The thing that haunted him was the fact that he never found “the other guy”??! Is he serious??! Not the facts that they sent 5 innocent boys to prison and stripped them from their childhood??? It was THE GUY. Not THE OTHER GUY! 😪

Great Lakes corruption, incompetence, lack of empathy-if Hollywood concocted this story, it would’ve been too good to be true. I mean, had this dude Reyes not step forward and admit to it, these brothers would’ve been buried under this mess!

@@mj8678 but there were prior victims and the DNA from this crime was in their possession. If they had this and ran a check to see if his DNA was in the database, even after he was arrested, they would have freed them sooner. So many people have been released because the right attorney came along and made them check that database.

@@onlyplayaseattacoswiththei9433 get real! Race matters and black women are not valued in America! Right before the Central Park jogger was raped and brutalized there was a black woman who was raped and thrown off a building. Was there a big search for her killer? No but Trisha Meili had a Manhunt because she was a white rich investment banker! Do you really think if she was a prostitute people would have cared? Her being a rich white woman is what made this case so important to the prosecution. You should look up the preppy killer and how he basically was had it on the back by Linda fairstein the same woman who prosecuted the Central Park five. Race May not matter to you but it matters to the people who have the ability to hurt others.

I would of questioned her "allegedly forgotten memory" how do you remember everything before the attack. She goes into detail about how the weather was and what she did that day. You cant remember what happen to you when the attack happen. That dont make any sense at all. I bet if you ask Korey who was brutally beaten multiply times about his attacks he would give you full details. I have no sympathy for her, why would you go jogging in the middle of the night with head phones. When she knew the at that time the park wasnt safe.

It’s unbelievable how they continue to believe these boys committed that crime without any physical evidence. You would think that teenage boys committing a horrible crime like that in the dark would leave so much evidence behind but there was only actual the rapist’s DNA all over.

What have we learned? Nothing good happens on city streets late night. You may recall a dude fined for jogging at 5:30AM... he was livid. Some of these parks have closed for the over night precisely to cut down on crime. I live in a small town- our parks close at sunset.

NYC is much much much much safer today than it was back then. Those of us who lived through that era sometimes feel like it was a dream or a movie how much crime ridden it used to be. Out of large cities it is now the safest. Not the same place at all. There were 2000 murders a year at that time... Now there are "only" 300.. One is too much - but this is certainly preferable.

Wasn't there a woman raped in NYC and thrown off a building around the same time as this one? Was there anyone wanting to round up people and brutalize them for their alleged crime against a woman? From what I recall, her case went relatively unnoticed...why? Not to diminish what happened to the jogger at all, her rape was horrific. But why were all these men not marching in the streets and seeking justice, ready to kill, for the lady thrown from a building?

Fact is - they may have been guilty of menacing and harassment (no evidence they hit or robbed anyone as some in the group did) - but that does NOT make them guilty of rape and attempted murder. There was NO EVIDENCE linking them and STILL they police and DA's office fight against the truth. It's sickening.

Wake up America, happens everyday. While all police are not bad, make no mistake about it, some officers are rotten to the core and should be themselves locked up. If all were good then why do they have internal affairs. We need to be more objective when we look at things as that could have easily been us who went through this ordeal. Take solace in the fact that what’s done in the darkness always comes to the light.

This is bullshit. They (the central park 5) beat up several people in that park that day. That woman was one of them, they beat her with a pipe and each took their turn getting on top of her and grinding on her but they were not able to (get it up). I guess out in the middle of central park with everyone of their friends' watching wasn't the best time. Most were under 16. After they finished, they beat her some more and rolled her down under high grass by the lake and left her for dead. They sent several people to the hospital that day. They called it "Wilding out". Later that other guy found her crawling up to the main walkway and raped her.
They were not cohusted when questioned. They all had family sitting in the same room watching everything. They were offered something to ear and drink, they all said no. It was a Black detective over the whole case and a Hispanic lady doing the questioning. They were released because the 16yr old went to Rutgers Island he eventually met the guy that actually raped her and became friends. The rapist at some point decided to take the rape for the young guy because he was in for life with no chance for parole. He confused to eventually which let them all out. I hope they are at least sending him cigarettes. I researched and found the original videos of the questioning. It was hard to watch because of the crime and because of the poor quality of videos back in the 80's but I stuck with it so I would know the truth.
Before you argue with me (which I welcome), make sure you do your research?

I hate to admit it because I want to see the good in people but it is sad that it still exists no matter how much I try to be positive about. I am a 37-year-old Hispanic who has worked in the oil and gas industry for 19 years, I would say about over 50% of the white people are generally racist towards Indian, Hispanic, or Black. They are usually in a position to exploit and degrade these individuals because our livelihood depends on how we take the crap from these people.

This has nothing to do with race in this day and age. Had a gang of white men been attacking people in a park and allegedly raped a woman, the legal treatment would be the same. They’d be seen as barbarians by the public. It’s ALWAYS about race ? Even now? THAT seems racist to me. It doesn’t matter your “race”....but it seems like everyone who “isn’t racist” sure talks about it a lot. That word and ideology should NOT be used as a weapon, generalization or excuse...then it becomes not a serious issue but the very thing it’s trying so desperately not to be.
