Music was Last Surprise Remix from Persona 5 Strikers, Rivers in the Desert from Persona 5, and then the last part of The Black Mages playing Dancing Mad.
Cut test is shown generally at 1000 or 1100% speed.
Rope is Grunt branded 10mm twisted Sisal, $12 per 10m hank.
Cutting board is the same I have used since I started these tests back in 2017.
Thanks for watching! If you have questions, I’d go straight to Roman st the insta link. I dont know anything about heat treat, and only that sharpening requires fine diamond, but thats it. I’m just an arm, really!
A quick word about sharpening, will make a detailed video on it. Sharpening is as easy (or as hard, depending how you look at it, lol) as a steel knife. Yea. For real. Will make a video on it soon. But one needs to use the following abrasive, or it will NOT work: one needs to use diamond lapping films on a squishy material like a mouse pad as backing and perform a stropping motion, using oil or WD40 as lubricant. Just like stropping, light pressure. These diamond films run for 8-10USD a pop and last suuuuper long. So the total sharpening setup will cost you less than 30USD. Again, I'll do a dedicated video on it.
@@kknives_switzerland is this your knife??
😮 what did I just watch? Lol thats some crazy town stuff. Pete be honest, if someone told you that outcome of that test, you would of told them there full of it at least I would if. Just dame crazy
@@kknives_switzerland thanks was wondering about the sharpening will tune in.
@@johnsierchio2115 Yes Sir.
Pete, I counted 2,346. Please retest!
The 3 dislikes are from Maxamet, Rex121 and Sandrin Tungsten Carbide
Haha😄
Lol spot on
Maxamet is z tuff compared to ceramic
Excited for the mule, remember to look they dropped 20 minutes ago lol
Pete was last seen shuffling off into the sunset, his spent arm dangling limp and dead as he muttered about a Swiss alchemist and his arcane dark magic.
😂😂
Lmao
Eventually knife technology is going to get so advanced that its impossible to test with rope and you'll have to switch to the Bricky™ Test.
Nice
Making a knife which can slice through bricks as if they were rope is something I am still working on.😜
@@kknives_switzerland My man go make a collabration with pocket knive brands like opinel and bring us the ability to tear space time with a disposable pocket knife I will be waiting
Good gravy
I guess the real question is When will Spyderco announce the reveal of the PM2 in FlexCeramic and makes us wait 27 months before the actual drop?
😂 (But for real, if they want to do it, they can come to me any time. I'm open for negotiations.)
If you're waiting for a PM2 in anything, you're doing it wrong.
@@CNYKnifeNerd - I have recently come to understand that. Well said.
A free spreadsheet recording all the data from all the test you’ve done is extremely impressive. I am grateful for your contribution to the knife community. Sounds a bit cheesy but you deserved proper thanks🎉
I hope they sent flowers to your hospital room. You’re a brave man. 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Everyone always quotes it “Luke, new materials.”
But it’s actually “Yes. New materials.”
OK Spyderco we just found your new sprint run!!!
Because they've done every other 😂
Don't tempt them.
They have done everything else, just wait
(Dont own a spyderco yet, will buy a fancy one)
elastic ceramic Spydie Mule Team.....
But is it waterproof? And how about strength
waiting for sharpening video lol
Will come. Actually not harder or easier (depending how you look at it haha) than sharpening a steel knife. I will make a video about it for sure, and maybe Cedric & Ada will do too.
@@kknives_switzerland Really? Do regular aluminium oxide stones work or do you need diamond?
@@23Scadu only diamond will work. Because as a matter of fact, this stuff is as hard as aluminium oxide😅
Man I don't know if I am more impressed with the edge retention or you making all those cuts! Great stuff!
1. I want one !
2. Elastic ceramic , light as that , with out of this world cutting abilitys ,
ALIEN TECHNOLOGY !
3. Thanks for sharing , let us know when they are in production , and for sale , please :) .
Seriously that guy is going to be a freaking multi millionaire , when every chef on the planet hears about his new magic knife !!!
ELASTIC CERAMIC !?!??!
Twisted sisal rope, the new garden mulch.
2350 ! that's insane, thanks for taking your time doing this. Cheers from Argentina
Spoilers! Wow though...
I feel a little bit sorry for Pete's arm😄😂
This is revolutionary. No joke at all. Absolutely amazing.. I have a Miyabi Kaizen II Chef Knife, and this thing probably makes that thing obsolete. Only thing the Kaizen has over this is the beauty of the Damascus and wooden handle.
It's because of the kitchen knife geometry. It would be interesting to see other materials that have a high wear abrasion in this configuration.
