NOTE: If you guys want to replace skies in the thumbnail. Don't do all that mask and stuff rather you can use the "sky replacement" option that is available in Adobe Photoshop 2021 and above. I've been creating thumbnails using that feature and it works like a charm. You can also add your custom skies. And btw, thank you for such an in-depth guide rock. That shift paint thing to draw a straight line isn't working for me on Mac it used to but all the sudden it isn't and I dont know why or how to fix it... also is there a similar feature on illustrator?

All the effects I used in photoshop are not photoshop specific and can be recreated using the two free programs I linked in the description. Photoshop is purely a convenience

You can select the text then expand the selection and fill with a colour on a layer below to add text stroke on gimp

You can find it on Adobe fonts. Just activate it and it should appear in photoshop for you. What time stamp are you referring to with text solid?

when i export it how do i make it so it is less than 2mb so i can use it as a thumbnail because it keeps saying is bigger than 2mb and i cant use it
you can export as jpeg and reduce the quality slider and the file size will go down
