great interesting work, hard dusty work, but very interesting, you cant beat a father son team..good job.
Cheers Michael 🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
Interesting to see what beautiful brickwork was hiding behind this lot. Nice job and good advice for the DIYers. Coincidentally the Welderfabber channel guy visited the William Moore & Son tool store up north close to you lads. The Milwaukee section and choice was massive. I might try some of this kit. Thanks for the content this year and let's hope 2024 is good and you get that hip job done. Every time I see you suffering it reminds what a sad state of affairs our NHS is in. Stay positive and good luck.
Oh cool , we’ve been up for a visit too it’s an amazing place we were in there for ages 😍😍.
They are called Big red power tools on instagram🟥🤙🏾
Fingers crossed for the hip 😬🤞🏼🧱👍🏽
Excellent work

Quite a straight forward one for a change 😌😂🧱👍🏽
Hi guys. I hope you had a fantastic Christmas. Another fantastic video. I have watched all of your uploads and i have to say this is my favourite to date. So interesting seeing the old engineering and then how past meets present. Looks fantastic now!! Take care, stay safe and have a great New Year!! 👍👌
Thanks very much for the loyal support Gareth and same to you too 🧱👍🏽🙏🏽
Lovely job lads keep up the good work and keep those videos coming.

Hi mate just sent a very small super thanks, I’m due two hip replacements this year and have been struggling over 7 years, I’m still working but almost unable to walk at times and bending down is hell, so I feel your pain
You do very well mate great you have your son with you , love your videos and good luck with the opp
Thanks very much pal that’s very kind .🙏🏽🙏🏽.
Best of luck with your op 🤞🏼🧱👍🏽
Lovely job guys……enjoy the rest of the year….relaxing I hope …! ❤
Cheers 😬🤞🏼🧱👍🏽
I've just uncovered a beautiful brick arch under the chimney in the cellar in my home which was covered in vile paint
Nice 🧱👍🏽
Top job boys 🎉
Thanks pal 🧱👍🏽
Thanks for a great year of videos . Nice to see the titan still in the mix with the fancy stuff . Happy new year
Same to you Alan 🤙🏾🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
Great job guys, nice and tidy. keep it up.
Cheers Gary 🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
Happy New Year Steve & Alex and the family 🎉
Thanks Malc same to you too pal 🥳🧱👍🏽
You made that look easy. Nice job 👍
Cheers Pete 🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
Father and son team beautiful.
👷🏽♂️👷🏽♂️❤️🧱👍🏽
Hi when you are cleaning the dust up use a watering can to dampened the dust down or use the vacuum cleaner.
Water turns the soot to a disgusting sludge which is twice as hard to clean up and we have 2 vacuum cleaners 🧱👍🏽
Love watching you guys. First class as always 🤛🤛
Cheers Karl 🙏🏽🧱👍🏽
Lovely job.
Cheers Nigel 🙏🏽🧱👍🏽
Great job as always from the boys. happy new year
Thanks pal same to you too 🥳🧱👍🏽
Great video guys.
I think you should change the last part of the title to, chimney breast alteration for a cooker. You’ll get more non subscribers who’ll search RUclips for the topic. I’ve seen soo many after images with the cooker in the chimney breast. I don’t think the vast majority of the population realise that it’s not a DIY job. Thanks for educating me 😊
Thanks for the tip 🙏🏽🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild you guys do a great job. 👌
Cheers pal 🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
A bit of a panic over Christmas kept in hospital had to have stents in my heart but ok now at least I has a nice dinner and someone else had to do the washing up.
A great video Steve, your right hand man Alex was right in there with you. This is unusual finishing a job in one video and not being held up by the weather!
Best regards as ever Ken
Glad to hear you’re on the mend Ken .
Happy new year 🧱👍🏽
So nice to see you guys actually 'enjoying' a job for a change! Instead of the Acrow Jungles and dungeons that you've had to put up with recently! Good to know the hip-op is imminent Steve, hope it goes as good as it can, going to miss the videos whilst you're recuperating - unless of course Al has a couple of jobs he can manage on his own? Wishing you and yours all the best for 2024, Health, Wealth and Happiness! Peace to all.
