the story is that kevin conroy was making food for first responders in the wake of 9/11, which i think really shows just how much batman cheers people up in the darkest of times ❤
The abusive relationship of Harley and the Joker is one of those scarily real aspects of Batman: The Animated Series. Seen a lot of people, including one who had her arm broken, insist that the person who abused them loves them and their relationship is fine.
If you want a real strange experience, try playing "Batman: The Telltale Series". They actually reverse that dynamic. In that interpretation, Harley is the abuser and the Joker is the one hopelessly devoted to her. It's the strangest thing to see play out after years of knowing the animated versions of the characters.
The song "He Hit Me at it Felt like a Kiss" I believe was based on something an actual singer named Little Eva said. I don't know if this still happens, but at one time there were women who seemed to have genuinely believed a man beating them was a sign of how passionate he loved them. I think Little Eva said something like "He wouldn't have hit me if he wasn't scared of losing me, he's showing how much he needs me and fears being without me." Pretty twisted but some people are weird.
This story is based on Timm and Dini's comic book Mad Love, which won an Eisner Award for "Best Single Story" in 1994. When speaking of the then-upcoming book, Paul Dini would say "it's a story that we could never tell on the show. It's a little too sexy and a little too violent for the series."
@@thobat14 Yeah, it's surprising how much the censors let in. There's blood, there's Harley trying to turn on Joker (and in that outfit) and Joker pushing Harley out of the window like the domestic abuser he is. Quite heavy stuff for a "kid's cartoon"
The Mad Love was never between Joker & Harley, it was always between Joker & Batman. Until Harley learns & accept Joker never cared about her, she'll continue to be stuck in an abusive relationship. Glad you guys got to watch an incredible series. I hope y'all continue your journey in the DCAU after Superman
Before being adapted as an episode, "Mad Love" was pitched as a straight-to-video film. "A lot of people have asked us, 'When are you going to make Mad Love as either an animated episode, or a direct to video movie?' We did think about it." said Paul Dini, "We actually got some of the people in Home Video to look at it. But, ultimately, I don't think it's going to happen, and, more importantly, Bruce Timm and I have cooled on it. Bruce had a very good point early on, which is, 'It is what it is. It's a book.' [...] Batman is a secondary player in this. When you're doing a made for video release, you want a story where Batman and Bruce Wayne are more integral to the plot, more of the attention is on him."
The timing of this reaction series has coincided with so much BTAS-related news, most of it unfortunately sad news as more and more of the wonderful people who worked on this show have passed away in the last couple years. It’s been tough, but it honestly makes me glad that you guys reacted to the show when you did, since it gave us all an opportunity to honor and treasure the amazing work of all those lovely people week after week. I’m also glad that we’re moving on into Superman, and hopefully more DCAU stuff beyond, to keep the good nostalgia vibes going :)
Though "Batman: The Animated Series" is over, this isn't Bruce Wayne's last appearance in the DCAU. Until then, "May the floss be with you" Crew Blind Wave.
19:40 - This is the end of this show, but the story continues in Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, Superman: Braniac Attacks, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Batman: Mystery of the Batwomen, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. The later two are technically in a different universe, but both feature Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly reprising their Superman and Batman roles.
@@thobat14 Yeah, looking up Kevin Conroy on Wiki, I forgot these: - Justice League: Doom - Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox - Batman: Assault on Arkham - Batman Vs. Robin - Batman: The Killing Joke - Batman and Harley Quinn - Justice League Vs. The Fatal Five - Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Three (Earth 12 Batman). However most of the movies are not technically the same universe as BTAS, STAS, BB, JL, and JLU.
It wasn't included in the video, but there's a moment where Harleen and Pamela make eye contact when the former was talking about being attracted to "extreme personalities". There's a fan theory (originating from a non-canon tie-in comic) that the Ivy in The New Batman Adventures is a clone due to her new look, despite the fact that all the characters were redesigned. But given that her cameo is during a flashback showing Quinn's origin story, which precedes much of the episodes of Batman TAS, it pretty much debunks that theory.
Spoilers I can wait until they see the true finale to Batman and the DCAU. Ending with Terry and Batman celebrating his legacy is such a satisfying curtain call. The Ace scene was just so perfect to encapsulate that Batman is ultimately a light in the Darkness
@@roxtechs I think that’s the literal end last episode but for me the emotional rap up is that Terry episode. We started with the Batman and we end his legacy there.
Even though it came out years later there is also the animated film Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman which takes place after the show. And there is also the short film Catwoman: Chase Me.
