Witchcraft gets right to the heart of our sin and sinful natures. Witchcraft is the attempt to control people and get them to do what you want by any spirit which is not the Holy Spirit. Witchcraft uses three key features to get people to do what you want: manipulation, intimidation, and domination.

I have heard this teaching by Prince before. It is so true. I have to admit, I have seen non-charismatic churches have extreme amounts of manipulation as much as I have seen in charasmatic churches. It plays out differently, but both result in the desire to control.
It goes so deep. The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. It is such a wonderful thing to see men being amazing husbands and fathers. My Father was killed, on the job, when I was 4. I had bonded with him and so missed my father, but that residue he left with me was priceless. So long to see these young men who want to know how to be good fathers. I so long to see more mentors. I believe this came right on time. Thank you Holy Spirit. Just a few hours ago I had a terrible fight with my 15 year old son. I recently got my life right with God and I want my son to also follow suite, but the way I am handling it is a disaster. I threatened him tonight by saying to him to go stay with his mom if he don't change and follow God also with all of his heart like I do, but clearly through this video I just watched I am failing and are allowing this spirit of witchcraft to destroy my relationship with my son through manipulating and intimidating him. I am wrong please forgive me Jesus, please will you pray for me and my son. And pray for me especially for gentleness and kindness and love towards my son, pray for me that I find a way to overcome myself destructive nature, in Jesus name, help me Lord Jesus to change, remove my stubborn heart and give me a heart of flesh. David Pawson has written one of the best books on who really goes to heaven, called ""Once Saved Always Saved?" Everyone should read it, along with "Life in the Son" by Robert Shank.

I saw your short on Prince's 2 spirits of Branham. Prince also said that he personally saw Branham collapse in 2 meetings by demonic attack. A Pentecostal Canadian group followed Branham around his meetings and prayed, If this is not the Holy Spirit, let him be powerless to perform miracles (my paraphrase). In those meetings he apologized that he had could not pray for anyone because of a disrupting influence. Very telling!
I studied Derek Prince's teachings in the early '80s, after I had a dream showing me that evil spirits were making me sick and oppressing me. Our charismatic church taught that a Christians cannot have a demon, so I couldn't discuss what I was finding with those in the church. It was a controlling, shepherding church, which I mentioned before. I found Derek's teachings to be helpful, but not in how to understand where the demons affecting us actually come from. He emphasized generational spirits, if I remember correctly as being the main source. No doubt, curses are passed down and need to be broken or gotten free of through forgiving others prayers. I pray in tongues at the source of curses too, which I discovered to be a powerful way to be free. Instead of praying in tongues in general, we can focus what we're praying at in our heart, believing we're praying only for that, and then pray whatever words we get until our tongues stop. Then we're free, if we've been James-3 cursed by that person. Most "Christians" James-3 curse people to some degree, even in trying to compel a man to lust after them, for example. Pastors James-3 curse those who are onto their false teaching or hypocrite life. Mike Bickle probably did this a lot, hurting many. I'm convinced the main source of demons is not generational curses, but people James-3 cursing people to manipulate or destroy them, making them sick for example. This is how doctrines of demons become mainstream too. People James-3 curse people to believe their doctrines, so listeners then feel compelled to believe these false doctrines: OSAS, "only believe," "Christian" Zionism, women controlling men and almost all churches, pre-trib rapture, demon aren't a factor - RIP after almost all die; though, most probably don't go to heaven at all. Most pastors preach this passage to shut those who have eyes to see what's going on in their churches to shut up and not say anything, completely missing how James is talking about Christians cursing people from their heart, which is demonic and should not happen. James-3 cursing others is epidemic in the church. Also, I should say that if we willfully lust, we give demons a right to come into us and drive that sin, so most Christians probably think they can never be free, because they never fully repent, submitting to God, resisting the Devil to be free. Pastors don't know how to be free also, so they all embrace false salvation doctrines, so they can be Christians while living in the flesh and not really on their way to heaven, in the wrong Galatians-5 list. What James actually says in chapter 3, what I call James-3 curses: JAMES 3 warns “Christians” to not CURSE PEOPLE [praying against people] from the HEART, which is DEMONIC - from BITTER jealousy and SELFISH ambition: James 3:9 With it [the tongue] we bless our God and Father, and with it WE CURSE MEN, who are made in the image of God. 10 Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and CURSING. My BROTHERS, these things ought not to be so. … 14 But if you have BITTER JEALOUSY and SELFISH ambition IN YOUR HEART, don't boast and don't lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, SENSUAL, and DEMONIC. I don't recall Derek Prince ever teaching this. If he did, please let me know. I also know of only one book written on this subject, which just basically introduces the subject, doesn't go deep into it: "Charismatic Curses: Exposing Spiritual Abuse in the Church" "Breaking Christian Curses: Finding Freedom from Destructive Prayers" I think this is is the same book, written by Dennis Cramer. It's been awhile since I read them. The second is the updated version, if I'm remembering correctly. God bless! Very important subject! Most Christians have no clue how demons affect them, driving lust, hate, jealousy, lying, etc., and giving people thoughts in the first person in their minds, which people think are their own, familiar spirits.
If you know of any other books (or videos) on James-3 cursing people, I'm interested. This is also a main source of where lust demons come from. People James-3 curse people to lust after them. The demons can easily enter if the person has opened the door to lusting, which almost all Christians and pastors have.

