Thank you stealfos 😁 Jak and Daxter has kept me coming back for nearly two decades, wanted to get my ideas out there and contribute to the community the best way I could! ^^ Thanks for watching 😁
I was always under the impression that the towers in sentinel beach were watch-towers to look out for lurker invasions, they don't appear to be have been made by precursors and it looks over at misty island. Not to mention "sentinel" means a lookout or guard
This is by far my favorite location in the jak and daxter series I'm not sure why but it always has been. Great video looking forwards to the other location there's alot that you can infer from each area which let's you make this world seem greater then even what we see
It's my favourite too! I just love the relaxing music and all the old Precursor stuff dotted around the beach, the atmosphere is unmatched 😁 This video was longer for those reasons, there was more room for theorising and getting pretty visuals go along with it all ^^ You're spot on with that last bit - some of the best magic of J&D is what we see in our imagination! Thanks for watching 😁
@@derrinmaloney1039 I'm looking very forward to you next videos most only talk from jak 2 onwards and ignore PL good to see it getting the attention it deserves finally.
I love how much this really feels like a history channel type of biography and the jak’d podcast was right your voice is so relaxing and it really fits the tone it sounds just like the commenters voice usually sounds in history channels biography’s I can’t wait to get a chance to watch the rest of your jak theory videos
That's some fine praise, thanks so much man! The next episode won't be long, been working with some other creators on including something a bit different than previous episodes so stay tuned ;) I'm glad you like the series so much, your support is much appreciated 😁
These videos are an absolute gem. Back in the day I wrote some stuff about the world of Jak and Daxter in a style similar to your videos and I feel incredibly happy to watch them. Your descriptions, your theories, the aura of mystery and magic you create while speaking... This is great and makes me really happy about the Jak community. I think we're growing bigger and wider every day thanks to the work of people like you. I really hope you get to talk about the other games as well in the future!
Thank you so much, that truly means a lot to hear you say that :) I'll be covering TPL intermittently while I focus on my writing of other projects, so hopefully someday I can do the other games when the notion takes me! I'd like to read your writing to if you posted it anywhere!
@@derrinmaloney1039 that sounds like a pretty good idea! I should re-write it a little bit because it's pretty old and my writing has improved significantly since then. Besides, it's in Spanish so I should translate it into English so more people can read it, but it's no big deal. If I ever upload it somewhere, I will tell you :D
I have many questions about Misty Island. Why is it the way it is? It seems to be an anomaly of sorts. By all means, it should be a tropical island like Geyser Rock, but instead, the island is dead, with fossils sticking out of the cliffsides where Geyser Rock and the mainland have no such similar features. What draws the mist from which the island gets its name? I suspect there may be some mystical force at work there. Perhaps corruption from the dark eco? You'd assume so, but there's a dark eco reserve up in the Mountain Temple, and the area surrounded that still remains green, so what gives? Artificial interference? That is the big question. Why is Misty Island a dead rock?
I definitely have a few theories, and some of them fall in line with the ones you have 😁 It's definitely an anomaly, there isn't really anything that we've seen that would cause the islands environment to be like that compared to the rest of the game! I'll be sure go as deep as I can with what's available to me to analyse, but I'll save it for the next episode! Though here is a taste - if you like the game Subnautica, then you'll like the next episode ;)
I feel it was my best video yet, I'm delighted that you liked it so much - I knew you would appreciate it 😁 I'm going to dabble in voiceover editing for the next one, I used a different mic for this one so it sounded better but also a bit noisier, so I'll fix that in time for the Misty Island episode :)
I'll likely focus on the Precursor stuff as most of the later games were almost all human creations, so there isn't as much theorizing to be done, but I'll do as much as I can think of :)
Raid I'd kill for a codex type feature in any future games, Mass Effect style lore library that you can unlock throughout the game or something! New video is up also 😁
It doesn't seem right to me that the building would be designed for gigantic beings, despite the stair size, since the balcony itself is roughly human sized. Could be more likely that originally parts of the stairs were built out of some different material, such as wood or precursor metal, that has since then either rotted away (wood) or been scavenged for other uses (precursor metal / any valuable material), leaving only the rough stone base of the stairs left to stand the test of time.
If I remember correctly the wall on the balcony is just at Jak's neck level, so it'd be a comfortable height for a being that'd be around 7-8 feet! Great point about the potential decay/scavenging - I can imagine these monuments looking very aesthetic when covered with bits of Precursor metal 😁
my theory is that the sentinels are stone monuments that once decorated the entrance to the catacombs as the areas where sentinel beach were a part of are no longer present after the construction of Haven city which sits above one of several primary access tunnels to the Planet’s core.
Even with the newfound knowledge and clarification of who/what the precursors are, and what they do as a culture: these mighty structures and now silent chambers & vistas still hold ancient secrets, yet to be disclosed. What you do with these videos is a further testament to the one-of-a-kind world and mythos Jak's creators weaved. And to that i say: thanks b r u h
You're most welcome, and thank you for appreciating my videos so genuinely - it feels good to know there are others who see this game the same way I do 😁 I'm 4 pages into the Misty Island episode script, won't be long 😁
I beleive the sentinels on the beach are statues, and not actual precursor robots. I think the robots in jak 3 have ben covered in volcanic rock, and therefore incased inside it to look like statues, where these are obviously carved and decorated, so I believe they are just that, and are decorations of some sort
Good thinking! That's the great thing about theorising about the Jak universe, anything is possible and there are no wrong answers 😁 Could be a mix of both either - the ones on the beach were covered by volcanic rock, and maybe ancuent humans carved the rock in honour of the robots within, kinda like a sarcophagus!
And i have some theories: 1) Which year was during the events of Jak 1, 2 and 3. 2) What happened to Kiera's biological parents and Jak's mother. 3) How the old and young Samos change their temporal places. 4) Why dark eco lakes and pits doesn't appear in Jak 3. 5) The most important thing: how, where, and when Veger got his staff.
Thank you Nathandude 120, love seeing people showing love for the game and appreciating it even after all these years and I'm glad I could help you appreciate it even more! 😁
Me too, I always wondered if there was a secret way up and what could be up there! We can explore it now thanks to cheat mode/debug mode 😁 Imagine if there was a whole extra part of Sentinel Beach that only becomes reachable when the tide goes out! Ideas for a remake 😅
@@derrinmaloney1039 I still want a prequel to Jak 2/Daxter that deals with getting the fuel for the precursor time machine. Doing something like combining sage powers and teaming up with them for certain stages would be so cool. Like the blue sage taking you through a obstacle course through a precursor temple that requires you to use speed, so you unlock a dash powerup that takes up 1/5th of the eco gage per use. Theres so much potential for the Jak 1 universe still!
The yellow sage could take you soaring through the air to a hidden precursor base that only shows up once a year. A new flutt flutt can get introduced that has flight abilities, and you can ride it through the sky with the yellow sages eco-assistance to shoot down dormant precursor guards who are meant to protect the secrets of the sky fortress for a really cool flutt flutt only level in the skies!
The Greatest Mystery: I mean, it could take like a day or two to get the logs there. I don’t know the size of the world, but it can be any larger than Manhattan. Right?
That last segment was mainly a joke 😂 But size wise I think the island might be significantly smaller than Manhattan, but I'm no expert on the scale of either!
