24 pieces of 5 Euro cent and some superglue did the trick also, should work with quarters or dimes in the US as well. Try putting down all 24 coins on the spots where the chess pieces go before playing, and if all is well the Centaur should recognize them. Try it out before you start to apply glue to your favorite chess pieces and stick dimes to their bottoms. Really enjoy the Centaur, won on my first play-through, but did give me a run for my money, and did not give up till the end. Great python programming at work.
I got the 1 inch foil dot stickers on Amazon Canada $10 not the same ones you had but they do work I have a bag full of plastic tournament pieces tried a few it detected them just fine. Now I have extra pieces if I ever need to promote pawns.

@@skymantechnology8329 unfortunately the reviews I read said stay away from the millineum brand . I was looking at the king performance. I'm not rated . been playing chess since 73 lol.. my first computer was ' Boris ' and I think it ran like 300 dollars in 1977 .
Like your good self I absolutely love this board. I used to play chess as a kid at school and I became the local school champion and like so many chess players you struggle to find someone to play with and it just died to death. I’ve had a number of chest computers that were either unbelievably easy or impossible to beat. Chest of fell by the wayside really. In 2018 I develop Sepsis and went through all the dying process but I wonderful NHS got me back but there was damage including the frontal part of my brain. I didn’t know where I live I didn’t recognise friends. Nothing it had all gone Overtime. There are bits there but it’s not like it used to be. I find I get quite a severe headache at the frontal part of the brain it’s like a pressure where the scarring is from the lack of blood and what blood there was was poisonous anyway so I decided to buy this chessboard after looking into it because I realised it played a little bit better Than I played. This meant the fact I was absolutely terrible and had to relearn how piece is moved I could correct it and relearn the game of chess is now the 19th of October 2024. I’m sat in my conservatory having a game of chess with this board. It’s amazing. I also found out that doing something I enjoy. I have approximately 27 minutes before I get a headache and the advantage of this board is I can just stop playing and return to it in an hour two hours or the next day a brilliant bit of kit just love it and if it broke tomorrow I would buy it again in an instant wouldn’t even give it a consideration and like yourself I bought some stickers and stuck them underneath a much better set love it. I'm sorry to hear about your condition. It's terrible having such health issues. I, too, have struggled with major health issues. I was on dialysis for 8 years before receiving a kidney transplant. I also had to undergo a 5 way heart bypass. I can relate to your situation, and this board has helped me get through tough times. I can just escape into a game. I have this monotone colored chess game! It's fun! But DGT should come out a more aesthetically color for the board and pieces! Like brown and Rosewood!
okay ok, if you put that sticker the DGT recognizes the pieces but only if they are in the correct order right?. In other words, if you put the pieces on the board wrong, the DGT recognizes them as if they were right? for example the rooks put the bishops and the DGT does not find out
Is a Centaur mod something you might attempt since you seem to be skilled with doing your own mods? I'm trying to find someone who shot a video, but all I can find is people filming "shorts" on youtube about it working, but they dont film the whole process. I got a centaur 2nd hand, and I'm really tempted after reading about all it can do after the mod....

…it appears nobody has done a video on just how to drill the hole(s) in the board after cutting the Centaur open, but from what I have read, it is an amazing mod….with some risk of course. Apparently , there are TWO versions of the Centaur; this will impact which software you use on the mod from what I understand….I have my drill sitting next to my second hand Centaur…just haven’t taken the plunge yet.
I know this thread is 2 years old, but I'll be getting the foil dots tomorrow. Do they stick directly over the felt, or do I need to removed the felt first? From what I can make out in the video, the felt stays on. Just wanting to make sure.

To be honest I haven't checked in some time. However, I would imagine there are better pieces available but not sure about the price. Sorry I couldn't be much assistance.

Hi, did you know , as long as your own chess pieces have some weight to them, you can use a foil dot or square as little as 5mm

Correct, it reads their position when you start the system and thus tracks the correct movement of the piece.

Do you recommend that I buy the chess pieces in the video separately for $30?? Or are there better chess pieces for the price?

How can it tell the difference between for example a king and pawn?
Once the pieces are in position, it automatically logs those pieces according to their position when you turn it on.

Hi, I try to cover as much of the surface as possible, without any signs of the sticker when the piece is on the board. Hope that helps. Thanks!