God taught me a valuable lesson years ago about letting my husband be the head of the house. I was willing enough to let him lead as long as he was leading the way I wanted him to. I complained constantly, in my mind and in my prayers. I was relentless and, yes, willing to fight about it with my husband. Finally, after quite some time of me being this way, I suppose God got tired of hearing it. Once while I was fussing at God to do something about my husband, literally, a voice said to me, "Well if you'll shut up, I'll fix him". Though I'm sure no one heard it but me, it was very plainly said. My eyes were opened at that point widely. I changed me from that moment on. And my husband became the husband I wanted.
This is an amazing testimony. Do you have any advice for when there is poor leadership? We are having a lot of problems now because of my husbands previous bad decisions, and although he is stepping up now, it is hard to trust him to lead. I am struggling with resentment at the situation we are now in. I guess I must have the spirit of witchcraft because I am complaining against my husband frequently.

I can't say we haven't gone through some storms since then, but we have both learned so very much about faith and trust in God first and each other. God can and will teach him through his mistakes. I determined then to stand by this man of mine and let God do as He had promised. All things, sometimes difficult and even horrible things, work together to good to them that Love the Lord. Guard your own salvation, and leave the rest to the Master.

Joshua really great teaching. As a Pentecostal for the last 25 years and being in a very charismatic church with an active deliverance ministry no less. Much of what I have seen in the modern day church treat Jesus like a vending machine. I repent and confess publicly to others now for the ways I have been selfish, prideful, lustful, and lusting after others as well as being a hypocrite. I engaged with a married man & tried to justify it using my faith in Jesus by inviting him to church with me, knowing I didn’t have pure intentions.. I made a mockery out of the Holy Spirit.
I learned of Derek after he had already passed away. He has been my number one mentor aside from Corrie Ten Boom, through their books and recorded messages. I live with controlling, dominating family members due to chronic health issues that I have. It is very difficult, and I pray every day for a way out. (This video helps explain some of the spirit behind what is going on.) These family members would never admit to having any kind of issues. They are church leaders, and everyone around them holds them on a pedestal. A unique situation, for sure.

