I feel your pain, Lee. If I may make a suggestion. One of the other people that I follow here on youtube has the same issue and they got around it by posting the "banned" videos on their own website. Because their site is NOT incentivized, they make no money, so they have no issues with copyright. Just a thought, as we all would LOVE to hear you play to those amazing James Taylor songs!
Cheer up, brother! I hope you don't run into this again. Would love to see you do tutorials regarding technique, as well as your musical philosophy. A big fan👍
You can’t play music you help create, ridiculous! Thanks for trying anyways Leland! Ahhhh...what is the world coming too? Enjoy the rest of your day Leland, take care!🤟🙂
I used to record my son’s prep hockey games and post on YT for the team. I would get dinged for songs played at the arena in between whistles in the background. Not the same as your situation, but still a bunch of crap. The algorithm justs goes through and hears the soundbite, even if it’s muffled and in the background. Unreal. Stay awesome Lee. We love these videos!
GiacomoJimmi , to a degree, yes. There was a time though (60’s early 70’s) where the “business men” put their trust in musicians to the point of ‘allowing’ them to release more “experimental” types of music as semi mainstream. Check out Zappa’s take on it. ruclips.net/video/xP4wsURn3rw/видео.html
@@CuzCutz This was the ‘sign anyone with long hair’ period (beneficial to the likes of Zappa, and for that we should be thankful). But that was a narrow window, when society itself was in massive upheaval.

That would most likely be RUclips's Content ID system. It's totally computerized. It was something RUclips worked out with the record labels to keep from getting sued. Record companies manually making copyright claims happens, but it's very rare. As others have said, you can dispute it.
Leland I can understand your frustration. You are one of my heroes as I saw you about 30 years ago in Zürich with Phil. It was my very first arena concert that I have ever attended and to this day I still have the ticket.
Dam! I got so excited when I saw a James Taylor song coming Especially that one. What a sad state of affairs that you can't make some people happy by playing your bass for 5 minutes.. I'm pissed off too.
So sad that the priority is for the lawyers to make money, and for the lowest common denominator to be in control instead of the artists being in control.
I am not a bassist at all, in fact I'm a pianist and keyboardist but I enjoyed your videos so much!! Every serious musician knows that a gifted bass player can sharpen the character of a song or a composition in general. I'm a big fan of your playing! Thumps up for you and: Thank you so much!
Hi Lee ! This happened with me either. I recorded the bass to Grupo Cantareira, the copyright is MINE and Sony Music has muted my Facebook video for copyright grounds.
Someone or computer did this to a Rick Beato post on a Zeppelin “What makes this song great”. He was able to get it back on, but had to deal with the same frustration as Mr Sklar. It ridiculous, these videos are exposing new people to great music they may have never heard before.
Leland, your bass playing on Your Smiling Face is legendary and your bass tone on that track is to die for! That tone is what I aspire to on my P-bass.
I'm another potential "Customer", but listening to Leland, I'm inclined not to look into this track, whether streaming or purchasing! F Warner Music Group!
So dumb, I always wondered if they would ever copyright someone who was a part of the song and now there is definitive proof of how screwed up things have gotten with legal bull crap
At a time when we all need support, when a brilliant musician gives so much time and effort worldwide for the benefit of all of us. Please God, where is the humanity in all this. Hope to see you in Ireland soon Leland, you are a Legend.
Hey Lee, try posting on BitChute. A bunch of YT content creators have either started to use it either as a backup channel or have migrated completely to BitChute. Good luck Sir!

Sorry you are experiencing this B.S. ... I enjoy your videos so much.. there has been so many incredible bass lines pass through your hands, please continue to show us the way.. Respect 🙏🙏
Keep yoir chin up. You are a legend and an inspiration to us all. I hope to meet you some day. Rock on!
Question everything, then question the answers. Because most is BS.
Why?
Totally agree with your sentiment .Please continue your work if possible. You are one of the good guys .A great guy .
Cheer up, brother! I hope you don't run into this again. Would love to see you do tutorials regarding technique, as well as your musical philosophy. A big fan👍
I love your channel i just found it, realizing you made one of favorite tunes really makes me happy as heck please keep making videos
Lee sklar perfect!!!!
I had no idea who you were when I subbed here. You got me on just the merit of your current work, about five years ago.
One of the 1st bass lines I learned as a kid. That bass line is like 75% of the song, at least for me anyway. .
