Proud of our proud Pumas. Maybe the reg lacked guts to punish Ireland at the last instances of the game after many (intentional) fouls. All credits to Ireland for clinching the win, but I think the Pumas proved to the world (and themselves, despite some silly mistakes) that they are a better side than Ireland today, and that despite losing today, they know they can beat Ireland. Best of luck next week v. France. Congrats on the channel Mark! I do enjoy the content 👏🏽
No diss on Argentina, they were great. But something js amiss with IRL. No dummy runs, discipline poor, no loops, forwards not dominating the break downs. Defense solid though. Contepomi leaving his mark on this Argentina side. He is well liked and respected at Leinster.
Cheers for the review Mark, love the way you give credit to both teams and mention individual performances.we appreciate your honesty on team performances when their not playing well .great work Mark
Congratulations to Ireland on a hard fought win Against a tough Argentina side that wouldn't go away, some really good trys scored from Ireland and that try from Argentina was outstanding! Well done to both teams
@@aughalough1 who cares if they are northern or southern referees; just rewatch the game from min 80 onwards and ask yourself how many of those irish penalties would have been given to any other team; whats the TMO there for
Well done to Argentinia for an amazzing display and on its way to become a formidable team...but hey...a win is a win...Ireland being saved by the final whistle
I told you that you were underestimating Mallia in your preview 😀While Argentina's defense, even with 14 men, was fantastic at times, their attacking game let them down
It isn't as menacing and im an irish fan. Lot of butter fingers still and lack of pace and accuracy. My hope is they're in transition. Several exciting players coming in. Hope we settle in these games and really build through the 6n.
Nice one mark though i think joes try was fine... Much better than last week, a real contest with energy and better passing from Ireland. Discipline and lineout still under standard, having a bad week it seems. We knew argentina would show up and an upset was heavily permeable the entire second half. Very happy with Irelands defence though, that was the difference. Argentinas counter rucking is something else, i love watching them just smash up the field and will be watching them with glee for the rest of the month. Our bench was much better, osborne continues to impress and delighted with sam and clarkson on their debuts. At long last it feels like were actually using young talent available to us. VDF for motm. Guy was crucial.
Spot on analysis, Mark. But please, please, never say "See-an Healy" again. It's "Kee-an". I winced every time you said it! He's been around, as you mentioned, for 133 caps; I'm astonished you don't know how his name is pronounced! Otherwise, as I said, a really good summary of a hard fought win for Ireland.
many thanks for Vid. Argentina played really well today and cemented their position as no. 5 in the world. Ireland have still a lot to do. However, I would take issue with your comments on the McCarthy try and the alleged interference of Doris. Having looked at the replay in slow motion. If you replay at at 3:10 on ruclips.net/video/p-h4NHpjAtA/видео.html&ab_channel=TNTSports Doris stands his ground and lifts up his arm, McCarthy is already diving towards the line, and is just about to touch down, before there is any contact between Doris and the Argentinian player. Contact follows immediately after 3:10 on this video, as the Argentinean player runs into Doris's upraised arm, but by this stage,, McCarthy had actually touched down. Most legitimate try in MHO.
Two lessons to learn, Pumas, from the time in Ireland: how to play like the greens all the time offside without the referee noticing. And how to use the referee's blindness for penalties against you in a last play and his optimal vision to charge a foul in favor of the opponent when no one else saw it, also in the last play...
From an Irish perspective a win is a win so that's good and that's what matters most. However, the manner of that win was concerning to say the least. An very good first half performance followed up by a very poor (despite a few purple patches which came to naught) in the second half is for me is a below average performance. The Irish discipline is unacceptable. 13 pens for two weeks in a row from a team who a few years ago prided themselves on 1 or 2 pens per game...something very much not right there. Lineouts yet again a big issue. We're certainly not clicking right now but at least it's the Autumn Series 2024 so plenty of time to put things right...and that needs to be sorted out and fast. Kudos to Los Pumas. They played some great stuff and they probably deserved to win or least get a draw. They will be a challenge for any of the big teams which is great to see. Nailbiting end for me but glad we squeaked that one. I'm sure the neutrals enjoyed it though. Despite the errors and cards it was an exciting game and there was a lot of great rugby from both teams. A message to Andy Farrell. Sort out the those discipline issues fast. And a message to Paul O'Connell...sort out our lineouts and fast. If not, this will be our downfall. Thanks Mark. Great review.
I think the difference is that Argentina is clearly a team on an upwards trajectory and Ireland had not shown anymore inovation other being a very strong balanced side. Come 2027, we will see some very upsets from the Argentinians. Yes their are some work to do, but they have the cattle. Congrats to Ireland.
