- Presenting the first of a two part series documenting a full journey compilation aboard the Poorva Express. This was recorded in 2013, when the Poorva ran with one LHB and 2 ICF rakes. The dates on which the train would run with an LHB rake was provided in advance and one could book tickets accordingly.
This compilation covers the train's progress from Delhi to Mughal Sarai. Featured prominently is the series of overtakes at Dadri as four Rajdhanis and a Garib Rath overtake us. As night falls, the Poorva heads southeastwards through the plains of Uttar Pradesh. We have our locomotive change from diesel to electric at Allahabad and the Delhi bound Howrah Rajdhani enters the station at this point.
Post Allahabad, we cross the Ganga on a full moon night and head towards Janghai and Varanasi. Next morning, we are treated to a wonderful sunrise as the Mughal Sarai WDM3A charges towards Varanasi. Post Varanasi, we cross the Ganga again across the historic Dufferin bridge, the river glistening in the morning sun with a full view of the famous ghats of Varanasi. After crossing the Ganga, the Poorva engages in a couple of sweeping curves at it proceeds to rejoin the Allahabad Mughal Sarai mainline, prior to Mughal Sarai. We reach Mughal Sarai a little over an hour delayed, and undergo another loco change, where the Mughal Sarai WDM3A gives way to a Howrah WAP4.
