It's interesting that you talk about extroverted judging functions as "wanting to control the environment" because I have Ni first, Fe second, and I find that I often want to "know someone very well" as part of my desire to connect and engage effectively with them, and there are times where that can "feel like 'wanting to merge"
I have the same function stack and I relate completely to what you’ve said. It’s interesting to see such a core part of who I am articulated so well by someone else. :)
This is so interesting and one of the clearest explanations I've seen so far. I think I'm INFP and I relate so much to Amanda's examples. Yes, I follow rabbit holes of tangentially connected ideas, and yes, everyone think I'm weird when I try to explain how I went from seeing a duck in a city pond to thinking about vending machines on Mount Fuji.
19:04 That’s very interesting because you are describing Ne-Si on an axis. You’re moving furniture not because it looks good, but because it’s the most practical for YOU (Si). And once you find that practicality/stability in the physical, THAT makes it easier for you to generate more ideas for the future (Ne.) Is it safe to say that while Ne generates the idea, their Si finds comfort in the physical? The “should be” in the physical? 🤔
I am an Entp - CPB/S I like discussing ideas and I appreciate being shown the holes in my ideas, because it allows me to explore and find solutions for the holes.
i feel like (at least with Ne and facts) it heavily depends on your other function. if you have Fi with Ne, youre going to feel a lot more stuck by facts. Fi is personal authenticity so a contrary fact has a negative impact on your emotional framework. if you have Ti (eg i am intp). i love facts and i dont see how a fact will box me in. facts to me expand my knowledge and create new possibilities. so i think when talking about isolated functions and how they manifest its important to state why they manifest that way. (i know you mentioned it at the start) but many people will hear the statement 'Ne doesnt like facts because it boxes them in' and then get confused because everyone uses facts differently. Also there are many great athletes who use Ne. theoretically Se is better for it but the creativity part of sports is something Ne can get into because you can always add ideas to do sports differently.
ur videos really help me a lot! I have a channel where I talk about MBTI and now I’m trying to do the same videos but in english. I think you explain everything in such a simple way that the base of my vocabulary is your channel. I don’t know how to thank u for that (it’s a help that u don’t image how important that is to me)
Aww, I feel a little bad now, I bet I gave you false hope for an ISFP to add to your studies & it was probably such a disappointment when I actually typed as an INFP. I'm sorry if that happened, if it helps to know your guidance during my type confirmation process really did mean the world to me & has opened my mind up to a whole new realm of exploration I hadn't yet considered but am supurrr excited about. I sincerely hope you gals succeed in your mission to change the world through typeology, I honestly believe you're on to something here & whole-heartedly support your endeavor. Take Care Meow! 😸
8:12 that’s my ENFP wife in a nutshell, too! The idea of a hobby/thing is more important than the hobby/thing itself. Whereas I, an Se dom, HAVE TO partake in the hobby or thing.
At 28min you are talking about how Ne users don't like to be hindered in brainstorming by facts and practicalities, instead wanting to dream and associate freely. But this is a Se perspective (ESTP) on that: my time and attention is precious and important to me, so by bringing up options that aren't "real" options, you are basically wasting a very important, if not most important resource that could be utilized soooo much better. It's a thing which we Se users have in common with Te users. We make ideas that we actually are going to act on, so it has to be a feasible idea, because if not, we will waste even more time, attention, resources, money etc. If it turns out not to be possible halfway through.
I feel like the remark about "routine" narrowing the range of possibilities until life becomes "too certain" and the world becomes too "small" can also apply to Ni.
Oh see when they ask me what I'm thinking, I tell them, and then tell them the entire Ne journey that took me there. No wonder ppl think I'm so weird lol
Me, ESFP: “now what.” My wife, ENFP: “why?” That’s a huge distinction between Se and Ne with the same middle functions. I love your videos so much- really well done!
23:50 yep, as an ESFP I cannot handle the idea of being micromanaged. I have to have control of my minute-to-minute actions, and need the ability to physically move around. Covid has been awful for Se dom types 😖
I have definitely met Sensing primaries who tested as (and thought they were) Intuitive primary. In some ways I wonder if it's partly because both are extroverted, either focusing on what multiple people want vs focusing on what multiple people are experiencing (but still often in terms of "is everyone having a good/fun experience?")
Hey there, yes this happens often with Se doms who are also enneagram 7s (like me), because the optimism that comes with enneagram 7 is really alike with the future orientedness of Ne, even if you are Se, so you are going to answer all the Ne questions with yes, as well as the Se questions.
I've often heard that Ne is the skill of "what other people want/desire" but in this video it sounds like you're describing Ne as still "what I want" but it's "many things that are wanted equally" in contrast with Ni singling out "1 thing I want." If that's true, then what would you say is the primary skill that leads to someone "focusing on what other people want?"
Thanks for this video! It's definitely more detailed than the other vids I've watched on this. Also Jessie, why is your hand an orange tan? My guess is you got contouring cream on your hands since it matches the one on your face?
Does being very alert and aware of your surroundings and senses factor in as Se? I always thought I was an ENFP because I would test as one, but I am fairy present. I’m not a thrill-seeker and not very athletic, but I am constantly aware of things in my environment, have decent coordination (sometimes awkward), I can understand my surroundings intuitively without relying on maps, I am the first to react to sounds/occurrences in my environment. I compare this to someone leading with N who seems to be less aware of the environment overall, and less interested in reacting with it in the moment. For example, when I travel I want to see and do all the things, but my husband is happy soaking up a few small experiences.
This is a super late comment, but I think it’s easier to answer the question from the ENFP perspective, rather than the ESFP perspective. Are you stimulated by new ideas and theories that may never happen? Do you often go on tangents in your conversation? Do you open hundreds of tabs in a browser because you got curious about one topic and kept going down the rabbit holes? Answering yes to these questions could mean you’re an ENFP. ENFPs can be very alert of surroundings and want to travel and see/do all the things (this second point could very much be Ne actually), which might make them come off as an ESFP. The difference is the though. What stimulates you more naturally? Ideas, or activity? Discussing a fun event, or actually partaking in it? Consuming new information, or acting on it? This is all Ne vs. Se.
@@Jonesy3461 what if you just have fifty plus tabs open because you're too lazy to close them. I Know im probably Fi, just sometimes torn between INFP and ISFP
Isn't it the SE/NI combination that makes me feel comfortable enough about what I'm actually doing (SE), repetitive or not, so that I can zone out and daydream (NI)? Is that the equivalent of NE/SI being so comfortable about something with an unknown outcome that their "zone out" is to start thinking about arranging furniture and such?
Question for Amanda, when you get the idea that's actually gonna happen, do you know really quickly? I think the ideas that are really different and I'm going to make happen, I know pretty quickly that this one is different and Te takes over... Oh maybe I answered my own question, that's why I know it's gonna happen cuz Te liked it

29:40 only took like 10 years to figure that out in my relationship with my ENFP. 😬
Se and Te Dom and parent is hard for me to be around lol!😂
