' EP is amazing. Also, while he was with PTX he released an EP called 'Sage and Stone' under the name of Avriel and the Sequoias. Different again but such good songs. "Quarter Past Four' is so beautiful and his cover of 'Hey Ya' is a true earworm.
Thank you for reacting to this performance. Avi performed this on his last 3 shows in December. I like how Avi puts his spin on songs. He is always rearranging his own songs. Almost all of his songs have multiple versions.
Hi Mr. J, thanks for reacting to Avi! This is my video taken at the Houston show, 2nd row, and this was the last song he played. He and the band worked up this arrangement specifically for the three Texas shows, because he wanted to treat us for having to reschedule our shows. They finished the arrangement right before getting to Texas, so this was only the 2nd time they played it live. You can tell where some of the sound cuts out due to the phone trying to pick up all the sounds, so it doesn’t do the performance justice at all. YES to more AVI!!! Can’t ever have too much of his incredible voice and song writing!! Looking forward to to more of his solo work on your channel. 🥰
I hope you don't mind I have been sharing your video! The sound is pretty good considering it's a phone but I know it's nothing compared to seeing it live. I'll take what I can get!
@@cocohol3513 yes, exactly! Maybe we’ll get an official recording soon! 🙏🏻 I’m glad you’re sharing this because it’s such a beautiful gift Avi has given us. 🥰❤️
Cool reaction 👍 More Avi please ! I know you enjoyed the Sunset Sound session so you could do the You Tube Space LA session, it's so nice. Full Moon on this show is mesmerising ... Gorgeous ! High notes, low notes, Avi's world 😍 thanks for your reaction 😘
I love the country vibe in this one , makes it so different. Avi is a master of arranging songs and making alternative versions ( even of his own songs ,what gives them a totally different vibe)! There is a video of him singing this performance when he was 17 years ,only with ( the same ) guitar (ruclips.net/video/wrrbSOfDEt8/видео.html&ab_channel=NJRK) , and even then an aready beautiful low voice 😍 !!
How did I miss your reaction to this beautiful recording by Avi last Christmas?!? 😮I found one where he recorded this for his high school Christmas show when he was only 17! He's had that velvet voice since childhood! 💖
It was a bit of a surprise, as he's said he'd been getting tired of having to put out the requisite annual PTX Christmas album. Not to mention that he was raised in the Jewish faith. As 5thGenTexan said, Avi & the band put it together as sort of a gift for having had to reschedule the Texas shows.
Isn't Avi's mom Christian? I thought he celebrated both. Anyway I'm sure he was tired of the Christmas albums, the commercialization of churning out music instead of for the love of it.
@@cocohol3513 I believe you're right, but she may have converted when she married Mike. But, as we've seen in the "That's Christmas to Me" video, Avi did have a bow on his head, and it looked like there were Christmas decorations.
And not for reaction but for your listening. Avi Kaplan singing Oh Holy Night at his HS senior year Christmas concert. ruclips.net/video/wrrbSOfDEt8/видео.html It was recorded late in the performance but great to listen to and compare to the one you just reacted to. Honing his arranging skills and before he began his classical/operatic vocal training.
So beautiful! I love this song. Such a holy night! I lie the guitar! The ending was very special! Loved it! By the way MR J - I do not think you have a high speaking voice. Seems pretty deep to me.
Avi is and always will be such an amazing talent. I think this video is a perfect example of why he never truly “fit in” with PTX. I’m a Pentahaulic until the end but Avi never was a pop artist, which is what PTX is. He’s happy doing what he loves as is PTX, as it should be!
ruclips.net/video/EXFrDHu6zPU/видео.html Hey Mr J , you seem to be interested in the playing of the instruments as well as the voice. This link is to Avi singing When I'm a Fool live. Avi tells a story about his guitar and the tuning of it. I thought you might enjoy the commentary even if you don't react to the song.
Oh, my gosh. You have to go watch the 17-year-old Avi version. I was reading comments while watching your reaction when a couple other people mentioned it. I've never seen a baby-Avi performance, so I stopped yours and went to check it out right away. So wonderful! And very different from this one. ruclips.net/video/wrrbSOfDEt8/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/SbaihAMBFDM/видео.html. Here's a link to Avi singing HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN for a fundraiser he did for his Acappella Academy. Video is awful but the audio and performance are great.
Here's something fun and interesting for you to react to. The songs of Avi's you've reacted to so far are mostly new, with the exception of "Change on the Rise", which was released in 2019. To get a real idea as to how far he's evolved as a solo artist, I recommend you go further back, to early 2017, when he was still in PTX but had recorded his first solo work as Avriel (his real first name) & The Sequoias, doing a couple of songs on the EP with 3 musician friends. The EP was released shortly after he announced he was leaving PTX. His cover of OutKast's "Hey Ya!" is one of the few covers he's done, and, of course, he puts his own eclectic spin on it. Check it out! ruclips.net/video/whBQCkhFwYg/видео.html
This man is out of this world. Love his voice and his artistry. ❤❤
Great reaction. Yes more Avi! can't get enough of that voice.
I hope to see a lot more Avi!!

Black is the Color of My True Loves Hair by Peter Hollens and Avi is a showcase of his lower range, it's incredible!