Thank you Joshua for this teaching. The Lord Jesus wanted me to spend time with Him a couple of weeks ago. A sense of urgency was in my spirit. I did get away for several days and Jesus revealed that in my past experiences in the "church" manipulation was the main ingredient to keep people in the 4 walls. I quickly forgave several pastors who were in witchcraft. It truly grieved my spirit to see that the Body of Christ was influenced in this way. It grieves the Spirit of Grace deeply as well. Oh my!! How this podcast hit home with me! Recently God has made this very clear to me…that I had been in total rebellion towards Him in one area of my life! I have always been an introverted somewhat passive person, and I know in the past people have tried to dominate me. I have a strong love of the Word of God. God has revealed people doing this to me, but instead of confronting these people in love I just avoided them. I know now that did not help them or allow them to repent. It just allowed them to go do the same things to others. God has helped me be more assertive and reveal the truth to those who need to face it so that God can deliver them.
Man, I've so appreciated your digging into Derek Prince. I had no idea what he had said about IHOP KC. I remember being at The Call and they were passing out his books (for free). It's weird to me because that book and the author (Derek Prince) I assumed aligned with IHOP since they were mingled together. I forget who shared on twitter, maybe Austin or Alter of Inquiry, but apparently Derek Prince took a strong stand against IHOP and clearly laid out the core issues we have seen manifest in these later days of IHOP. I have been refreshed to hear a voice articulating truth clearly (who actually had the foresight to see) the prevention of the debacle of IHOP. I can only wonder why they didn't heed his words, if they were a part of the place passing out his book 🤔
A point of thoughtful challenge: My study and my experience have led me to a very different paradigm than the popular "dual nature" point of view. I believe we have to put off the old man (nature) before we can put on the new (Eph. 4:22-24). Obviously there's more to say than I can squeeze into a comment box. Regarding having the fruits of the Spirit or not, it's not an option if we are to be real, going-to-heaven Christians. We practice being in Paul's "those who belong to Christ" list in Galatians 5, most often called the fruit of the Spirit list. Most born-again Christians are disqualified from going to heaven by willfully lusting without ever fully repenting alone - plus hatred, jealousy, etc. which is in Paul's "will not inherit the kingdom" list. I agree except when speaking about a woman submitting to the husband you need to add the stipulation that the man must Love his wife as Christ loves the Church, then she willingly submits as a godly woman. The scandalous crime in Myrtle Beach,SC, is a good example of a Pastor operating in Spiritual Witchcraft. Sadly, his lovely wife has died as a result. The Bible talks how the old man should be transformed into the new man. Yes, it can only be done by Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus has a good piece of advice in Matt. 26:41 " Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the Spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. " Jesus spent much time in prayer, I think we should do, too.
Hey Josh. I think there are issues in revivalism culture. I think revivalism over the gospel led to things like the Toronto Blessing where Ted Haggard, Mike Bickle, Paul Cain, and Frank Houston preached at and resulted in much of the witchcraft/manipulation in the charismatic church today. Does the pursuit of revival (while a holy desire) often results in narcissists manipulating people to produce a “man-made” revival?
I think you are on to something my friend. I think many people put too much focus on "revival" and it takes Jesus out of the picture. If we place Jesus and the gospel message and the center then legitimate revival should naturally occur. Many people love "revival" more then Jesus and the Gospel message. Also these revival can also go off track like and start producing weird and creepy stuff like people making animal noises at the Toronto blessing. Why can't we have a revival that doesn't get weird?
Joshua, where did you attend seminary? I attended Bible school and a little over a year of seminary at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School decades ago during the Vineyard holiness movement in the early '90s. That was really interesting.

Hello! I have a question about this topic…what do you think about professions that involve dominating a person physically like law enforcement? Does God want His people filled with the Holy Spirit to be involved? The believer would have to have a clear conscience about physically forcing a person to comply. Is God okay with this still in the New Testament new covenant era of that person is a potential threat to others?
Certain professions are given authority by the government to do their jobs. Police, doctors, Lawyers, etc. They are allowed to used their authority within the law.
The word demon possession doesn't exist in the greek. So there is so such concept in the NT. The greek word is demonized. So a Christian cannot be demon possessed. They can be demonized (have areas of their live they are not in control). This is what Derek Prince teaches

Where does Prince get the idea that witchcraft is manipulation? It sounds like it is coming from his head rather than the Bible. And what's the point of calling something witchcraft? Sin is bad in all forms. It just makes it sound more sinister than is necessary.