Gotta love the hypocrisy\irony of Joker saying the death of Batman must be perfect and that he can't just shoot him, but what does he do when Harley gave him the chance? Just try shooting him point blank
It’s even better in the original comic. There, during the scene where Joker is riffling through plans, she suggests just shooting him, and the Joker flips out. He yells at her that that isn’t a “supervillain” sort of plan and belittles her. Then, when is just him and Batman, he reveals how much of a narcissist he is by pulling the gun, because there’s no audience to play to.
I'm an over the road truck driver! This has been a strong touchstone for my Saturday morning cartoon memory banks. ❤ Thank you! And I'm loving StAS! 👍🏿
I know that you guys are starting the Superman animated series now, but are you guys going to watch the animated movie Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman? It is tied to the Batman animated series and is a fun movie, so it would be cool if you guys eventually check it out here on the channel.
I was so excited when you started this journey - three years later and I’ve changed jobs and moved houses but these reactions have been a constant ❤️ I’ve bought Superman TAS on Blu-ray so I can carry on the party for more years to come!
You're the first reactors I've seen to make it through all of Batman: The Animated Series, and I gotta say, loved getting to experience this journey with you guys, and I'm hoping Superman can give you a similar experience.
Well we reached the end of Batman TAS Reactions, gosh i really enjoyed every single moment in these reactions, sad to see it end. No matter because at least we got superman tas reactions
@BlindWave Now you guys need to watch _'The Brave and the Bold'_ with Diedrich Bader as Batman. I think the show deserves more appreciation. It definitely catered to those of us who read the comic books in the 60s & 70s and watched the Adam West television show. I would definitely like to hear the comments about TB&B's final episode. The final bit of dialogue was certainly unexpected, but welcomed, by me.
This has definitely been a fun part of my Saturday routine, had fun, loved any episode with the great female characters in this series; great nostalgia from my childhood. So glad you’ve continued the party with Superman Saturdays!
Excerpts from this were used in Arkham Asylum's Harley Quinn interviews. The image of Joker knocking Harley out of the building and her STILL believing it's her fault is burned into my retinas. I first saw it when I was little and I was under the impression I was watching something important but I didn't know what it was.
Ending things off on a high note! It's been real fun watching you guys react to this legendary series! I hope you guys will react to Batman Beyond sometime soon. It takes place several years into the future of this series, and continues a lot of the stories of these versions of Batman and his rogues!
There's nothing that makes me both feel old, and showcases how quickly the years go by quite like the Blind Wave youtube channel. I remember when they dropped the first episode of Batman the Animated Series, and I was like "Oh sweet. Now I can can watch Lost when I'm having my dinner, and this when I'm having my supper."
Hard to believe the last episode. You know this story line was first used in the comic animated adventures, but the story was so good, they decided to animate it. This was one of my favorites of Harely's origin and was retold a bit between the Arkham games. The other was after the New 52 universe, in order to earn Joker's trust, she was ordered by him to jump in the chemical bath and she willingly did it to become just like him, bleached white and all, which explains her current look in the comics in why she never removes her make-up, because it's not. This new origin was used again between the DC film verse and her mature animated series. While I'm glad your doing the Superman animated series now, I'm guessing later it's Batman Beyond and Justice League. Static Shock can be anytime and the Zeta Project, while underrated, still worth a watch but best to do it when watching the Beyond series since he makes his first appearance on that show, though very different design, mostly the head!
Holy crap! A little hard to believe that you've finally finished this one😄Certainly won't be the last we'll see of Bats though, he'll be showing up through Superman, Justice League, and of course... Batman Beyond
You NAILED it! The secret to why Batman's laugh is chilling is that theres no mirth in it. He's just making the sounds. Joker on the other hand is having the time of his life.
Arguably the darkest episode and that's saying something for this show. I remember the first time I watched it and it really bothered me. Exploring the sinister nature of perhaps the most abusive relationship in fiction. I'm really glad you guys watched the entire series. It's still my favorite iteration of Batman in the entire ethos.
Amazing episode and an amazing book. I highly recommend reading the Mad Love comic. It's one to one the episode, but they don't have to worry about censorship. It's been an amazing ride
The Joker's "may the floss be with you", joke, is rather funny, because Mark Hamill's wife used to be a dental hygienist (if i remember correctly), and i always had the feeling (and suspicion) there would have been a lot of floss jokes in that relation, which i guess, this joke would (and could) probably have been one of them.
You really need to check out Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker for the true end of the series! I'm glad you're doing Superman, but you should also consider My Adventures With Superman and Batman Caped Crusader.
