A fun fact about Battlesuits that was in the Farsight novels: they can also serve as dreadnoughts for either severely injured or dead Tau (through AI)
So how does the AI work?It scans and then simulates the mind of the dead Tau?It reanimates the body using specific electric impulses?

@@jhonnoilcringeincarnato8593 tell that to the Crypteks that developed the weapon that shattered the C’tan.
Funny Fact: Nanocrystalline Alloy is a real life thing, basically the smaller a Metals internal crystalline structure the better, smaller crystal grains make metals both tougher and harder.
The process of tempering steel is to reduce the crystalline structure. Nanocrystalline steels are really only just being developed (around the last years/decades).
The problem with metals with tinier crystal matrices is that they tend to be rather brittle.
Not necessarily.
What you're referring to is known as the Hall-Petch strengthening/grain boundary strengthening. With smaller grain sizes, the density of grain boundaries within a given volume increases and as such disrupt the motion of dislocations moving through the material. Heat treatments of metals is the most common method of altering grain size. However, once you go below a certain size threshold, the hardness and yield strength start to decrease, so its a balancing act of maintaining that range of grain size throughout the material.
What's really interesting is that this also applies to ceramics, especially refractory ceramics. Typically these are high hardness, low ductility, low fracture toughness materials, but nano crystalline/nanophase ceramics are tougher, more ductile and harder than their coarser grained versions.
Combining these two materials into a bulk nanocrystalline metal matrix composite or cermet would have very interesting applications in a wide variety of fields.

Fun fact
There is a T'au battlesuit addon that is reverse engineered from Orkoid gravity well tech, meaning, the T'au are so good at technology. They were able to make repulser fields for their battlesuits, from ork tech
Now if only the Tau can power their weapons like Orks. Ork weaponry is questionable but so questionable that a lot of their weapons shouldn't work but they do, it is thought that this is due to the Orks belief that it works.

One thing that was left out of this dex and will probably be in the FSE book is Fusion blades. Also, the prototype flamer that is also a melee weapon. Tau are adapting.
In 8th after PA, FSE crisis suits were actually somewhat of a threat in melee. Hope whatever supplement the FSE inevitably get will reflect this.
*Commander shadowsun teleports behind you*
“Nothing personal kid/clever girl”
At first, the Tau had 0 noteworthy close combat option (auxiliaries not counted).
But in recent years, they've developed several new and cool options and methods of using them. The Onager gauntlet, a Power Fist of enough power to give even Knight Power fists envy. The Fusion Blades, effectively the beam swords from anime coming to 40K. The new High Powered Flamer, that is a smaller version of the Fusion Blades.
For now, these are experimental variants that are restricted to commanders, but like other Tau weapons, they may eventually become available for the more common Battlesuit in the Empire.
Before you know it, the Tau will be using anime inspired Close Combat weapons and going toe to toe against the most deadly warriors in the galaxy in Close Combat.
All in the name of progress and the Greater Good.
@@Keemperor40K i dont think melee will become quite as mainstream unless its for specialised squads in fse. In main tau they will stay with commanders. Would love to be proven wrong though
@@carlzerris6566 we'll see come 10th ed, which is when we should be getting new options, as opposed to the rules rebalancing that was 9th ed.
Granted I don't expect to see crisis suits carrying melee weapons, but the point is that Tau have been given more melee options as the editions progress, so it is within the realm of possibility.
It would be cool if in future the Tau start experimenting with Warp Suppression technology. Which leads to the space in their empire being free from warp.
THey might be able to reverse engineer something if they get their hand on a necron pylon
@@raptorxrise5386 The most under written part about the Tau is how they dont actively try to steal or thieve for forbidden tech then reverse it and improve it.
@@gamingrex2930I read from another commenter that the Tau reverse-engineered gravitic technology from Orks, unfortunately no source was provided.
And aren’t they the only ones who use warp that manipulates space?
What I like about Tau battlesuits is that most of them have arms, but no hands. Instead you can actually mount some big guns on there like you are supposed to
I think they do have hands but they are folded into the arms. Or if not hands, basoc manipulators