Thanks Dave , the op isn’t imminent all we know is I’m on the list and the doctors strike for 5 days next week so who knows when the op will be put back to . All I know is I’m struggling but have to work which just makes me worse .
Things can only get better ( I hope )
All the best to you too 🥳🧱👍🏽
Thank you for getting back to me Steve - really sorry to hear that the op is not yet scheduled, bugger eh! I just hope you can get it done soon, you've been suffering for so long now. Me saying 'Take it easy' doesn't help either, sorry about that. Keep safe you two.@@SteveAndAlexBuild
@davecleggett9371 Thanks Dave . Al is in Sweden till the 8 th so making the most of the down time to rest 🧱🧱👍🏽
Great video as usual Happy new year to you both xx
Thanks Mick . Same to you 🙏🏽🧱👍🏽🥳
Well that was more complex than appeared at the outset. Many a DIY'er would have looked at the job when the wife said "let's open the chimney breast" and replied, no problem I'll have it done in no time. My guess is that most would have freaked out and done a bodge and cover up. It's a good job you know what you are doing. Best wishes for your hip job and don't even think about going back to work until they say you can.
Thanks pal very complex indeed . I won’t be rushing back 🧱👍🏽
Awesome video thanks lads very much appreciated top job top team 🇬🇧 ajob done well 👍
Cheers Phil and happy new year pal 🙏🏽🧱👍🏽
Lovely job lads
Thanks pal 🧱👍🏽
Thanks
Thanks Nigel that is very kind . All the the best for new year 🙏🏽😍🧱👍🏽
Great to see those heavy duty machines doing lite work of a very difficult job well done you two. Just afoot note, we see a lot of your wonderful work but especially this one would it be possible to ask the client to let you take a vidio of the completely finished work. Looking forward to the next challenge All the B est for the New Year.
Cheers Bernie .
It’s rare we get back before the jobs are fully completed and our video are generally out already 🧱👍🏽
Just wondering about extract for cooker ?
🤷🏼♂️
I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully they don't try drilling a big hole through one of the lintels.....which is something I would do!!
😳🤣🧱👍🏽
Hi alex out of a matter of interest what will you be up to when dads out of action with his hip not bei g nosey just wandering 😊
A few small jobs planned 🧱👍🏽
Good job lads, steve looks like you need that hip op doing
Desperately 😔🧱👍🏽
Please click the like button guys.
🙏🏽👇🏾🧱👍🏽
Hi, this has been so helpful. Im wanting the same doing in my kitchen but struggling to find the right info.
Do I need to get a structural engineer out for this or would that be more if I was taking the full thing out ?
Do you do work in West Yorkshire ? 😅
We always recommend a structural engineer.
Sorry we don’t work over there 😬🧱👍🏽
Great job as always. The old brickies must have been very skilled to have built something like that chimney, I certainly learned a lot about the inside workings of a chimney from this video.
Does your saw not have a water feed in port to cool the blade and stop most of the dust?
This was a standard procedure back when all we had coal fires 🔥 so 2 nd nature to most brickies 🧱👍🏽👌🏼
Nice job lads.
Ta Richard 🧱👍🏽
🤣🤣Great job guys yet again
😏🧱👍🏽
Very neat fellas! Always a pleasure to see a job done right. As someone else mentioned, extraction?
Cheers Steve nothing to do with us 🧱👍🏽
Great job All the best for the New Year
Cheers Steve same to you too 🙌🏽🧱👍🏽🥳
The kink in a chimney flue… a witches bend, stops them getting down the flue… but Father Christmas is smarter
🤣🤣
🧙😤
🎅🏽😌
😂😂🧱👍🏽
Another top quality job as a landscaper and do a lot of brick work I still wouldn't tackle taking walls down putting lentils in would scare the life out of me
Cheers, we do loads of lintels and these were nice straight forward ones 🧱👍🏽
@SteveAndAlexBuild that's why your the experts time served craftsmen
@robdixon786 cheers 🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
I’ve got two hips and they are the best things since sliced bread, I can’t say the same for my false knee. Good luck pal.
Thanks John, I’ve heard a lot of knee problems 😔🧱👍🏽
Will the stove have an exhaust vent?
