One thing about the rear track width, with the wet rims, not being as wide. From 1400, I throw in a 20 or 25mm spacer on each side to make the wheels aligned with the bumper. It’s one of the two sizes, I can’t recall which one, but it works. With the spacer it still measures at 1400mm.
yeah boi, great tip, forgot to mention the wets. but yeah, definitely an easy job with the addition of a 20mm spacer

the thing that always bothered me about the spacers was that it effectively incresed the length of the axle, decreasing the ability of the hub to flex at the end of the axle?
yeah that can be the case, and if you feel it, definitely use the rule measurement option. the spacers are there for convenience.
Oh and btw, I noticed your very aggressive tow out settings on this kart as well. What a doozy... 🤣

I'm from Brazil, I liked your video, mine is a thunder axle 40mm it's skidding from the rear in the curves a lot, it's all open 1400mm in front and behind what do I do to try to improve?
Move the rears to 1380mm. Maybe a softer axle and also too, do you have seat stays on or off ?
I'm 6.1' height, my kart sits flat, no inner rear wheel lift, and I feel corner exit understeer. 1370mm rear width. Caster neutral. ...Add Caster for front grip? Widen rear? Cheers!
yo Chris, what tyres you racing on? 1370mm is a little narrow for a 6'1 driver IMO. is the kart unstable under brakes?
@@PowerRepublic Hey! Actually 1360mm! 2 stroke, using Vega Blue Hard compound. Sadly My lack of experience keeps me from giving better feed back under braking, but nothing feels odd
@@Chris.J.A.B with the harder tyres we would generally use a smaller diameter axle or a softer 50mm axle. The Tony Kart 4SS kart comes with a 40mm for that reason I guess. Maybe soften the kart up to get it to 'flex' and lift the wheel when cornering if you haven't tried that already?
@@PowerRepublic Thanks! I have been told to do one small thing to soften rear. Think I should try 1380mm or wider, up from 1360? I'm so curious!
I race dirt oval, 12" or 304.8mm on the right and 11" or 279.4mm on the left rear, I can get the required 39.625" or 1006.475 mm for rtw. Any ideas?
Another great video Derek. Just wanted to add that when you might get this checked on race day in tech with tires mounted, it’s important to remember that it’s measured to the edge of the tires, which might be wider than the edge of the rims with no tires mounted and need to account for this difference. I make sure to measure with tires mounted so not to be DQed. Your thoughts?
agreed Jase, has to pass tech as you finished the race. 1400mm maximum so be carful. thanks for tuning in 😊
Topp👍 I always set maximum to 1398 to allow slight slippage and have a margin to 1400.

I see how easily the hubs move up and down the axles on your video. My son runs a Top Kart Kid Kart and the hubs are so tight against the axle that I can’t move them, even with the cap screws removed. Any tips?

Yes, you want to have an even distance outside the outermost bearing-cassette on both sides, otherwise you'll make the kart unpredicatable, and it will likely handle poorly.

All the info your giving is it specific to Tony kart or can I apply this info with my arrow kart
I do the same tuning on all karts no matter the brand, with that said, there are some small unique things specific to a type of kart, but generally the same fundamentals apply to all karts
I race in Thailand and we using soft tires and hot asf. 😅 I'm using medium axle but by the final it's so sticky, if I put soft on it bends like twice before I get it to turn in so I should go medium hard right?
Yeah grab a H and HD axle and try them out for sure
And maybe some short rear hubs

Yeah all karts are pretty similar in theory.
tony, kosmic, exprit, eos and new gillards all belong to otk group so the only difference between them is the color and stickerset

The top free agency WRs are too expensive. It is best to keep cycling them in through the draft from a cap situation. It really is like the RB position these days. The talent in college these days is just so damn good at the WR position. Teams that over pay there will feel the cap pain like teams with overpriced QBs.