@@westsenkovec he has done plenty of kitchen knife tests before. They do much much lower than this on average
@@westsenkovec Nah, this material is just crazy. Look at Kyocera or other regular ceramic knives, they chip so easily and their actual edge retention is worse than mid-range steels. This thing cuts almost twice as much rope as Rex121, all while being elastic and not chipping. You can't believe it until you try it, best 70 bucks I ever spent.
thats a revolution in knife industry!
I think so too.
@@kknives_switzerland Will the chef's knife be available when the online shop goes live? When the sell out, how often do you think you'll be able to restock? I don't even cook but this is so beyond exciting I want to purchase one at the end of the summer when I am able to make a lavish purchase.
I need one of these ! OMG. Awesome ! This ,and Advanced Knife Bro are the only knife channels I watch anymore,Thanks for continuing to pump out the content Pete !
I remember back in the 90's seeing a science show talk about nanotechnology being used to make flexible ceramics for more resilient knife blades. Seems like the future is now.
The future IS now!🤘🏻🤘🏻
When Petes mind is blown just like yours he don't know what to do. I'm still over here like what did I just watch?! Was that some kind of sorcery? 😮 🤷♂️
😎
@@kknives_switzerland just subbed voodoo master I'm j/k! Your work is really something out of this world thank you!! 🤛
When one guy in a knife lab keeps up the sales of twisted sisal rope for a whole continent ^^
That's some trippy material.
This material will change the world of cutlery.
I think so too.
Pete i can only imagine what people are going to think about how built your 1 arm is compared to the other. That is an amazing blade material.
A lot of us have the one overdeveloped arm problem after all the lockdowns, should blend right in 😆
So much awesome here. Thanks for all your time!
Pete!! I just got back into knives after a few years. Your Google Doc is MINDBLOWING! What a massive, massive real-world blanket test! Fantastic for setting realistic expectations versus betting on theoretical info. Some of the variations blew me away
Insanity. Rest that arm young lad. Thank you for all your incredible contributions my friend. Have a great day pete.
The BALLS on this man! To nonchalantly wave a thing that can easily split the atoms in the air! YOU MAD LAD! But your wearing your glasses for proper eye protection, so you should be good...
Pretty amazing how well that edge held up, but even more amazing is that your arm held up!
I just want to say I invested in rope stock 2 years ago and you have made me a very wealthy man. Thank you 🍻
That's nothing short of amazing!!!! If that price point holds, every kitchen will have them.awesome!
That is CRAZY AWESOME Result 🏆 THANKS Pete
Just placed an order. Looking forward to trying it for myself. Thanks for the heads up. ✌
That's bad ass, I was waiting to see what you got with this one Roman sent.
Wow... Thanks for taking the trouble and showcasing this!
Yep definitely will be getting one of these monsters, that is an insane edge. Brilliant work.
What I find even more crazy than all this, is how affordable these knives are. Shipping is a lot if you don't live in the EU, but they are way more affordable than I expected.
Smaller knives in this material would make a great SHTF skinning knives.
That's fuggin cool!!, thanks for all you do Peter, looking forward to hearing more about this stuff......although I appreciate the just standard steel stuff just a bit more.
I like the floating numbers.
It is a very exciting point in the history of the knife world! I love it.
I have trouble sleeping at night, because I'm so excited - wait until my next videos drop ✌🏻
@@kknives_switzerland I know this feeling.
Yes, I wait. I am excited.
Ceramic, the final frontier.. These are the voyages of the spaceship Cedric & Ada. Boldly cutting rope longer than any man has cut before..
The future is now😎
Wow. I think they almost broke Pete. Thanks!! For the video
in this episode: Pete finally regrets his testing methods...
Knackered watching👍
wow .... what a video. Cant wait to see more of this stuff
Stay tuned🤜🏻
Finally, we have a conversion ratio from rope to tomatoes. If 2350 cuts of sisal rope are equivalent to 100,000 cuts of cherry tomatoes, we can then assume that 1 cut of sisal rope is roughly equivalent to 42.5 tomatoes. We can then use this to convert each and every steel from previous cut tests to find out exactly how many tomatoes each steel will cut until they no longer slice paper.
I actually was thinking about the same. Is it really the same as 42tomatoes? Do tomatoes contain silicates? If so, how much? Questions that will keep me awake tonight...
But how many papers can you cut, before it’s no longer slicing tomatoes?
1:06-1:07 you can't even see the blade! Great job Roman!
Holy shit I bet that thing slices well.
Yes. New materials.
2350 is about the year I'd expect this steel to be developed. What a fantastic material.
Favorite channel by far. Keep up the good work my good man. Respect! 😎🤘🏻🇨🇦
WOW. Knife technology is getting pretty badass.
yes.
new
materials
I'm glad you said something 'cause I couldn't tell if that was Ada or a chicken in the background at the end there.
cant wait till these are on the market.
Thanks for showing me my next knife.
This knife it's secretly made by those who sell twisted sisal rope
Darn, my cover is blown.😂
@@kknives_switzerland Lol! :-D
“YES. NEW MATERIALS.” So much yes.