No idea I’m afraid 😬🧱👍🏽
Should the remainder of the stack be vented in some way ?
You usually fit a grill in the blocked off fireplace so I assume the same applies here.
Nice job.
I wouldn't fancy a grill venting a disgusting sooty chimney smell into my kitchen 🤢🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild haha good one.
🧱👍🏽
Nice job..your plumbing must be sturdy to cope with washing all thd muck off after these jobs!😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild your poor wife!!!
She is a star 🌟 😍😍
Funnily enough I am planning to do this myselfg as a DIYer.... ;)
Good luck 😳🧱👍🏽
@martin2466 🤣🤣🧱👍🏽
Really interesting to see the amount of ‘hidden’ brickwork that constitutes a chimney breast. Had the customer wanted the entire chimney brickwork ( up to ceiling height) removed in that GROUND floor only what would be the principles of securing the brickwork in the rooms above? Would the joists have to be modified and strengthened? Many thanks for sharing your skills and knowledge!
Thanks Jeff . A job for a structural engineer for sure 😬🧱👍🏽
Most grateful for the reply Steve & Alex. I anticipated your response. We have a double chimney breast (back to back ) in adjoining rooms. A number of years ago, a bricklayer friend performed exactly the procedure you carried out in the video in one of the rooms. Presumably, the same strategy could be used in the neighbouring room given the sides of the breast there remain as originally constructed. We’ve often contemplated the complete removal of both chimney breasts which would free up a lot of space but as you quite rightly pointed out consulting a structural engineer would be a necessity. Thanks again!!!
If you took everything down including the stacks then no need for an engineer. Just a lot of making good 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
Congratulations on your 40k, Dirty work chimneys, call for cool 🍺 boy's, Hope you have a change of clothes for the works van, Notting worse than soot in the front cab/Office 😜
Cheers Joe yeah dirty job 😳🧱👍🏽
Bet you put most of that rubble dust down the missing floorboards pal 😂
🤨🤨🧱👍🏽
i done a lot of loft conversions you looked like you had been downs the pits all day lol
😷😂😂🧱👍🏽
👍👏
🙌🏽🧱👍🏽
Lucy only said the other day about knocking out a double breast in my house Steve .Managed to talk her out of it for now 🤣.nice job and planning as always mate 👍
Don’t be mean Justin we will do it for you 😉🤣🧱👍🏽
@SteveAndAlexBuild
Rather you than me i did one years ago was a real challenge Steve .At least your in the dry doing that kind of work .Good luck to all of u in the new year 👍💛
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping Yep we felt very smug while it poured down outside 😌.
Happy new ( dryer ) year for you , the lads and the family 🥳😍🧱👍🏽
I thought you were widing the chimney for Santa Clause, then you blocked it up with the 3 lentils. Now what’s Santa going to do. I thought this was Bricklaying with Steve and Alex not Chimney Blocking with Ebenezer Scrooge and Son. 😂😂Cheers mates
Customer is on the naughty list 😏😂🧱👍🏽
Why are you using corded drills if the Milwaukee battery system is so good
We explained it in the video
Them jobs a bogging good job lads under the circumstances
🤙🏾🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
I've got to remove 2 chimney breasts on 2 floors at my renovation 🤦🏻♂️🤪.
Best of luck and take care . If in doubt get a structural engineer to check it out 🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild yeah definitely, happy new year both 👍🏽
@leejenkins6495 you too 🥳🧱👍🏽
I can 'smell' the soot!
I still can too 🤥😆🧱👍🏽
is there anything you guys cant do
I can’t put me socks on any more or tie my shoe laces 😔😔🧱👍🏽
Dun a lot of chimney guts in my time, not a nice job,
Definitely not , only good for getting out of the rain 🌧️ 🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
Good job menNot the best of jobs them ones 👍🏻🧱🧱🧱🧱
Kept us out the rain 🌧️ 😉🧱👍🏽
I hope the customer measured it right, I assume it's to be plastered, those bricks aren't nice for a feature wall.👍🧱
🧱👍🏽
Thanks
Massive thanks 🙏🏽 😍😍🧱👍🏽
