Ok here's a lil update on the performance and thermals: The 1.4ghz base clock is very interesting, because as soon as the CPU goes under load (in this case Cinebench) it turbos all the way up to 2.9ghz. Thats a 1.5ghz all core boost, very impressive. The temps (as with any Apple device smh) get up into the 90C range pretty quick and then the fan kicks in. By running the fan at full speed manually we can keep it in the 80s most of the time and run a 2.9/3.0 turbo speed. Scores improve about 2.5%. By the way the fan is 7200RPM, which is nuts, if only the iMac had hard drives that spun that fast 😉

Please do some 4K editing on FCPX and Leagues, these are the only reasons that attract me for trading in my 2013 macbook pro 15!
have same
3rd vote for 4k video. Time to do a head-to-head value comparison with Luke's recommended 2013-2015 Macbook Pro 15!
@@Raingod1 totally agree!
Look at Jonathan Morrison's in-depth video doing rendering on this laptop with FCPX
Oh wow I never thought i'd live to see the day of Luke recommending a brand new/refreshed apple product. This gives me hope for the era upon us that maybe Apple is starting to care about their customers again.
So the latest 1.4 GHz Intel cpu on the MacBook Pro is the better option than the more expensive 2.4/2.8 GHz version
Super man, very detailed information very nice. Subscribed
even though it only has 128gb, a external hard drive would still be a good choice right?
I have a 256gb ssd in my macbook pro (1799 model) and I use an external ssd (Samsung T5) for editing off of as its fast and then store everything on my external HDD (Seagate Portable HDD) So I have space on my ssd. If I need to re edit I'll throw it back onto the ssd
I’m a noobie but why can’t you just store everything on the SSD?
If you need more, external SSD drives are affordable. Good way to add storage space when you’re running out of room for your stuff.
@@junehudson6147 That’s why Apple sells you the iCloud. Everything can be backed up to the cloud - for a price. My stuff lives there.
Great info I’m definitely inspired to purchase this machine. I love the way you just toss the stuffings out during the unboxing not like other RUclipsrs who try to be all neat lol. Great Video I’ll sub
or wait for the 2020 redesign, that heaven help us.. may have more useful ports on a "pro" device.
The way he unboxes is so random but yet so perfect
16in Macbook, will be very expensive as well -
I just purchased MacBook Pro 2018. It is basically the same spec as the 2019. I like the deal of 2018 model.
Show up the internals of it, in comparison with the 2017 model
Please do one video for which is the best mac for music production and djing.
Hi
I make dance videos, mostly in 1080p 60.
I want to buy this base model macbook pro for my work using FCP.
Can you share the time required to render a raw 1080p 60 file of 15 mins long ?
Happy I ran across this video before I made my purchase. I was going to settle for the Air, but I kept going back to look at the Pro. I am thinking about long term investment versus short term expense. Even though I don’t understand all of the tech specs, thank you for helping me make a real decision.
'it's worth paying for the $1500 over the $1300 to get the 256gb ssd over the 128gb ssd' - ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!!!
WHO IN THERE RIGHT MIND WOULD PAY AN EXTRA $300 FOR AN EXTRA 128GB SSD SPACE WHEN YOU CAN BUY A EXTERNAL USB-C 128GB SSD FOR LESS THAN $40!!!
I THINK YOU SHOULD TELL YOUR VIEWERS THAT THE INTERNAL UPGRADE FOR $300 IS NOT WORTH IT
Check your math, 1500-1300=200, not 300.
Thank you for this vlog! Just the right review before buying one!
Both Luke. 4K editing & gaming. 🙃
with intel iris grapics? really? xd
Larry Davila i think he meant 4K editing and not also 4k gaming that would be impossible
With 8gb of ram? That's a stretch...
@@larrydavila8322 I use a 2012 retina MBP with 1GB Vra, and a GT650M and the computer in this video beats it. And i can play tomb raider on my computer.
Raspberry Tech so you mean you can dota 2 and league with this machine?
That base storage of 128 is the only thing that keeps me from buying one. If only the storage was expandable in some way by the user. Heck, even a SD slot would be better than nothing.
16GB of ram + 256gb Storage should be made standard
I just bought the 256gb version and I am honestly in love with the design, and touch bar. However, I will admit the fans are LOUD. I upgraded from a 2017 rose gold MacBook and it had no fans. It made absolutely no noise. So going from that, to this. Wow. It is really loud...
Yeah they’ve used one fan with a very high RPM, and frankly not the best fan design as far as sound levels (quite an unpleasant tone). With two fans you don’t have to spin them as much so it’s a quieter experience, though of course not as quiet as no fans 🤣
So my question is. is the 1.4 ghz i5 (2019) better then my 2.0 ghz i7 (2012)
yes he says it’s better than all i7s 2017 and prior
Install after effect, premier, chrome and adobe XD and run them simultaneously. Lets see the performance.
Ankit S how’s so far?
It good it really good for coders and game developers
Just got mine off the refurbished store but got 16gb of ram and 256gb hard drive. And wow is it fast and the keyboard which I liked in my 2016 MacBook Pro. They keys are quiet and feel great. In Canada it was a 360 dollars cheaper than the new one.