There is an movie still set in this series called Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman (2003) that takes place after the series ends that you guys should definitely react to. I loved watching it as a kid and its still pretty decent today and relevant to the show.
I was there at the beginning and now I get to see how it ends. I watched every single reaction. Thanks for the BTAS run Blindwave, now I'm hoping for a Batman Beyond run in the not too distant future. Side note: I hated the redesign even though later I understood why but still hated it and Mad Love is one of the most memorable episodes of any Batman TV show and it was a hell of a way to send the show off. Already enjoying the SuperTAS reactions.
you know I sometimes imagine that what Harley met was; Was puddin so thrilled that he could Harley speak. Joker: HARLEY To me that would’ve been a funny joke
Fantastic episode to end on. This has been a great trip down memory lane with a new perspective. The series created a lot of fantastic new characters and concepts, but Harley Quinn may well be its best, even if we end things here with horrible abuse for her. The reason why they don't let psychiatrists talk to the Joker any more. My favorite episode overall is probably Trial or Almost Got 'Im Hope you keep going with Batman Beyond and Justice League!

I really hope they watch Batman Beyond and Batman Beyond The Return Of The Joker movie after Superman TAS. I thought BTAS was UNTOUCHABLE for me, until I watched Batman Beyond. Such a fantastic show, but it could just be because I’m more of Terry than Bruce. I ain’t rich 😭.
so the dr. quinzel in the arkham series and margot robbie's suicide squad version weren't too far off in their portrayal. a lot of harley quinn's backstory is pretty consistent from btas.
Aw, all done Batman TAS and the Batman TAS movies. Now they only have the rest of Superman TAS, then Batman Beyond, The Zeta Project, Gotham Girls, Static Shock, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, Superman: Brainiac Attacks, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited and Justice League Vs Fatal Five. We're practically at the end...
And so we come to the end of 1 of the greatest shows of all time but it’s only part of the best set of shows. We’re in Superman at the moment and we’ll hopefully have JL, JLU and Batman Beyond after Superman and who knows maybe throwing in Green Lantern there as well
This is maybe my favorite episode of the New Batman Adventures. The look into Harley's back story was neat. (Although the innuendo and violence was maybe a tad too much for a cartoon on like WB Kids.) Although "Over the Edge" is very good too. I'm a bit mixed on TNBA, but they did produce a few gems.
I think it’ll be best if it takes them a long time to get there. Having that to cap off the DCAU would be perfect. Although ending with JLU is good too.
Thank you so much for watching one of the greatest animated series of all time with us! We will miss our Saturday BATMAN TIME with you all!

I hope they get to Batman Beyond!!!
You really need to check out Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker for the true end of the series! I'm glad you're doing Superman, but you should also consider My Adventures With Superman and Batman Caped Crusader.
Companies that install glass in Gotham city must be making absolute bank
OMG. I think they changed the line: "Don't you want to -rev up- _ride_ your Harley?"
Joker: HARLEY
To me that would’ve been a funny joke
I know it will a year for them to Finish Superman the animated series. But can't wait for Batman Beyond reaction.
Love Kevin Conroy’s Batman! Hope you guys get to Batman Beyond one day 🤟🏻
Obviously, you're gonna continue with Batman Beyond and The Justice League, right?
Fantastic episode to end on. This has been a great trip down memory lane with a new perspective. The series created a lot of fantastic new characters and concepts, but Harley Quinn may well be its best, even if we end things here with horrible abuse for her. The reason why they don't let psychiatrists talk to the Joker any more. My favorite episode overall is probably Trial or Almost Got 'Im
Hope you keep going with Batman Beyond and Justice League!
Loved watching this with ya'll ugh love this show kinda wish it had a linear storyline like Superman or Static Shock does but still fun
You're not done. You need to go...Beyond
Alright now Batman beyond and justice league shows!
There's still the Mystery of the Batwoman movie.
I can not believe it is over just like that at least we have superman and we shall what will come after superman
Justice League or Batman Beyond hopefully.
@@WhiteFangofWar it make sense to do justice league first
0:55 - I hope they get to watch it to Justice League Unlimited one day. Even though it came out years later there is also the animated film Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman which takes place after the show. And there is also the short film Catwoman: Chase Me. Ah, we finally reach the finale of the Batman Animated series.
