I loved all the properties, and I think they made good choices of houses to show them. In this programme, the mystery house is the occasion to show people properties they might never have considered themselves. In this case, they wanted detached, and yet the mystery house, which was attached on both sides suited them very well. So it's good to keep an open mind when house hunting.
The first house had the most beautiful garden. The rooms are extremely dark. The second house, although it was supposed to be old, was too modern, they didn't want that. Not to mention the garden, which is definitely not a typical English garden at this house. Third house and garden beautiful but extremely dark kitchen. I'm surprised they went from that nice house in sunny France (and snow in winter!) to rainy England. It would have to be a really awesome house (make no mistake, I love this show because of the lovely English cottages and gardens) and the garden…
I am not a fan of dark bones as well but I believe painting will lighten up house 1. It is a beautiful home. If the windows can be made bigger glass doors that would be lovely. Seeing potential matters.
The 2nd house was lovely especially the kitchen. It was above budget but it wouldn't need any work done to it apart from an update to the master ensuite to make it more modern and adding a bathroom and toilet tl the loft space above the carport to create an income potential which could help offset the additional cost of the house or it will just be for family and friends when they visit.
House 1 had 'off' vibes though the garden was nice. House 2, too modern. Mystery house - wow! I could live there, a beautiful space and a gorgeous private garden.
I've lived in France for 36 years and have many French friends, a lot of whom speak English. I've never heard quite such a strong French accent; it's almost like a caricature of a French accent! Not that there's anything wrong with that, and when moving to the UK I'm sure the locals loved her accent. But, yes, I thought the same!
First house way too dark & they looked at it on a bright day! If they want a forever home, house 1 is not it. Too far from a village when they get really old. Mystery house has dark kitchen & really dark bedroom, for me, both negatives. The garden was wonderful!
I'm surprised how many of the houses on this show do NOT have back gardens! There is no safe place for their dog. I'm disappointed at how many houses are over budget! What's up with this?

Lovely couple and great properties!
So many rooms in that mystery house had no real way to see outside. I could not live there.
Me too. I didn't like the mystery house
👍👍👍 Real full episode including end credits. Every episode of Escape To The Country should be of this audio, visual and editing quality.
Great episode 👏

Nice couple!! She has a VERY French accent :)

It’s amazing they don’t wear gloves looking at Historical Books!
Wearing gloves makes it harder to feel the paper and may cause damage. You’re more careful without gloves. As long as your hands are clean.
They usually do, don't know why they didn't with this one.
We were taught that the natural acid mantle on our skin is the problem, no matter how "clean" we think our hands are.@@vanessasimmons1175

All 3 properties were lovely, but I hate the windows in the third house. No view.
I agree....as beautiful as it was I couldn't live with it. Wish we were told if they bought it or not.
A bedroom with no window.....🙈 personally a little claustrophobic. In think the correct size for them, and they obviously liked it.
The master bedroom made me feel I couldn’t breathe. Even sky lights would have helped.
Yes I agree, I did not like the strange brick windows, no light or view.
