David Draiman... A powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime, which is incredibly difficult to do. He has a timbre in his voice that's just hauntingly beautiful and has pure tonal properties to it! An awesome talent. Try some more Disturbed please! Loved your reaction Bisscute.

Paul also added the connection on his own Social Media pages - can't get better kudos than that. Personally I think Disturbed's arrangement is better than Simon & Garfunkel's version as, in my opinion, this is not a 'nice' song it is a warning song BUT don't get me wrong I loved S&G's version when it came out in 1963/4 but at least with David Draiman's words in the song are more understandable.

Just a few days ago, the vocalist here - David Draiman - tweeted that The Warning and Plush gave him hope. "Young powerful women playing real instruments and writing and playing songs the entire rock genre can be proud of." *The Warning* is 3 sisters whose music has roots in classic rock, with grunge, punk, and other elements mixed in. Try 'Evolve' or 'Disciple' or 'Animosity' for some of their new stuff.

DAVID HAS A VOICE THAT GRABS YOU SOUL PULLS IT OUT HOLDS IT IN HIS HANDS AND MAKES YOU TAKE NOTICE OF WHAT HE IS SINGING YOU GET GOOOOSEBUMPS AS HIS SONGS TOUCH YOUR INNER BEING "HE IS AN ANGEL AND A DEVIL ALL IN ONE"
ALSO I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT DAVID WASN'T HAPPY WITH THIS PREFORMANCE BECAUSE HE WAS VERY ILL AND WAS ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL THE NIGHT BEFORE NEEDED IV ETC HE WAS VERY ILL WITH THE FLU, SORE THROAT AND HI TEP BUT HE DISCHARGED HIMSELF THE NEXT MORNING (DAY OF PREFORMANCE) BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WANT TO DISAPPOINT AS YOU CAN SEE HE WAS SITTING AS HE STILL HAD HI TEMP AND SORE THROAT AND DIDN'T FEEL SAFE TO STAND AND AS YOU CAN HEAR HE WAS REALLY CONTROLLING HIS VOICE BECAUSE OF SORE THROAT BUT WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PREFORMANCE "SPEECHLESS" AS EVERY PREFORMER SAYS "THE SHOW MUST GO ON" AND DAVID DID
I HAVE ONLY KNOWN OF DISTURBED FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS WHEN I LOST MY FRIEND MY SOULMATE MY HUSBAND OF 30YRS SUDDENLY TO AN AGGRESSIVE BLADDER CANCER AND MY SPECIAL NEEDS SON WANTED TO PLAY THIS SONG AT HIS DAD'S LIFE CELEBRATION CREMATION SERVICE WE DID AND THERE WASN'T A DRY EYE IN THE CHAPEL BECAUSE EVERYONE UNDERSTOOD THE SONG IN THEIR OWN WAY BUT......
S&G'S VERSION (ABOUT 50 YEARS AGO) TO WHICH I GREW UP WITH WAS A WARNING ABOUT TECHNOLOGY (B&W TV) ADDED TO 5HE RADIO AND TELEPHONE TAKING AWAY WHAT WAS IMPORTANT TO HUMANITY LIKE SAVING THE PLANET FROM WAR, HOMELESSNESS, JOBLESSNESS,CLIMATE CHANGE,HABITAT DESTRUCTION ETC ETC ETC HUMANITY WAS SO FOCUSED ON WHAT THE TV ETC BROUGHT TO THEIR LIVES WAS SEEN AS PURE JOY, SO FAMILIES WERE BEEN SEPARATED AND AS ALOT OF SPORT COVERAGE WAS ON A SUNDAY ALOT OF PEOPLE STOP GOING TO CHURCH AS WELL (SEE TO EXPLAIN IMAGES OF OFFICIAL VERSION OF THIS SONG BY DISTURBED) THIS SONG WAS A WARNING ABOUT WHERE HUMANITY WAS HEADING
    AND 50YRS ON.........
DISTURBED COVER ..... WTF WAKE UP HUMANITY AND TAKE NOTICE OF WHAT TECHNOLOGY HAS BECOME AS WE ALL LIVE WITH MOBILE PHONES, LAPTOPS ETC AND THEY HAVE BECOME OUR WORLD AND MANY CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT AND ARE CONSUMED IN THEIR OWN LITTLE WORLD AS OUR HUMANITY/WORLD CONTINUES TO DISTRUCT AS WE STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUES AS MENTIONED FROM 50YRS AGO AND HUMANITY IS IGNORING IT WE HAVE BECOME A VERY ME ME ME SOCIETY, WE ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE, ONE WORLD ONE LIFE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND IF WE DON'T TAKE NOTICE THEN IT'S GOING TO BE TO LAAAAAATE AND DISTURBED'S VERSION IS OUR LAST WARNING WE NEED TO STAND UP, LISTEN TO OUR GOD, ACT AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO ONE PERSON, ONE ANIMAL, ONE PLANT, ONE DAY AT A TIME BECAUSE IF WE WORK TOGETHER WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE BECAUSE WE CAN :);):)

And in my humble opinion, it is much better than the original, which is also delicious. Here it is a growing tension from the first notes. A wonderful voice... And a very eloquent title... Great song, brilliant performance. Unfortunately, this song will always be associated with the events of a few years ago, when during a WOSP concert, the mayor of Gdańsk was murdered on stage. This song performed by Disturbed was a tribute from the city's citizens to the president.

The kettle drums are some of the best dramatic tones in my kit, if you use them at the right time. This was added at the perfect time, to make a point. I have the windchills, gong, the all famous cowbell and other eye candy in my kit. Most of which is just that eye candy only being used once in awhile for certain songs. But the kettle drum is always good for darker tones, it brings the emotions up and gets everyone to pay attention, Be Safe!

My favorite version of this song! I do like the official video better than the Conan performance though. Better visual.

Holy is too right. Draiman was a cantor. The neon g-d is a reference to the golden calf in the Diaspora

Yeah, don't be fooled.. Yes, they would rock your house. Listen to their own song on the REVOLUTION album entitled "Uninvited Guest". Another beautiful ballad.. 🎼🎶🤘

It's good you reacted to this song 👍. An old time classic. Original version of Simon and Garfunkel is an absolute master piece.. you should really listen to the version of this song sang by ....Henk Poort. Absolutely awesome and mind blowing 👍🤟🤟. Good educated reaction my dear 👌👍👋. Job well done 👌. Take care and be safe ❤️🌹👍🤟🤟😘

04:50 I'm sure this question has already been answered, but JIC it has not: those big drums are called timpanis, two or more kettledrums. I personally liked to call them "thunderdrums," LOL. A name I came up when I was a little kid many YEARS ago when I too didn't know what they're called.

disturbed lead singer David Draiman said in an interview that Normally spends at lest 5 mins in a studio but for this one song he said he spent 3 hours in the studio and that he had to use techniques that he hasn't used in a long time since he was young and he was sick on the Conan show

Drums are Timpani. Many timpani can change pitch accurately w/ the use of a foot pedal.
New suggestion: Queensryche - Take Hold of the Flame live in Tokyo 1984 (another great vocal performance. (and the band too).).
