I like the ChessUp board. I feel that they released it with too many bugs from the start. I was hoping to be less dependent upon my phone or tablet, but most of the functions I use still require settings only available through the ChessUp app. I feel that if you're still tied down to an external device, I would honestly recommend the Chessnut. I use the Chessnut for Android App, and everything has been flawless. No problems with chess.com or lichess. I think the app alone really separates the 2. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the question. I'm actually going to do a comparison video between the 2 boards this weekend. In my opinion, the pieces on the Go are just fine. I don't find them too small. The magnets are very strong for moving around. They both use the same powerful app and use similar lights in the corner of the squares. The only real difference between the 2 is that the Air gives you the larger playing area and slightly larger pieces. They are both a solid choice, it really depends on your personal needs. Hi. The bags measure approximately 6" x 8" and are lined with a felt material. They are more than big enough. Very nice bags!

Hi, I haven't run into a situation where I ran that low. I always charge my board when I'm done. I will test it out and see if I can find out how long mine lasts. Thanks for the question. I'm curious now.

@@skymantechnology8329 yeah I'm curious too. Maybe there is a difference with the old and the new one app. I'm checking but weird because some people says it can have 10h without charging but in my case... it's horrible and disappointed.

When the green led lightens up, it's still not fully charged but at about 70%... leave it for a little longer.. In the upper-right of their newer app, when you tap for two seconds, the new window will show up with battery status in number and percent ( when the board is already connected )...

Oh you are amazing I’ll test that. I didn’t know that because when I connect my board on Bluetooth just after the light is green, it’s’ up to 100%. But maybe it’s a mistake.

It's different, for sure. I still enjoy my Millennium board, but for simplicity, you can't beat this board. Especially for someone just getting into the hobby. Functionality vs. aesthetic preference. I actually like them both. Thanks for the comment.

…it appears nobody has done a video on just how to drill the hole(s) in the board after cutting the Centaur open, but from what I have read, it is an amazing mod….with some risk of course. Apparently , there are TWO versions of the Centaur; this will impact which software you use on the mod from what I understand….I have my drill sitting next to my second hand Centaur…just haven’t taken the plunge yet.

I'm not as courageous as you. I'm going to leave my board just as it is. I have no reason to mod for my personal needs. Good luck!

I'm glad the reviews helped you. In regards to the charging speed of the board, I really don't know since my board has never been lower than about 25%, and then I charge it. It holds a charge for so long that playing with it plugged in was never an issue for me. I hope this helps somewhat. Thanks 😊

Thank you for this. I hope you don't mind me 'picking your brain ' and experience with the Centaur from time to time. After charging it last night, I had my first game on friendly. I made a stupid inattentive mistake, and lost in the end with Centaur being only one promoted pawn ahead, at midnight. I'm thinking of keeping score this way, as I think it will win the lion's share of games ! I'm 67, and a little slower than I was before retirement a few years ago.But it'll still be fun!😢​😊@skymantechnology8329

I'm not sure what level of player I am, . . , but probably between beginner and intermediate. I guess if I can win one in ten, my ego won't be too bruised.😊 . . I'm hoping that its adaptability runs only through the game being played or the session of consecutive games and not in memory, after you turn Centaur off and then on again , whether on the same day or later.

I can relate. I purchased my first computer chess board from Radio Shack over 40 years ago. Things have certainly come a long way since then, and I've been upgrading ever since!

The Rat-Shack 1650 peg travel set (which I bought 4 or 5 of them over the years - kept loosing the chessmen - which is why I had high hopes for the Novag Star Ruby / Star Sapphire), and the Radio-Shack Fast Response 1650 (I had it from the year it dropped til 2010 - 2011 when it finally died).

Also, I would have compared them side by side, but the second version is not available to purchase anywhere at this time. I'm patiently waiting. After speaking with the creators, they are looking to start shipping at the beginning of December.

Thanks ! Is your King there a 3.5 " piece, as I understand the set comes with a 3" piece ? By the way, I love chess, but I'm just a retired guy in my late 60s, and a casual player, wanting the fun of it, the beauty and sensory aspect of it, and wanting to keep my mental side in reasonable shape. I've heard that even in " Friendly " mode, howsever, . . winning against the Centaur is very challenging and rare. Your thoughts and experience on this ?

Hi! The king I use is actually 4". As far as the gameplay of the board, it truly is challenging. However, it's an AI board that calculates your every move to determine your playing strength. Therefore, it is like playing someone on your level, just a bit more difficult. It is certainly beatable. I'm an intermediate player, and I have logged in my share of wins in Friendly mode. If you want to really flex your mental muscles, just keep playing on this board and your skill will improve as you keep trying to up your game. I hope this helps.

Yes, it can be frustrating at first to beat the board. However, it really pushes you to work a little harder to become a better player. It's a great feeling when you start defeating it. I'm not sure about taking away pieces to gain an advantage. You do have the ability to take back a move, so that helps. I just played a game on it yesterday, and it was fun and simple. It's sleek. I hope this helps.

I'm sorry to hear about your condition. It's terrible having such health issues. I, too, have struggled with major health issues. I was on dialysis for 8 years before receiving a kidney transplant. I also had to undergo a 5 way heart bypass. I can relate to your situation, and this board has helped me get through tough times. I can just escape into a game. I just saw your message today, or I would have responded sooner. Take care of yourself!

@@skymantechnology8329 unfortunately the reviews I read said stay away from the millineum brand . I was looking at the king performance. I'm not rated . been playing chess since 73 lol.. my first computer was ' Boris ' and I think it ran like 300 dollars in 1977 .

@mikestubbs1708 currently I believe you can get the board for around $350 US. Not sure about the discount! Lol. It is Stockfish 9 to the best of my knowledge, which has never been an issue for me since the highest estimated ELO is 3000. I personally don't need Stockfish 17. Stockfish 9 is extremely strong and should not be underestimated just because newer versions of Stockfish are released. I stopped chasing the carrots and am completely content.

Yes, it has improved my game. The more I lost, the more I learned. It will adjust to your level of play and make you think more about tactics, strategy, etc. It sure feels good when defeat it! Hope this helps.

Everything you said is the reason I love this board. I meant to touch on all those points in the video, but just kinda got lost at some point. I really needed to write out my important points so I wouldn't forget. I always just shoot from the hip.

What sort of training do you do with it, if you don't mind me asking.

@@shadowside8433 Playing some example games from chess books. Interesting to see if the computer plays the same moves and sometimes correct the move that the computer plays for the move according to the book.
