My Mom has had many UTI’s. I was told that it is a problem for the elderly. The nerves in the bladder are not working anymore, and so there is no pain. My husband and I live with my Mom. It is a different journey to be the caregiver for sure. It has brought me to the place of just resigning myself to minister and serve her as Jesus has left record that he did not come to be served, but to serve. Praying for you Sister. Pam

Those UTIs in older women are no joke. My mom, also, had several and one time it got so bad she was septic before they figured out that was the cause, because she had no symptoms except a low grade fever off and on. That was before her dementia was obvious. Later we would know she had an infection because of how she acted. It really does mess with their minds. On top of that they become resistant to antibiotics and they have to use more and more powerful antibiotics tailored to the specific bacteria. I wish they could find a better treatment.
At least now, I know the start of her symptoms and can understand why the doctor wanted to wait to call in something