Ireland were poor and Argentina probably deserved to win but Ireland can turn things around. There are players coming through that will make a real difference. It will take a year i think. A win is a win.
Argentina said winning this game was the goal of the entire tour, Ireland being the only top tier team they hadn't beaten at home, they came close, but Ireland were very good in defence, only the 2nd try conceded in last 3 games v SA, NZ and now the Pumas. Farrell will not be happy. From 22-9 up, the lack of game management and error count was extremely poor.
Great review, but Mark, do you have any conclusive footage of that final Knock-on? Williams was a disgrace to refereeing, specially the last 10 minutes.
There were (at least) two clear Irish intentional fouls before the “knock-on” that the ref did not have the guts to award the penalty that the Argentines deserved
That first Yellow Card against Argentina was an utter DISGRACE ! This was nothing but the game of intense / committed / physical rugga we enjoy .... Let alone the fact it cost the Argies a fantastic opening try ! Further; there was no HIA for the Irish player who I believe certainly performed an exaggerated * Hollywood Dive; * noting that he was almost immediately up-and-about; getting straight back into the game ... No worries ! And the less said about Bealham's tame * Croc-Roll * clean-out Yellow Card; the better ! These imposed; unnecessary namby-pamby * Degrees Of * rules are RUINING the spectacle that is the physical confrontation of exciting rugby ! And yes; Ref Williams was suspect / below an acceptable international standard to BOTH teams; repeatedly being led by the overly-interfering TMO instead of being the primary Official in charge of the game... ! 😡💩🪰
@@johnnyeveritt5695 Agree 100% re the Crowley HIA. If the RFU are genuinely converned, they should ensure all head knocks are assessed, by a Doctor who has no vested interest.

Argentina unlucky not to win. Ireland defence excellent. Ireland fast out of the blocks paid the price in the second half. Ireland need an enforcer to stop them from giving away penalties and lowering standards. Lineout isn't working, but who's going to call out O’Connell?
Don't you find it strange that the ref ended the game five yards from the Irish try line from an alleged "knock on" - something we were not allowed to see, via replay ?
Something has to be done with defensive penalties, Mark. Ireland made how many infringements under their own posts in the last 2 minutes of game? 2? 3? 6?
Such a good game to watch! Pity Argentina just couldn't finish right at the end - that would have been epic! They deserved a win. Well done to Ireland though. The defense on both sides was impeccable. Argentina have that low, around the ankles tackle style that works a treat. 2027 - Pumas Vs Springboks in the RWC final
Ireland were haunted to win / our trend is downwards unfortunately. Was never a reckoning after the car crash that was Irish RWC 2023 campaign but that's how it works here in Ireland / zero accountability in sport or any other area of life.
Ireland is a hell of a team... against 14 players. They were rolled over by Argentina in the second half and the ref save Ireland's skin several times in the last Argie attack ( I saw at least 3 different Irish penalties in the same last play!). Ugly match, but still entertaining.
@leonardodavinci7425 Do you think that is as a result of the opposition putting them under pressure. They look great going forward, but when the heat comes on they are making errors. Is that how you see it?
If the impact on the smart gum guard doesn't result in an HIA and there is mitigation for the tackler, then surely it should result in a penalty only, rather than a sending off? I'd like to see players being penalized for simulation, as they're starting to do in football. We don't need it in our game.
Moroni wasn't high in his tackle. He was low, but unfortunately, Crowley was lower, followed by unnecessary Crowley simulation. Nothing more than a penalty in my view. This led to a canceled Argentina try, a yellow card, no HIA for Crowley, and an Irish try. Effectively, a 14-point swing in a 3-point game. The only thing that was more galling was the hysterical reaction of the home crowd to Crowley's simulation.
Moroni was lucky to get a yellow , if it was a ref from last weeks games he was gone, like it or not. Ireland have had 2 games together now since July , improvements? Yes, perfect no, discipline is killing us , plus new 10 which is essential.Defense is still great. Anyway on to Fiji for the next phase
Honestly, I have my doubts about that. It’s clear that Ireland still has a strong attack and has proven to be a great side. The main issues holding Ireland back are discipline and lineouts. Discipline is becoming a significant concern-25 penalties in two games is absurd. However, this is something that can be addressed relatively easily. Fixing this would allow Ireland to keep the scoreboard ticking and secure more comfortable wins. As for the lineouts, this has been a persistent problem since 2023, and I’m beginning to think it might not be fixable-if it were, we’d likely have seen improvement by now. That being said, if Ireland can improve in these two areas, they would look much sharper and more confident. Additionally, working on handling errors would help too. In short, Ireland is rebuilding slowly but remains a dangerous team for any opponent. Addressing these key issues would make Ireland a formidable force once again. But can they?