Mr Prince's discussion of what he termed Witchcraft was correctly identified as The Flesh- not a spirit of anything. The Charismatic church needs to stop this nonsense that everything is a "Spirit". Our flesh desires things and it's in our nature (our flesh) to make some of these things happen. ITS NOT A SPIRIT!! If you hurt people by manipulating them- yes it's your flesh!! Not a Spirit!! He had a case where the lady became badly possessed ( Christian lady) by Reading the book of psalms fir 40 days. He also says the book of proverbs must be handled with care , ad Solomon wrote them when he went to other Gods. I don’t know to be honest, just thought I would ask your opinion. Apparently, warlocks and witches use psalms and proverbs. I’m sticking with the New Testament fir now. Also, I heard that folk who use the name YHWH invocation get into spiritual bondage. Michael Brown has called the coming revival: the fullness of the Gentiles happening, mentioned in Romans 11, which needs to happen before the end comes. Many have prophesied this end times revival as being the most glorious. Jesus prayed our joy would be full when we're ONE with each other in Him "that THE WORLD WILL KNOW!" - John 17, another key passage, showing what will happen when God's goal of Ephesians 4:11-16 happens, which will just be what was supposed to be normal Christianity all along, which false teachers and those praying against people and revival (James-3 cursers) have hijacked. We need to learn how to break "Christian" curses, and walk in holiness together - worshiping Jesus, not women (Romans 1) to be full of real joy, not counterfeit, demonic. I have heard this teaching by Prince before. It is so true. I have to admit, I have seen non-charismatic churches have extreme amounts of manipulation as much as I have seen in charasmatic churches. It plays out differently, but both result in the desire to control.

I believe this came right on time. Thank you Holy Spirit. Just a few hours ago I had a terrible fight with my 15 year old son. I recently got my life right with God and I want my son to also follow suite, but the way I am handling it is a disaster. I threatened him tonight by saying to him to go stay with his mom if he don't change and follow God also with all of his heart like I do, but clearly through this video I just watched I am failing and are allowing this spirit of witchcraft to destroy my relationship with my son through manipulating and intimidating him. I am wrong please forgive me Jesus, please will you pray for me and my son. And pray for me especially for gentleness and kindness and love towards my son, pray for me that I find a way to overcome myself destructive nature, in Jesus name, help me Lord Jesus to change, remove my stubborn heart and give me a heart of flesh. I saw your short on Prince's 2 spirits of Branham. Prince also said that he personally saw Branham collapse in 2 meetings by demonic attack. A Pentecostal Canadian group followed Branham around his meetings and prayed, If this is not the Holy Spirit, let him be powerless to perform miracles (my paraphrase). In those meetings he apologized that he had could not pray for anyone because of a disrupting influence. Very telling!

I studied Derek Prince's teachings in the early '80s, after I had a dream showing me that evil spirits were making me sick and oppressing me. Our charismatic church taught that a Christians cannot have a demon, so I couldn't discuss what I was finding with those in the church. It was a controlling, shepherding church, which I mentioned before. I found Derek's teachings to be helpful, but not in how to understand where the demons affecting us actually come from.
He emphasized generational spirits, if I remember correctly as being the main source. No doubt, curses are passed down and need to be broken or gotten free of through forgiving others prayers. I pray in tongues at the source of curses too, which I discovered to be a powerful way to be free.
Instead of praying in tongues in general, we can focus what we're praying at in our heart, believing we're praying only for that, and then pray whatever words we get until our tongues stop. Then we're free, if we've been James-3 cursed by that person.
Most "Christians" James-3 curse people to some degree, even in trying to compel a man to lust after them, for example.
Pastors James-3 curse those who are onto their false teaching or hypocrite life. Mike Bickle probably did this a lot, hurting many.
I'm convinced the main source of demons is not generational curses, but people James-3 cursing people to manipulate or destroy them, making them sick for example. This is how doctrines of demons become mainstream too. People James-3 curse people to believe their doctrines, so listeners then feel compelled to believe these false doctrines: OSAS, "only believe," "Christian" Zionism, women controlling men and almost all churches, pre-trib rapture, demon aren't a factor - RIP after almost all die; though, most probably don't go to heaven at all.
Most pastors preach this passage to shut those who have eyes to see what's going on in their churches to shut up and not say anything, completely missing how James is talking about Christians cursing people from their heart, which is demonic and should not happen.
James-3 cursing others is epidemic in the church.
Also, I should say that if we willfully lust, we give demons a right to come into us and drive that sin, so most Christians probably think they can never be free, because they never fully repent, submitting to God, resisting the Devil to be free. Pastors don't know how to be free also, so they all embrace false salvation doctrines, so they can be Christians while living in the flesh and not really on their way to heaven, in the wrong Galatians-5 list.
What James actually says in chapter 3, what I call James-3 curses:
JAMES 3 warns “Christians” to not CURSE PEOPLE [praying against people] from the HEART, which is DEMONIC - from BITTER jealousy and SELFISH ambition:
James 3:9 With it [the tongue] we bless our God and Father, and with it WE CURSE MEN, who are made in the image of God. 10 Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and CURSING. My BROTHERS, these things ought not to be so. … 14 But if you have BITTER JEALOUSY and SELFISH ambition IN YOUR HEART, don't boast and don't lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, SENSUAL, and DEMONIC.
I don't recall Derek Prince ever teaching this. If he did, please let me know.