Well, except for the other finale. And the OTHER finale after that. I can not believe it is over just like that at least we have Superman and we shall what will come after Superman 1 replies @Ardomew Ending things off on a high note! It's been really fun watching you guys react to this legendary series! I hope you guys will react to Batman Beyond sometime soon. It takes place several years into the future of this series, and continues a lot of the stories of these versions of Batman and his rogues! I know that you guys are starting the Superman animated series now, but are you guys going to watch the animated movie Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman? It is tied to the Batman animated series and is a fun movie, so it would be cool if you guys eventually check it out here on the channel. Holy crap! A little hard to believe that you've finally finished this one certainly won't be the last we'll see of Bats though, he'll be showing up through Superman, Justice League, and of course... Batman Beyond if you guys reach Justice League Unlimited you will get more Creeper, just a little bit more of it I don't think I ever realized that Mad Love was the finale. Though I imagine it's only the finale in certain watch orders. I know the episode order is a mess. I was so excited when you started this journey - three years later I’ve changed jobs and moved houses but these reactions have been a constant I’ve bought Superman TAS on Blu-ray so I can carry on the party for more years to come! Well, we reached the end of Batman TAS Reactions, gosh I really enjoyed every single moment of these reactions, it was sad to see it end. No matter because at least we got Superman tas reactions It’s been a long time coming… and what a journey it was. thanks for keeping the Batman laugh I’m missing reacting to this show already. You really need to check out Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker for the true end of the series! I'm glad you're doing Superman, but you should also consider My Adventures With Superman and Batman Caped Crusader. Well after Superman, we need to react to Batman Beyond, and then the two Justice League animated shows!!! Loved watching this with you ugh love this show and kind of wish it had a linear storyline like Superman or Static Shock does but still fun Alright, now Batman Beyond and Justice League show! Are you guys not watching Mystery of Batwoman film because that pretty much was part of the animated series.

Love hot Harley calls Batman "B-Man" 😂
I really hope they watch Batman Beyond and Batman Beyond The Return Of The Joker movie after Superman TAS.
I thought BTAS was UNTOUCHABLE for me, until I watched Batman Beyond.
Such a fantastic show, but it could just be because I’m more of Terry than Bruce.
I ain’t rich 😭.
I don't recall seeing you guys react to "You Scratch My Back" episode
They have, it's 3x5
Enjoyed watching every episode again with you guys throughout the last 2 years was it?
It’s been a long time coming… and what a journey it was.
so the dr. quinzel in the arkham series and margot robbie's suicide squad version weren't too far off in their portrayal. a lot of harley quinn's backstory is pretty consistent from btas.
thanks for keeping the Batman laugh
Amazing animated series! I hope you guys watch Batman Beyond, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited!
We're practically at the end...
god damn it they better react to Batman Beyond next 😢
Are you guys not watching Mystery of Batwoman film because that pretty much was part of the animated series.
And so we come to the end of 1 of the greatest shows of all time but it’s only part of the best set of shows. We’re in Superman at the moment and we’ll hopefully have JL, JLU and Batman Beyond after Superman and who knows maybe throwing in Green Lantern there as well
Haha jokes on yous now its time for batman beyond continue the conroy legacy ❤
This is maybe my favorite episode of the New Batman Adventures. The look into Harley's back story was neat. (Although the innuendo and violence was maybe a tad too much for a cartoon on like WB Kids.) Although "Over the Edge" is very good too.
I'm a bit mixed on TNBA, but they did produce a few gems.
I would love to see you guys react to The Batman 2004 sometime in the future.
Me 2.
Next up: Batman Beyond!
Nope Superman won the poll they won't be doing it till 2025 or 2026.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO THE ENTIRE DCAU
the actual final episode was the judge/two face episode
you watched in airing order, not production
JLEAGUE and BATMAN BEYOND next after Superman
I know you are following this up with Superman but I really hope you include the Justice League series
Surely you watch Batman Beyond next
Now we wait until they finally get to Batman Beyond and the movie.
I think it’ll be best if it takes them a long time to get there. Having that to cap off the DCAU would be perfect. Although ending with JLU is good too.
sinc freakazoid was based on the creeper you did kind of get more.
You should also take a look at Justice League and Justice League Unlimited after you finish Superman TAS
Hope you guys play batman arkham series
Nostalgia Critic brought me here
React to Batman Vs Dracula movie next ❤❤❤
That's a different series and Batman Actor.
@@sandeepmahal-kp5em I know but it's just my movie suggestion
Hope they move on to Batman Beyond and then the movie, and then finally JUSTICE LEAGUE!
Justice League Animated Series/Unlimited should be next.
So I know your already on Superman which is actually a good next series but after that I'd either hit Batman Beyond or Justice League
Do Justice League after superman
So are you going to do Batman Beyond Next?
superman was what replaced this series
this episode feels very tim burton at times, moreso then most other episodes
Maybe it's the defenestration.