Don't leave us Lee!!! As many people already said, you can dispute the copyright claim! I send you the best vibes, hope to see you soon!
You deserve better, Leland! Rock On, Man!
That is just egregious!😔😔
I hope you heal over the weekend my friend!🙏
You can’t play music you help create, ridiculous! Thanks for trying anyways Leland! Ahhhh...what is the world coming too? Enjoy the rest of your day Leland, take care!🤟🙂
I used to record my son’s prep hockey games and post on YT for the team. I would get dinged for songs played at the arena in between whistles in the background. Not the same as your situation, but still a bunch of crap. The algorithm justs goes through and hears the soundbite, even if it’s muffled and in the background. Unreal. Stay awesome Lee. We love these videos!
Musicians need to take the music “business” back!
@@BrianLarney That isn't really true, Spotify is just a streaming service with no power whatsoever, it isn't even doing well
Take it ‘back’? When did musicians ever have it? When was the music business ever not run by crooks?
GiacomoJimmi , to a degree, yes. There was a time though (60’s early 70’s) where the “business men” put their trust in musicians to the point of ‘allowing’ them to release more “experimental” types of music as semi mainstream. Check out Zappa’s take on it. ruclips.net/video/xP4wsURn3rw/видео.html
@@CuzCutz This was the ‘sign anyone with long hair’ period (beneficial to the likes of Zappa, and for that we should be thankful). But that was a narrow window, when society itself was in massive upheaval.
Love the music, but I enjoy just hearing you reminisce and philosophize too! Always guaranteed to be enlightening in one way or another. Have a good chill over the weekend, and see you next week, bother!
Believe me Leland, we're just as pissed off as you are... nontheless, enjoy your weekend.
You are amazing and so so wonderfully gifted
That would most likely be RUclips's Content ID system. It's totally computerized. It was something RUclips worked out with the record labels to keep from getting sued. Record companies manually making copyright claims happens, but it's very rare. As others have said, you can dispute it.
I have had several videos receive a claim within seconds of release. To me, that shows that the system is mostly automated.
Leland I can understand your frustration. You are one of my heroes as I saw you about 30 years ago in Zürich with Phil. It was my very first arena concert that I have ever attended and to this day I still have the ticket.
RUclips: "You're guilty until proven innocent."
Rocord labels: "You'd better pay up, if you wanna play stuff."
Your smiling face is soooooooo iconic...thanks for this one. always makes me sing a long and keep my feet tapping
Dam! I got so excited when I saw a James Taylor song coming Especially that one. What a sad state of affairs that you can't make some people happy by playing your bass for 5 minutes.. I'm pissed off too.
Your smiling face IS A MASTERWORK!! ONE OF THE MANY REASONS I STARTED LISTENIN' TO YOU!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
So sad that the priority is for the lawyers to make money, and for the lowest common denominator to be in control instead of the artists being in control.
Amen.... We're all suffering at the hands of greed and evil.... But we will fight! And eventually WIN!
Someone or computer did this to a Rick Beato post on a Zeppelin “What makes this song great”. He was able to get it back on, but had to deal with the same frustration as Mr Sklar. It ridiculous, these videos are exposing new people to great music they may have never heard before.
@Spike Flea The airline industry is equally run by corporate scumbags.
Thanx for being open.
Welcome to "The Land of Confusion"
Superman Where Are You Now😄
@@stephenbrown310 Not enough love to go around!!!!!!!!!
Making promises we'll never keep.
That's very sad to hear :( please keep going, your presence, what you share is so valuable, not just about music.
Hey Lee, try posting on BitChute. A bunch of YT content creators have either started to use it either as a backup channel or have migrated completely to BitChute. Good luck Sir!
This is what has to happen. Content creators need to band together and pick another platform. Then move en masse there. We WILL follow you there and leave these scumbags in the dust. Screw these RUclips assholes
Don't you have to pay to have an account? That's almost worst for someone like me.
Absolutely ridiculous! You're one of my favorite bass players of all time, and now you're one of my favorite people. Keep fighting the good fight!
Well, Artists that take down (the labels do it) this kind of videos are going to be forgotten!, their content won't be available for a generation to enjoy, it's all that takes for them to disappear.
Nobody will remember led Zeppelin in 50 year's
Say on Leland...say on ...👏🏻