The record WAS the Sandrin at 1540 yes; but it wasn't Rex121, it was Tungsten Carbide. 👌🏻
Just received my 140mm petty from Rahven. Works a treat! Floats on air. 43 grams or 1.5 Oz. ✌
Glad you are happy with it!
Pretty insane edge retention for sure
The knife world goes... CRAZY!
Wow, just wow!
Crazy stuff! ... but I would not expect any less from Roman 😎👍
Holy cow. I was not expecting that.
The end of steel knives,,
I want one so much.. !!
Wow, this is insane!!
Super cool he sent on to you Pete. Just can't get my head around it.......
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Pete and family a blessed holiday season to you and great video looks like you found the unicorn what a beauty yep definitely sadistic you're chopping on that rope for thousands of cuts slices and dices thanks for introducing us all to this material cool stuff looks expensive definitely space age Jetson Star wars samurai stuff.
One of the first to order! Can't wait for mine to arrive! I also live in CH, so that helps!
Thank you for your order!
Amazing video!
These are exciting times we live in!
I've watched many of your edge retention cut tests and 2350 is absolutely bonkers! You must have been cutting for like an hour! Haha
That’s awesome! Would love to see a toughness or destruction test to see what can be done with this blade material.
Will come!
Pete speeds up the cutting footage but RUclips lets it play back at 0.25 so you can revel in it. #2350 #winning
Spyderco making a mule in it lol... this video fixing to blow up!
Holy shiitake mushrooms
I give you .....evolution in progress 👍🏻
INSANE
That is one really impressive knife. When will a version be available on the consumer market?
World hold on!!! 🙌🏼
That’s insane!
i'm in! i'd like to get on a list. the demand for these has got to be off the charts. i just bought a passel of new knives for the kitchen, and i am definitely knife poor now--but this is crazy good.
Online shop will be live in ~2weeks. 70-100USD per knife similar to the one in the video; depending on the shape.
That's fenomenal man, I can't believe it make mare than Rex121 and Rex45...
That is crazy i want one.
This stuff is insane !!
Yikes! I think it's safe to say that chefs will be throwing their Zwillingen knifes in the bin. Your hands must be hurting Pete. What an incredible edge retention. just as I thought I'd seen it all.
I love this channel 🙂👍🏻
Wow. It's like dreams come true :)
It’s like a new electric car and ppl will miss driving gasoline cars which is like steel knives.
Electric will never adequately replace gasoline. However, the electric car will save both the coal industry and strip mining.
Wow.. That's awesome..
Ohh, want! Especially at that price.
Amazing material . I'd love a kitchen knife made out of that stuff.Wondering about availability and price. When it eventually come's to market. Lets hope its not super expensive .game changer in the kitchen for shore. Would it be strong enough for heavy EDC .i wonder? Excellent video as always really enjoyed this one 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I/we offer these for 70-100usd. Online shop will be up within ~2weeks. It is in the same toughness range as CPM Rex-121. If that helps. So it definitely holds up to hard use, but it isn't a prybar. (If you want that, I'll sell you a Z-Tuff knife.) And to answer the potential next question: sharpening is as easy (or as hard, depending how you look at it, lol) as a steel knife. Will make a video on it soon. You basically need diamond lapping films on a squishy material like a mouse pad as backing and perform a stropping motion, using oil or WD40 as lubricant. These diamond films run for 8-10USD a pop and last suuuuper long. So the total sharpening setup will cost you less than 30USD.
@@kknives_switzerland Nice. I plan on ordering one of these amazing beauties. But what grits for the diamond sheets do you use to sharpen it? Thanks
The exchange rate for the Swiss Franc against the USD is really low right now so now would be the perfect time to pick one up.
Man... That's insane
Im all about that tune! My man!! 😂
If you woulda walked in my house when i was watching your vid. You woulda seen a 33 year old white dude jammin out in his boxers!!!!😂 Ooo good stuff🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
My heart was elated when I thought for an instant that I saw a brick. Could it be? But it turned out to be a square piece of garbage stacked against the shed wall.
I've noticed the recent content has surprisingly few talking bricks.
he’s back soon
Did someone say "Mew materials?" 🐱 That looked brutal. Ice down that flipper well.
Mind blown...I am not comprehending.....I am now looking at my shed full of knife making equipment and wondering what to do with it!
Spyderco has an upcoming Mule in this material. i'm hoping to get my hands on it.
So glad you're sitting at a more ergonomic angle. It pains me to see you make RSI's in time lapse. Would love to see you experiment with a known knife and try different tests to see what sort of results you get with different cutting mediums.
Lol you should start stuffing pillows with all those cut ropes and sell them as commemoratives with the knife
thank you for sacrificing your body for our enjoyment
