The Thing I loved about this episode is that despite Bat's being Croc was him playing a role, there probably is a good chance of Bruce thinking that of all these elaborate schemes, Croc throwing a big Rock at him was the most lethal out of all of them

If you pay attention to the details of the Poker game, they each play up their personalities. Harvey's got the 2s (and also only pairs), Joker has an ace up his sleeve (and cheats the entire time), and while we don't see the others hands, we do see their personalities play out as Penguin has a teapot and pours his like a British person would because he likes his fake British Mafia vibe lol
It’s more like Oswald is from Boston. Think of Major Charles Winchester from MASH. He’s not British but comes from good stock in Boston. Kinda a trope to write rich people from Chesapeake Bay. A short trip to Gotham, N.J.
Pengy's 'British gangster' accent did not exist before the Arkham games, and certainly wasn't current around 1995, when these episodes were made: Pengy historically wants to be a gentleman again (or for the first time, his family were never mentioned in the original comics until the second Michael Keaton as Batman movie), and US comics writers and filmmakers tend to have him do the superficial 'gentleman' things. He's effectively Al Capone, who was short, wore tailored suits, spats, evening dress and kept his sleazy hotel (a sleazy hotel just across the street from Police Headquarters I might add) with no heat as he was a cheapskate as well.
Killer Croc/Batman : I don't think so The villains: 🤯 Batman's silhouette appears over killer Croc 🦇🦇🦇 This is still one of the best twist to a show I've seen 🔥
'Bah! Just because you mundane miscreants have no DRAMA in your souls...!!!' - best line from the best BTAS episode for me (although Harley's Holiday comes very close, yes...?).
Best episode? Best episode. Ensemble pieces tend to excel in this show and this is no exception, and each villain gets a chance to shine. Great expressions on everyone too, while the soundtrack invokes a smoky jazz club atmosphere. Whose story was your favorite?
In Snyder and Capullo’s Batman story Zero Year, Batman heavily relies on his disguise skills. It’s an amazing entry level story to the New 52 and Batman in general. Pretty sure The Batman was also heavily inspired by it
I love how the giant penny returns here and there. In a justice league episode Flash uses it to crush a pair of Thanagarian invaders, and I think it popped up in Batman Beyond too
The 1960s tv series has a lot of episodes where characters are disguised as someone else, and not just Batman. Penguin, Joker, Riddler, Catwoman... even Alfred gets to pretend to be a different person.
Batman Brave and the Bold the series has a real good Bruce is disguise moment. I think Tell Tale's game had one but a lot of Batman stuff forgets he does actual detective work. I would have to think if we get that from the animated films, where else we see it, I think Batman 66 did a few disguise episodes.
Thud might be my favourite episode of the entire series, despite how many incredible episodes there are, the image of just seeing some of Batman's most infamous villains reminisce about how they all almost took down Batman is such a surreal look into these characters, also nice that it connects to another story with feeling tacked on. BTW Meg I was wondering if you are going to continue with your reactions to Superman The Animated Series, because I've really been enjoying those reactions along with your Batman ones as well.
One of the greatest episodes of all time. The villains insulting each other and Killer Croc’s “I threw a rock at him!” is hilarious. I think this episode is just so brilliant like it’s a classic Batman story and the twist at the end was awesome, he’s very smart impersonating someone as dim witted as Killer Croc and his Almost Got ‘Im story is very believable because it’s something Croc would do! You have to remember Batman is a master detective and has studied all its forms including impersonation. Like he’s been fighting and studying his villains for years so it would be easy for him to impersonate one of them and play the part perfectly
Hello Meg and welcome back. What would Batman be without his Villains. Penguin, Joker, Harley, Two Face, Croc, Mr.Freeze, Ivy and (the sometimes Friend sometimes Enemy) Catwoman. One of my all time favorite episodes the White House Batman disguises himself as Killer Croc amazing he is a man of many talents. I THREW A ROCK AT HIM!! 😂😂😂 it was a big rock 😂😂😂
What's cool about Croc's robot theory is that, although it played after this, "Heart of Steel" was finished before this, and leads into the later "His Silicon Soul".
