The razors were made of brass and then plated in Chrome or Gold. Some Tech razors were yellow brass with red brass. It needs replating, but beautiful job!

Of course, here's a less polished version:
Great input! I'd love to chrome it, but I'm still missing some stuff. Thank you very much for the feedback!

Don't use force or tools in old soapy razors. Just put them in boiled water leave them overnight and brush them. Great video nice razor.

Latvian here. Very similar razor I inherited from my father, also Gillette England. From about WWII time. In a better condition and accidentally I used it myself. A few years ago I bought a Merkur razor which is nearly 100% similar to the old Gillette. And by the way, with such a razor you can not only shave, but also trim your hair.

That razor might be worth sending to Razor Emporium in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, for their "Revamp" service. Their technicians can renew the razor and then re-plate it for you. I sent one of my own Gillette Tech Ball End razors (which is much newer than the razor shown here, of course) and they did a marvelous job for me. Razor Emporium has its own channel and you might like to see some of their restoration videos.

Yes! They are really very good! The thing is that I live in Argentina and shipping is a bit far for me. Also, honestly, I enjoy the process. Thank you for commenting.

Back Roads Gold also does a really good job, just in case you're looking for an alternative.

I realize trying to chrome plat it would be a huge setup issue and cost. But you could easily Nickel Plate it very easily and cheap. And once it is Nickel Plated, you can buff it to a mirror finish and would look every bit as nice as Chrome Plating... Just an idea...

    • @OldRazors

@@OldRazors I agree. Razor Emporium's "Revamp" service would be great. They can professionally re-plate the razor.