Most Christians have no clue how demons affect them, driving lust, hate, jealousy, lying, etc., and giving people thoughts in the first person in their minds, which people think are their own, familiar spirits.
If you know of any other books (or videos) on James-3 cursing people, I'm interested.
This is also a main source of where lust demons come from. People James-3 curse people to lust after them. The demons can easily enter if the person has opened the door to lusting, which almost all Christians and pastors have.

You are unto something big with Christians cursing. This might be a book you should write. I'd reed it.
God taught me a valuable lesson years ago about letting my husband be the head of the house. I was willing enough to let him lead as long as he was leading the way I wanted him to. I complained constantly, in my mind and in my prayers. I was relentless and, yes, willing to fight about it with my husband. Finally, after quite some time of me being this way, I suppose God got tired of hearing it. Once while I was fussing at God to do something about my husband, literally, a voice said to me, "Well if you'll shut up, I'll fix him". Though I'm sure no one heard it but me, it was very plainly said. My eyes were opened at that point widely. I changed me from that moment on. And my husband became the husband I wanted.
This is an amazing testimony. Do you have any advice for when there is poor leadership? We are having a lot of problems now because of my husbands previous bad decisions, and although he is stepping up now, it is hard to trust him to lead. I am struggling with resentment at the situation we are now in. I guess I must have the spirit of witchcraft because I am complaining against my husband frequently.

I can't say we haven't gone through some storms since then, but we have both learned so very much about faith and trust in God first and each other. God can and will teach him through his mistakes. I determined then to stand by this man of mine and let God do as He had promised. All things, sometimes difficult and even horrible things, work together to good to them that Love the Lord. Guard your own salvation, and leave the rest to the Master.

I repent and confess publicly to others now for the ways I have been selfish, prideful, lustful, and lusting after others as well as being a hypocrite. I engaged with a married man & tried to justify it using my faith in Jesus by inviting him to church with me, knowing I didn’t have pure intentions.. I made a mockery out of the Holy Spirit.
I learned of Derek after he had already passed away. He has been my number one mentor aside from Corrie Ten Boom, through their books and recorded messages. Thank you for sharing this and your insight! I repent of all witchcraft in my life and all generational witchcraft that has kept me/family bound in any way. I live with controlling, dominating family members due to chronic health issues that I have. It is very difficult, and I pray every day for a way out. (This video helps explain some of the spirit behind what is going on.) These family members would never admit to having any kind of issues. They are church leaders, and everyone around them holds them on a pedestal. A unique situation, for sure.

Thank you Joshua for this teaching. The Lord Jesus wanted me to spend time with Him a couple of weeks ago. A sense of urgency was in my spirit. I did get away for several days and Jesus revealed that in my past experiences in the "church" manipulation was the main ingredient to keep people in the 4 walls.
I quickly forgave several pastors who were in witchcraft. It truly grieved my spirit to see that the Body of Christ was influenced in this way. It grieves the Spirit of Grace deeply as well.

