  • Demonstration of human-like mulit-contact locomotion on the bipedal robot AMBER. In particular, as inspired by human-locomotion, the robot demonstrates three phases of walking throughout the walking gait characterized by changing contact points at the heel and toe. Furthermore, these changing contact points result in different three different types of actuation throughout the walking gait: full actuation, underactuation and over actuation. The end result is human-like locomotion on the robot.

Good job, while more companies get into this, more knowledge will be accumulated.

Yeah replicating the motion is fairly simple mechanics. It is the response to feedback to balance and adjust for variations that is the hard part and I see nothing of that here.

Good point that ASIMO may look more fancy. But you may notice that ASIMO is flatfoot walking, it is tuned by more than 50 engineers to make it looks like human. Human doesn't walk flatfoot

Good job, the only problem is that no human walks like that

Good point on the lateral balance comment. Other than that, that person looks awkward. More like human walking like robot.

How can you claim it's human-like without any lateral balance?

They don't have the foot action at all. He's walking in snow shoes and rough surfaces wouldn't work, much less detecting them.

They keep making robots that walk by bending the knee upwards and backwards and then landing awkwardly. we humans walk by "throwing" our feet forwards

That's not walking if the center of gravity does not do a cycloid curve.

Ok i like this but first don't try to make a fake walk make the walk natural put attention to the movement in a relax mode # 2 the feet are to small they have this fascination with humans feet humans have not small feet are feet is what give us balance if you cut one toe of a human mainly the big toe the human have to readapt to walk

First we teach them to walk like humans and then they're harvesting our bodies for energy. I've seen it a hundred times.
