The VW Passat is a nice car. To me it looks very modern. The VW Passat is a conservative and at the same time modern car. I like that it has a large gasoline tank. Less stops at the gas station.
If they think that is a boring car then I give up, the ones he listed as comparisons are dreadful. You should see the version we get here in the UK its a lot nicer than the one you are reviewing.
I bought a 2018 SE new. It’s been a great “dad” and “going to work” car for me. Can’t beat the value vs features. Apple CarPlay, heated seats, push bottom start, leatherette iOS nice, German styling, huge trunk and backseat.
i find passat extremely attractive. I don't care what others say or think. It is a pity that US gets this cheaped out version. Here in Australia we get Europe's Passat and it is such a joy to drive and own. It is infact built in Germany and quality is Wayyyyyy better than Tiguan.
I love these cars. I have a 2016 r line Passat and it has been very reliable. Haven’t had any issues with it at all. It 45,000 miles on and I’m thinking about upgrading to the 2021. I also like the big tank. Fewer stops at the gas station.
@@alvinsimba734 Ive had cars give me trouble at 20,000 miles. my husbands 2012 Passat that has 152,000 miles on it has had no major issues. We use it as a spare car.
I just purchased a 2021 SE. I use it to commute 250 miles a week. It’s a great hwy cruiser. My only complaint is under acceleration from a stop it’s a little noisy. Once under way it’s pretty quiet. It’s a lot of car under 25k
Who'd buy this thing if there are better options in this dying segment? I didn't know that Passat is a budget car in the US. In Europe, it is just below the luxury brands in quality and price. Nice review and very interesting information!
Horsepower isn't everything. This isn't a sports car, its designed to be a regular daily drive sedan you won't need alot of horsepower to drive to work
Stay away that's what my mechanic says part's are extremely expensive and as all German cars they are hyperly built say an alternator blow's everything is interconnected. Do yourself a favor buy a Camry.

Agreed
I'd take a Passat over any of the competitors. Classier and solid

I bought a new 2020 Passat in September of that year. At two years old and 23,000 miles no complaints or mechanical issues. It runs great!

How's the reliability been?
@@jeffmorse645 just normal maintenance. 50k miles all good.
@@Fritter70 Thanks! Looking at a new leftover 2020 SEL Premium this weekend. The dealer wants 25K for it.
I just bought a 2018 certified preowned PASSAT SEL PREMIUM with only 3150 miles on it, it is by far the nicest car I have ever owned!!!
The driving experience you get on the Passat you will never have it on those crappy Japanese cars you mentioned, I have tried them all. Nice review
I don’t care for the larger screen or panoramic sunroof😬

45000 miles... I thought you were going to say 200000 miles minimum.

The VW is the most dependable of all of the sedans. That alone is worth it.
It looks like you haven't heard of Camry and Corolla
@@rvd2960 right eh... there is a reason why that passat is cheap lol
Passat uses the New Midsize Sedan (NMS) platform. It first came out in 2012. It does not have MQB's infotainment found on Golf/GTI/Atlas/Tiguan.
Thank you so much Hanson! Really helped me with the car-buying process.
It’s funny how stuff new today is dated by tomorrow. What a greedy world.

I bought a 2017 SE because it has the CD/mp3 player! Volkswagen gets rid of the CD player in the 20/21 model years!
Been driving driving a 2019 Wolfsburg Ed., and love it's plain awesomeness. Interestingly, my other car is a 2019 Corrolla Hatchback. VALUE.
Beautiful car man
Too much technology is boringgg...
This car is JUST perfect.
Now people asking for a 32' tv dashboard screen just ridiculous.
1991 passat: 177HP
2021 passat: 174HP

My 2014 is a good first car very good gas mileage
thanks from libya , you did put your finger tip on the point over all the passat very back date , but cheap on price !!!
🙏👍Thank you for interesting video👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️💚💚💚
What is the long term reliability of this Passat?
I got a 2015 and it has 155k never had a problem
@@Tphan99 Good to hear. Most people claim these car have lots of issues.
I had 2017 jetta tsi . No issues. Used for lyft . Started at 42,000 and now at 160,000 . Great car!!!
I have a 2016 100,000 miles. No problem so far as long the oil changes are current.
Just traded my 16 in today, 212,569 miles. Not a problem at all. Just wanted a refresh and got into a 21’ ❤
I got one as a loaner from VW, if you have enough money to buy one of these just get a golf gti instead you won't be disappointed.

Wait a minute...
..ure comparing a passat se with a Lexus at end ?? 🙄 man..
He didn’t say anything bad about the Lexus nor comparing it he was complementing it so go get your ears checked 🙄
i just rented one.
I do believe the Passat have been replaced by the Arteon
Cc was replaced by the Arteon, Passat is being replace with the New electric ID.7 sedan
@@DEALZ7 in Europe there is also a new Passat version along with the ID.7
You forgat mentioned chevrolet impala premier
Impala does not compete with Mid Size Sedean, I do believe it is a full size like Nissan Maxima and Ford Taurus...
RIP Passat
I HATE the stupid swooshy styling of the competitors.
same. Clean lines are more elegant.
there's no way you can use any VW vehicles for business transportation man !!! very expensive to fix and very unreliable !!
Lol what been doing that 20 years no problems
Been driving a Golf for almost 5 years. You live under a rock!
indeed very expensive repair but also very reliable for sure
