I am always impressed and amazed on all of the Escape to the Country shows at how many splendid and artistic camera angles the camera operators are able to get without getting themselves in the shot as well! Chapeau!! Your skills are much appreciated and admired! ❤❤ And, how you achieve such crisp audio in windy weather without visible wind buffers or microphones is another marvel!!
I would go for the 2nd house. It was detached, off the road on a quiet cul-de-sac, nice flow from the living to the dinning room and kitchen, potential downstairs bedroom which was currently used as an office but still enough space in the living room for office space, upstairs bedrooms with 2 bathrooms included a master ensuite, nice manageable garden and courtyard, move in ready plus a garage
Thank you for pulling my attention to the writer Ted Hughes. Forgive me but I had never heard of him so I went to look him up. Famous he was for the 'The Iron man', a book written to comfort his young son after his mother had died by suicide. Forty-seven years later Nicholas also took his own life. A very sad story and ...Ironic. Great Houses, especially the Mystery one, nice couple and Host!
I’m not certain they really know what they want. I think children would have loved the first garden, who would want to run around on gravel instead of grass. The first garden was nearly magical. House 1 was lovely and yet compact, house two was decent size but missing a bathroom downstairs near the 3rd bedroom/study. This episode is from around 2017-18 as expensive as things had already gotten they were lucky to locate those properties in Devon. You wouldn’t buy them for much less then 100k more than the price then. The mystery house is a lovely place built in the 1920’s with a rather Georgian feel. That’s too big, first too small, second??
The laundry room can accommodate a wet room for that potential 3rd bedroom currently being used as a study. Also, the gravel can also be laid to lawn. People live inside the house not in the garden. I would rather have a beautiful lovely house with a compromise on the garden than a lovely garden with a compact house I will compromise on.
I think the couple were just being polite about the choices.
👍👍👍 Real full episode including end credits. Every episode of Escape To The Country should be of this audio, visual and editing quality.

Lovely couple ..and loved that mystery house .
To see how people "develop' aka destroy beautiful properties, the mystery house is back on the market and looks completely different
L♥ve the mystery house! OMG!!!!

He was Sylvia Plath's husband.

2nd house.
Dear Ones who have a "small" budget with "big" hopes - oh well - hope your lives proceed onto happiness!
And, as was pointed out in an earlier comment, are being polite about realistic but disappointing choices they're shown.
I prefer the 1st house…