Talk about mecha in Warhammer universe.
It makes me remember there is super robot universe that has overwhelming powerful mecha all time, anti-xenos campaign and same warhammer-like setting in far future after the story end.
Yep, Getter Robo saga.
I do find it adorable that the Tau think imperial titans are a myth and the fact they refuse to believe how big the Imperium of man truly is.
Funfact about the Tau and the Titans. In the Taros Campaign, a Warhound Scout Titan actually got head-shotted by Air Caste Tiger Shark Heavy Railgun, destroying the Titan and killing its crew. Bringing the Titan down with one shot causing the Imperial commanders to have the rest of the Titans withdraw from the battle as the Warhounds done their duty
Im more curious on how would the Tau react more to bigger titans like the Warlord, i doubt a Heavy Railguns would penetrate its void shield but it does make an interesting scenario
@@poserdragon719 if that happened and tau managed to get data back to command, my guess is they would modify a manta, strip out the cargo capacity and replace it with a bank of railguns that fire in quick succession in the hopes of taking advantage of a gap in a void shield
They USED to believe that. Then they encountered a few, killed at least one during the Taros campaign, and built the supremacy armor to deal with future threats. The empire sloooowly losing its naivete is one of my favorite parts of their lore.
@@Nukefandango wasnt the discovery of the smaller ones at the Taros campaign the kick start for the Tigershark?
It's been ages since that happened. They're not only aware of the existence of titans, but are actively making weapons capable of taking titans down. The AX-1-0 Tigershark and the Tau'nar Supremacy armours are just some of the examples, with more apparently in development.
If Belisarius Cawl gets his hands on a working Crysis or Riptide Mecha suite, he would probably wish he still had working genitals that could get aroused.
What the fuck is wrong with you gue'las? XD
He could still leak oil
How about a video about how the Tau handle Tyranids, orks and other races?
Mostly by avoiding direct conflict and picking up their fights just right
Like they are in some kind of stale mate with the imperium since there is a big fleet of tyranids in the close proximity to the tau sector so the imperium doesn’t want to exhaust his forces against the tau leaving himself exposed to the nids
The orks are easy target practice for the tau and they hadn’t met a real waaaagh yet, the orks also don’t like fighting the tau, they think they are boring (there was a story about a small ork waaaaagh that fell on a tau planet and while both were fighting the nids arrived, the ork forgot about the tau and started to fight the more entertainment enemy, the tau were slaughter by both factions once the waaagh actually heat up and the tau got caught in the crossfire, poor things didn’t know what eat them)
The nids are a big problem for the tau, I remember there was a story about the dark eldar about how they came to the aid of the tau (under a disguise of a mercenary fleet) and only thanks to their help were the tau able to repel the nids fleet in their doorstep (just to get raided by the eldar and have their civilian population stole from the planet)
They are really bad at dealing with the eldar, but I think they have come up on top a couple of times when they faced them head on
I don’t know about any encounter with the necrons, I suspect they wouldn’t do really well
@@PurpleH4z3 The Necrons never left any survivors to report back to the rest of the Tau about them.
i mean the imperium in terms of stompy boys also have imperial knights. those still have that whole catch of the machine choosing you and that you can die if grandpa throne boy doesn't think you showed enough respect but details XD

Someone compared the tau to the French, they usually run from a proper fight and stay back and shoot. This is false as the tau will actually fight the enemy while the French....are from France.
Great video thanks for showing more people the might of the greater good!
What's stranger is that France has one of the best War/Win records of any european power.... They get the 'run away' thing from WW1 and 2 but they were shoulder to shoulder with an enemy who used shock n awe from literally yards away.. Even wars they lost (Dien Bein Phu, which ridiculously led to the end of the Foreign Legion after a hold out of legendary proportions) showed the true mettle of the French army. England always slags off the French, yet England only exists because the French were a bullwark giving time for England to prepare.....

The Earthcaste already dimised suits that big as impractical. Thats why the Manta and Tigershark exist
@@carlzerris6566 they also thought that titans aren't real one way or another they're inevitably gonna end up making titans
The Ta'unar is currently the largest suit they have, and it is wholly capable of holding it's own against most titans (even more so because the Tau can actually produce them in numbers unlike the imperium).
But man, the Tau actually managing to make their own proper titan would be the raddest thing ever. And it would, understandably, be incredibly powerful. Specially if they reverse engineer things from the larger class titans the imperium employs, cause they'll not only recreate it, but make it better than the imperium ever could with their whole tech heresy problem going on.
Another good reason to make guilliman make a bullshit excuse to make someone able to construct new things
I like to imagine some alternate universe where humans and Tau design a robot that goes full Gundam, carrying lots of dakka and a lightsaber.
Doubt it but I wonder if we'll get a video on the Eight best pilots for mechas if you catch my drift.
Hell, the fuck, yes. Tau doinitrite
Also, theres a 3d printed tau spider titan out there. I may or may not have printed one...or three...in their full massive size... they sell em on ebay for like 300 bucks, but just buy a 3d printer for that kinda money and you'll get more dakka for your buck.
I kitbashed my own Tau Titan from initially a Lego Bionicle for a campaign we played, that thing is a beast, I called it the Tau Leviathan. I really enjoyed how it worked like an oversized crisis suit: move, attack, move unless it wanted to fire all its weapons at once than it wouldn't move at all. I envisioned this thing to turn into a spaceship when battle was over and fly back into the stars :P
I liked the old school minis of the broadside suit, true mecha style big guns on the shoulders.
A Imperial Knight will still poon them.
That’s pretty cool farside incorporated some earth caste into a combat role, I was gonna work a few different castes into my custom kill team, so I’m glad I’m on fluff there

Aren't the best mechs the titans? Or knights? Or dreadies?
The problem with Dreadies is that you need a severely destroyed Space Marine to pilot it, and the chassis tends to be irreplaceable due to the Imperium's technological stagnation. You may have the best 12/10 mech, but if you only have like two of them and can't properly replace and repair them, the enemy's 40 mass produced mechs that are 6/10 can still give them victory. Other Imperial mechs like Knights and Titans suffer similar issues, Humanity has lost the ability to produce or even fix some of them, whereas the Tau can make and improve new ones (however the size of the Tau empire and economy is still very small so technically the Imperium still has more mechs & materiel out of sheer scale).