Oh my!! How this podcast hit home with me! Recently God has made this very clear to me…that I had been in total rebellion towards Him in one area of my life! Thank God…He gave me a chance to repent and repent I did….but now I am experiencing the outcome of my decisions against God and it is painful and difficult!

I have always been an introverted somewhat passive person, and I know in the past people have tried to dominate me. I have a strong love of the Word of God. God has revealed people doing this to me, but instead of confronting these people in love I just avoided them. I know now that did not help them or allow them to repent. It just allowed them to go do the same things to others. God has helped me be more assertive and reveal the truth to those who need to face it so that God can deliver them.

Man, I've so appreciated your digging into Derek Prince. I had no idea what he had said about IHOP KC. I remember being at The Call and they were passing out his books (for free). It's weird to me because that book and the author (Derek Prince) I assumed aligned with IHOP since they were mingled together. I forget who shared on twitter, maybe Austin or Alter of Inquiry, but apparently Derek Prince took a strong stand against IHOP and clearly laid out the core issues we have seen manifest in these later days of IHOP. I have been refreshed to hear a voice articulating truth clearly (who actually had the foresight to see) the prevention of the debacle of IHOP. I can only wonder why they didn't heed his words, if they were a part of the place passing out his book 🤔

A point of thoughtful challenge: My study and my experience have led me to a very different paradigm than the popular "dual nature" point of view. I believe we have to put off the old man (nature) before we can put on the new (Eph. 4:22-24). Obviously there's more to say than I can squeeze into a comment box. Thanks for being transparent about your past, and how understanding witchcraft helped you become free. Regarding having the fruits of the Spirit or not, it's not an option if we are to be real, going-to-heaven Christians. We practice being in Paul's "those who belong to Christ" list in Galatians 5, most often called the fruit of the Spirit list. Most born-again Christians are disqualified from going to heaven by willfully lusting without ever fully repenting alone - plus hatred, jealousy, etc. which is in Paul's "will not inherit the kingdom" list.
It's actually this simple, but how many pastors and teachers actually teach this?:

I agree except when speaking about a woman submitting to the husband you need to add the stipulation that the man must Love his wife as Christ loves the Church, then she willingly submits as a godly woman. I recommend trying to find a house church. First ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. Secondly ask others for good recommendations in your area.

Hey Josh. I think there are issues in revivalism culture. I think revivalism over the gospel led to things like the Toronto Blessing where Ted Haggard, Mike Bickle, Paul Cain, and Frank Houston preached at and resulted in much of the witchcraft/manipulation in the charismatic church today. Does the pursuit of revival (while a holy desire) often results in narcissists manipulating people to produce a “man-made” revival?
I think you are on to something my friend. I think many people put too much focus on "revival" and it takes Jesus out of the picture. If we place Jesus and the gospel message and the center then legitimate revival should naturally occur. Many people love "revival" more then Jesus and the Gospel message. Also these revival can also go off track like and start producing weird and creepy stuff like people making animal noises at the Toronto blessing. Why can't we have a revival that doesn't get weird?

Hello! I have a question about this topic…what do you think about professions that involve dominating a person physically like law enforcement? Does God want His people filled with the Holy Spirit to be involved? The believer would have to have a clear conscience about physically forcing a person to comply. Is God okay with this still in the New Testament new covenant era of that person is a potential threat to others?
Certain professions are given authority by the government to do their jobs. Police, doctors, Lawyers, etc. They are allowed to used their authority within the law.

Michael Brown has called the coming revival: the fullness of the Gentiles happening, mentioned in Romans 11, which needs to happen before the end comes.
Many have prophesied this end times revival as being the most glorious. Jesus prayed our joy would be full when we're ONE with each other in Him "that THE WORLD WILL KNOW!" - John 17, another key passage, showing what will happen when God's goal of Ephesians 4:11-16 happens, which will just be what was supposed to be normal Christianity all along, which false teachers and those praying against people and revival (James-3 cursers) have hijacked.
We need to learn how to break "Christian" curses, and walk in holiness together - worshiping Jesus, not women (Romans 1) to be full of real joy, not counterfeit, demonic.
